Horribly rude service makes it hard to rate this anything more then 2 stars. It’s SO slow too, we stopped bothering trying to go. More frustrating then anything.

TERRIBLEEXPERIENCE #3 I tried to give them another chance. Sushi is so limited around here. My to-go order has been wrong 3 times. I always tip the service staff so well. This time I waited an hour for pickup and ended up missing food. I’ll never go back.

Thai Basil was the best place to eat thai food around this area … Until new owners get this place, plus owner as a waitress… sucks !! Poor portions and expensive… Thats the new Thai Basil !! Hope they change this because they have good food and the service was very good before !! And don’t forget to check your to go orders at pick up … They always forget your side orders !!

Dear Thai Basil, It has been a good run. You were the far superior option for non traditional cuisine within 20mins. And I relished every opportunity to savor your red curry and occasionally sample the hibachi. You were better than the Japanese place in Dayville. Although I never sampled your sushi I would suspect that it was, maybe still is, quite delicious. But. All that has changed now. Tonight I paid $ 40 for take out. For two people. And you dared to hesitate to stamp my card twice(although I do declare that the $ 30 gift certificate reward for filling up the card is ALMOST adequate). So, gripe 1; it’s pricey. And I could tolerate that. But here’s where I draw the line. I got the chicken with house ginger sauce on vegetables. Figured I’d switch it up try something new. Which although good and fresh. Was just simply not worth the $ 14, because the best part about it, the sauce. Which as a ginger FANATIC I crave so much. Was just barely glazed on the chicken. Disappointed? Sure but I was also starving so I scarfed it down regardless. But I swallowed with gulps of discontent. So several months ago when I was greeted by patrons leaving, who were very upset, upset enough to tell random strangers that ‘this place has gone way down hill, new management doesn’t know what they’re doing’ I did the solid thing and disregarded it. Maybe they were at fault, benefit of the doubt proceeded. Service has always been ok. But your food has made any miscommunication completely forgotten. Plus I don’t really care about service. Just give me what I ask at some point — has been my motto. Tonight there seemed to be above average amount of miscommunication up front. Maybe new people? Who knows. I was willing to forget it. As long as the food hasn’t slid. Because that was your stronghold. But tonight. Well tonight you’ve become sub-standard and I will continue to give you a shot here and there. Because. Let’s face it, I’d rather starve than go to Jade Garden, I still hold you to higher standards. Thai Basil, be the best Thai Basil you can be. The variety challenged corner of Connecticut needs you. If you read all this. I’m sorry. I ate my fiancé’s food, mine actually had plenty of sauce. Rock on Thai Basil.

Food was good. We ordered sushi appetizer and Thai entrees. We didn’t do the hibachi. Portions were average. Pricing was good. Staff was friendly. I would definitely go again.

Love the Thai Basil. So many great options. Vegetarian diet friendly. I hadn’t been in so long due to moving away. We took a special trip and feasted on 2 platters of sushi. It was so good. Then we ordered a platter of general thai’s chicken. It was very good as well. Everything is so fresh made there. One of my favorites is the salad dressing served on the house salad. Drinks are great to. Seasonal beers on tap, and they serve great scorpion bowls in different sizes. Definitely worth a shot!

I stopped here for lunch passing through. I love Thai food… But not at this place. Everything tasted ‘off’. The flavors just weren’t right. I ordered Tom yum soup with shrimp and red curry with shrimp. They were the smallest shrimp I’ve ever had. The price was good, very inexpensive and my waitress was sweet. Not sure what else is in the area for Thai, but I’d keep driving next time.

So, there are new owners. … one pro is that there is now an online menu… that’s about it. Incredibly slow, ordered ahead foe pickup. Waited 30 min to leave to get it, then waited another 30 min when I get there! Terrible. Last time I was here they gave my order to someone else! They need to get it together.

If you go to this place plan on three things for certain: 1. Overall very tasty and good food with good portions(Thai food side) with a reasonable price. Even sushi is very well done. 2. Underperforming wait staff; this has been consistent for years: inattentive, aloof, and bland in general. 3. Meals take forever to come out; even when they are not busy; this has also been consistent for years; of course they are on «Thai time»: for every five min count it as 15.

