Daniel Island Village Apartments

Overpriced.
Downstairs neighbors moved out between 12am-​5am 3 nights in a row. Followed by 3 complaints to mgmt and nothing was done.
You are not supposed to store things in the garage (but everyone does). Just had my concrete planters thrown away by mgmt (but everyone else’s stored stuff is still there). We are moving this weekend… which is why they were down there as I was slowly bringing things that were heavy downstairs.
First year we were here the ‘free’ printer never worked… ever. They purchased a new one and it has better luck.
The GM is nice.
Walls are paper thin… like in most apts. We had to sleep in the 2^nd bedroom so we wouldn’t hear our next door neighbors. We did this the entire time we lived here. Then when we would have guests over (who would sleep in the master) the neighbors would complain how they could hear us. If you are a light sleeper like I am, beware. I also know my downstairs neighbors can here our dog (and she is less than 40lbs and we have carpet).
You have to opt in for the garbage pick up and pay for it.
Stove vent is horrible.
Across the way neighbor would never take their poor dog out to potty on the grass, and seriously let their poor dog piss and shit on their balcony (with us sitting there across the way trying to enjoy a glass of wine). New people moved in with kids and thankfully they put down an outdoor rug because I don’t think the patio was cleaned (because mgmt wouldn’t know there was dog pee on it anyway).
There are a lot of dogs in this apt complex so if you don’t like dogs… I’d look elsewhere. This wasn’t an issue for us but could be for others.
We were here about 1.5 years while waiting to find a home to buy and overall I’m not impressed with Daniel Island or this apt complex. All the things that bothered me probably wouldn’t have bothered me if we weren’t paying SO MUCH MONEY. Obviously its an apt and you are in a shared living environment so it won’t be perfect. The price is because of the area, Daniel Island. Two bed/​2 bath $ 1600-​$ 1900.
The grounds are very well kept. The pool is nice. The clubhouse is clean and they employee a CARES team that has little events for residents which is wonderful.

When we are looking for a new place to call home we checked out quite a few places and I found DI Village to be one of the better places we looked at. And for the location and surrounding rentals it actually quite affordable for the area. We have several friends that live here and love it. Unfortunately for us we are just spoiled and didn’t want to live in an apartment atmosphere again; but I would highly recommend DI Village for someone that likes living apartments and works nearby on Daniel Island or close by. They do have a very beautiful setup here with a nice clubhouse complete with business center, pool tables, and a kitchen; leading out to a nice pool area. Also the grounds are kept up quite nicely as well.

This is a very nice little apartment complex! Daniel Island is the best compromise of quiet island life and big city life. You are smack dab between Charleston and Mt Pleasant (although a bit closer to MP), but you are still close enough to the big city for a great evening date.
A couple of tips if you are thinking of moving to this complex:
1) As of the time I am writing this, beware of little fees (like $ 25 for garbage door-​to-​door service). Why I say «beware” — it’s not much of a service when you have to make sure you garbage is perfectly tide up according to their rules (outside service, not Greystar) or they will not pick it up. You get nasty little notes instead. They also don’t pick up on the weekends or past 7 pm. There is a huge trash container next to the garage, it takes 2 minutes to run down to throw stuff away. I’d do away with the fee, personally.
2) If you are planning on moving in, I wouldn’t suggest any of the rooms near the pool as the music the front office plays is loud! Plus, there are tons of people by the pool on the hot days. Good if you like to socialize, not good if you just want to chill on your patio and relax.
3) The complex hosts events every now and then – fun! Definitely an added charm, especially free dinner nights from Outback! :-)
4) The fitness center is very nice. It can get crowded at very random times (5:30 in the morning, 4:30 in the afternoon) but only occasionally (hence the «random” – not every day). By the way, I am a personal trainer and I give discounts to Greystar inhabitants. Hit me up if you’re interested!

Amazing location, beautiful views, and a great community. A bit expensive, but you get access to an amazing pool, a cabana bar and grill, a gym, and free breakfast during the week! Walking distance to downtown Daniel Island, which is pretty much utopia.
