The pool heater is always on the fritz, either the pool or the jacuzzi isn’t working(they switch the heater back and forth so they don’t have to pay to fix one or the other) and they are stingy with the small towels that you pay dearly for. Steam room is a hit or miss, sometimes working. They have not changed the lightbulbs in the locker room change area for at least a year. Locker room can be dirty and moldy. They have no problem taking your money, but when you actually start to use the club, they complain and want to raise your rate. I used the club twice a month for years(for which they took a monthly fee and yearly upgrade fee), then I went twice one week they called to raise my rate. Manager was VERY rude. But then again managers change frequently. You also have to share with the hotel guests and CoCo Key guests. Beware, you will not get what they offer you up front. Penny pinchers.

Mostly cons so far: this is for the Danvers location. the whole place was inconvenient to get to and find. I bought a groupon for 25 visits for $ 25…yeah they must really be hemorrhaging money. I bought it because I wanted to try group fitness classes. The locker room was freezinnng cold and the bench looked moldy, like it needed replacing. Entering the yoga studio, it was also frigid in there. The instructor apologized and turned up the heat, but even towards the end of the session, I didn’t even break a sweat because it only reached 62 degrees. At the beginning it was 58 degrees. That’s absurd. I understand that people are trying to save money, but you’re driving people away like this. Muscles can’t warm up in that weather for yoga! Anyhoo, I brought my own mat and cringed when I touched the floor. It definitely felt like it hadn’t been swiffered/mopped in a week let alone last night. We were the first class of the day so the studio should be pretty clean. Pros: pretty good yoga instructor, Mary, she gets 4 stars. very friendly and introduced herself to me. I guess everybody there was a regular and she noticed that I was new. Very cool! but everything else was a 1, which I’ll average out to a total of 2 stars. nice toilet paper, not that tissue paper thin crap that breaks as soon as you pull on it. I would never actually sign up for this gym, unless they updated it and made it worth your while for $ 30 – 40 a month. I’ll update this review once I make a few more visits.

Not entirely sure about the club, but this 5 star review is for Irina the masseuse. She has amazing work ethic and makes you feel extremely relaxed. I refuse to get a massage from anyone else because I know I’ll be disappointed.

Groupon people beware. I do not recommend this spa. If you have a Groupon with them, I was told they specifically do not call those customers only for their reminder about the upcoming appointment, essentially hoping then they miss it. Also when you schedule the appointment, they will not schedule it without having the groupon #, so if you miss it, they redeem it and it cannot be re-booked, and they walk with the money. I find this so so slimy and they totally know what they are doing/hoping that this happens.

Nice equipment using LifeFitness and Precor running and elliptical machines. Very comprehensive weight machines. Large pool, spa and therapy offerings.

This is just a small quiet local gym if you want to go get a quick workout without wearing your cutest workout gear and/or seeing Miss or Mr Universe walking around the like they own the place. I actually like it! Im also a member at latitudes(the BIG luxurious gym with all the perks) and WOW(a cheap franchise), each has its perks. But I like Atlantis when I just want to get in and out without having to look ‘good’, run into anyone or be friendly lol We pay cash for the year for the family plan and never been charged extra for towels or anything.

I bought a Groupon for a «massage day for two» or something like that: two facials, two manicures, two pedicures. I tried to schedule an appointment with them during regular spa hours but no one ever picked up the phone. However, they did call me back and I was able to schedule the treatments. Unfortunately, a major snowstorm came through the weekend I was supposed to go with my mother and I canceled the appointments the day before. The Groupon expiration date was approaching in a few weeks so I tried to call to reschedule: two voicemails, one email. No response. Finally(after reaching out to Groupon directly) I heard back from them. Tried to book the appointments and they told me they wouldn’t honor the Groupon because the expiration date had passed. I reminded them of the difficulty I had reaching them previously and they again declined to honor the Groupon. Really surprised that they wouldn’t be willing to honor the Groupon considering they need all the good Unilocal reviews and new clients they can get. If I had gone there and had a satisfactory experience, perhaps I could have been the first person to review them and give them something higher than one star. Oh well.

Disappointment all around! I’ve been a member for almost a year and am soooo not motivated to go here yet, havent found a club that offers what I want with a decent rate and no commitment. Anyway, its been trouble for one thing or another. First, they want to start charging for towel service(I only will use my own), then they cant ever get the billing right and there is never any communication. They recently changed the policy to charging and extra $ 20/monthly if you participate in any of their classes — yes, changing my contract with no notification — they say they sent an email to all members but I had never, ever received any emails from them until after I complained. Nevermind that classes are cancelled all the time anyway, so why I would pay for them? I was told when I joined that members receive all sorts of perks including discounts at the hotel restraurant and the waterpark — NO such discounts, I’ve inquired more than once. I recently purchased a Groupon facial for the salon and was given a separte phone number to call for the appointment and have not received a phone call back. Everything they sold me on was not what it seemed. Time to find a new place that is motivating and inspiring that will get me to the gym. Note: the GM has changed within the last week or two, hopefully there will be improvements, but no guarantees. What I do like? it’s quiet most of the time. I can go in and use the equipment without fear of anyone really looking at me and can do my own thing. The locker rooms were recently updated within the last few months.

This club isnt as bad as everyone says and I am coming from a luxury club(Latitude). There is one cardio room, pretty small about 20 pieces of stuff with TVs to watch on each piece of equipment. Treadmills, steppers, elipticals, 2 expresso bikes. The weight room is bigger and really top of the line. There is a pilates studio and an exercise room. I work out there with a trainer and he gives me an amazing workout in the exercise room with spin bikes, punching bags, weight balls etc. The locker room has been redone, there is a pool and the best steam and saunas i have been in(much better and more reliable that Latitude which is never hot enough or broken!) Right now i am on the boston deal of three months for $ 39 which is well worth it. Not sure how I will feel depending on the monthly rate when this special is over. I would say this gym in its current state is worth about $ 25 – 30 a month. They also do have a hair salon and massage services for additional fees. Towel service(very small towels) is included. I was paying $ 54 at Latitude which has amazing equipment, ambiance and amenitites(they just dont keep them up) and I pay $ 10 at planet fitness which has great new and abundant equipment(no individual tvs though) and is very clean but few ammenities(no steam, sauna) If atlantis expanded and replaced some of its cardio equipment and put the expresso bikes online I would say it was a $ 40 /month gym. One draw back is sharing with hotel guests who arent always the most curteous.

Atlantis Sports Clubs(Danvers, MA) is great gym, if you don’t like to have AC while working out, want a limited selection of classes, like dirty bathrooms and a small changing rooms. If you just want to hit the weights or see a good trainer this is the place for you. However, be warned that you should also watch your credit card bill. Without any notification I was charged a $ 29 facility fee 3 months earlier and when I cancelled my membership, I was charged an additional month. Since I paid my last month up front, I was confused about the additional charge. After multiple attempts to speak with the GM … I gave up. I was told by an employee they never issue credits, but would be happy to let me stay there for another few months at no cost? Since I already paid for the additional month, it really wasn’t free to me.
