American Epoxy Systems

After meeting with and getting a great quote from Dan and Kristen I did my research and came across the other review listed here which clearly made me nervous. However a number of my friends had already gotten custom epoxy garage floors from them so I kept an open mind and went to a couple of job sites to see the finished product. I asked his employees how long they had worked for him, looked at the product buckets to make sure they were the top of the line products. What can I say, Fred’s review seemed legit and here in South Florida it’s always buyer beware but in spite of that (and maybe because of the 8 other good reviews on Unilocal) I was impressed enough to move forward and hire Dan for the job.
I have no clue what went wrong for Fred G, and oddly he never says what he was unhappy with, but in my case (and also in the case of one friend who picked a color combination that he didn’t love when he saw it done) Dan Bowman came out, personally over saw the job, bent over backwards to make sure I was happy, made the changes I requested at no additional cost and didn’t stop until I said I was completely satisfied. In addition he worked within my schedule which meant working till very late (after 11pm) to get the job done. All his employees are polite and have worked for Dan for some time, obviously a good sign and better for getting a quality job as well.
At this point I have a top brand name product epoxy floor with two colors of chips added (looks like terrazzo only much shiner) which is, in my opinion, (as well as a bunch of followers on Instagram where I posted pics of the job) worthy of a museum gallery.
I intend to hire them for another job in the near future and I know one of my friends has already had them do his home garage after he had them do his display warehouse. These guys all are parking their exotic Italian sports cars to show off on the floors they have so these aren’t your average warehouses by any means.
As a person who owns her own business I am always suspicious of great reviews since they are so easy to plant. I am also well aware of how some customers are easier to please than others but I can assure you that I am not one of those and my friends aren’t either. We are a demanding bunch, and this company got the job done. And because they really did bend over backwards to make me completely happy with my job I really do feel it’s only fair to let people know they went the extra mile.
I will try and find a way to post some photos of the work they did for me after I post this review so you can see for yourself how they transformed a 1950’s poured slab into a showpiece…
UPDATE: I have now had the floor for a while and it’s holding up beautifully. It is possible to scratch so you have to be careful with what you drag across it but normal wear and tear it’s great. Also another friend has had a floor installed and it’s a spectacular gray and silver swirl that reflects like a mirror. Really pretty.

Band of crooks, thieves and unscrupulous people… Run away!!!
This company –which is actually owned and operated by Dan Bowman; there is also a person of interest somewhere in Birmingham, MI. (we thinks it’s Dan Bowman uncle); and then there is Kristen Mathiesen; she is some kind of Sales Rep… All I can say is: RUN AWAY of these people!!! They are all criminals!!! I took them to court; and I won; however American Epoxy System has no assets… They don’t have anything in their name!!! If you don’t believe me, try to go to these peoples office, store or business location… There is no such thing (we realize this after the judgment ruled in our favor, and we tried to collect)! The address is a UPS Store… And a PO Box –absolutely no assets!!!
We even tried a subpoena to Dan Bowman uncle (up in Birmingham, MI) to have a deposition for someone to respond (and pay back all the damages and expenses incurred while working with American Epoxy Systems). American Epoxy Systems’ work was just terrible!!! American Epoxy System is simply THE WORST company I have done business with. I wouldn’t recommended American Epoxy System to my work enemy!