We went here as a group of 3 and they were serving the lunch specials. The prices were typical of a Thai restaurant but the quality was very good. My wife is from Thailand and has placed her stamp of approval as well as Friendly Thai in Groton City. We moved up here and were happy to find somewhere that was, in many respects, better than anywhere else we have had in CT. The lunch portions were huge. I will ask for about half of what I got next time. I got chicken penang curry(outstanding) and Tom Yum soup(equally outstanding).

I very much enjoyed the food here but the place didn’t have much atmosphere. I will probably just get takeout next time.

We really enjoyed the Thai dishes we ordered: drunken noodles, pad thai, yellow curry. Beef rolls and chicken satay were also very tasty. All those delicious fresh flavors… ginger and basil and particularly good peanut sauce. Service was a bit slow, with long pauses. But the waitress was very pleasant. The atmosphere is… underwhelming. If you don’t want the hibachi«performance,» you are seated in the bar, which seems dark and kind of musty. Could also do without the loud, dated music. Oh, and every so often it feels like a train is coming through the building. But if you’re not fussy about atmosphere, it really is quite yummy food… much better than it was some years ago. I second the reviewer who said they should serve Coke products. And buy some glasses, instead of plastic.

Outstanding every single time. A great place to meet friends and enjoy fabulous Thai food. Love drunken noodle, pad Thai. Lunch prices are unreal, salad and your choice of crab Rangoon or spring roll. Too hard to choose.

My friend and I were the first to arrive on a week day for lunch service. We walked in the door and it was chilly and lights were off. The man presumably working there said they were open and was waiting on his server but sat us at a table and handed us some menus. He was friendly and took our drink orders. And turned the lights on thankfully! The server came and took our order. I had the pad Thai, he ordered the mee pan. He inquired about the spiciness and she was knowledgeable and helpful in answering his questions. The food came out relatively quickly and it was hot and fresh. The quality of the food was definitely there. And lunch specials come with your choice of protein and either egg rolls or crab rangoons. The price was more than reasonable, under $ 8.00 a plate. The service was great, the food was delicious. The layout is a bit boring but clean. If the building had been more warm and inviting I would have given it 5 stars. I’ll definitely be back though!

Service is really good, I like the owner… she is just great! I always get the green curry because it is perfect comfort food for me. This place is great and quick for takeout. I have many friends that love getting the hibachi meal. Good decent Thai, I compare it to Thai food I have eaten in NorCal. Drunken noodle was ehhh, but I only had it once, not enough kick for me. Good fried tofu.

Food it’s good but it’s not worst the wait for 1hr to get our appetizer than 20 min main dish, waitress poor of knowledge how to treat costumers, no utensils, hotwater in the plastic cup, this is was Saturday at 6pm, the chef did great job good food but like I say not excellent to worth the wait

Went this evening planning to use my app certificate. It could not be used as per sign on door. I questioned that and was told they would accept it if I had printed out the certificate. Decided to eat there anyway. The tea was luke warm. Shrimp Tempura was good. Both of my companions ordered sushi. Neither order came with wasabi or ginger. We asked and were given some. Hibachi steak was mediocre. Vegetables were boring. I had planned to come back to use my $ 25 certificate, however, it was so disappointing I do not think I will return. Service was good. Much prefer Yamato for price and quality if I am in the mood for Asian cuisine.

Plentiful variety Ample portions Good local option Thai Basil seems to appear out of nowhere as you make your way down a residential road toward your destination, and then, suddenly, what looks like a roadside bar is your Asian food establishment. Inside, there is a Hibachi side, as well as a dining/bar side. TVs with the game on are hung in each side. As you settle in, several special cocktails are available, as well as a fair beer selection. I also tried a Thai iced tea, which was a dessert-like offering with whipped cream and a cherry on top — pretty unexpected. For entrees, my red curry was a pretty dish, but relatively bland. However, I was able to get the spice tray to season it to taste. My Phở with shrimp was tasty, though the shrimp themselves were not to my liking. The sushi was done well, with the Phenomenal Roll an excellent example — a roll underneath shredded crab meat with panko crumbs was hearty and delicious. The Pad Thai was good, if unremarkable. Kids options were offered, and our kids went with pretty standard chicken stuff, but were wowed when their chocolate milks came back looking like tropical drinks — the little drink umbrellas got played with all night. For the vicinity, this seems like a good little gem, but in the broader context, it’s a little more average. A-OK.
