Awsome place to eat. Good subs, good salads and the BEST house dressing around

The«greek chicken salad» is romaine lettuce with hot chicken on top and some parmesan and croutons. Served in a plastic box with a plastic fork. I had to ask for the pita that supposedly came with it. What a disappointment.

Oh Jimmy’s :) The housemade salad dressing is garlicy GOODNESS! It pairs perfectly with my personal favorite, their chicken kabob salad on greek salad. WOW. It a large portion iceberg lettuce salad with tomatoes, onions and cucumbers and hunks of heavenly feta cheese and mouth watering chicken kabobs. But what makes the salad by far, is the dressing. Jimmy — as far as I’m concerned, that recipe is liquid gold Sir! The steakbombs & Italian subs are the best in Danvers! Great portions, great value. Super fresh ingredients and then Jimmy himself and the welcoming smiley folks who work there — I can’t say enough about them! Everyone is so friendly and kind — don’t be fooled the sub shop look from the outside, the food is AWESOME! Great for take out!

I had a cup of clam chowder. There weren’t many clams in the white sauce, and it tasted like it came out of a can. The wife got fish and fries, and says good quantity for the price, but her fish was pretty bland.

Just got home from eating at Jimmy’s. First off, the service was very good! The guy working the kitchen took my order immediately, but I had to wait a while to pay for it since his co-worker was busy. She soon came out and was very friendly and got the bill handled quickly. I ordered a cup of chowder and the chicken kabob dinner. Being as this is my first time in the Boston area, I had to get chowder and man, it was tasty! The rest of the food came really quickly, but I was disappointed with the presentation. It looked like pan fried chicken with seasoning, but it was very greasy and watery. It tasted good, and there was quite a bit of food, but it just didn’t look right. Then there were the onion rings… ick. I’m used to large, beer battered type o-rings that are thick and juicy. These were very thin, and kinda dry. I only ate 3 or 4 of them before giving up. The coleslaw was coleslaw. Not much to say about it. Overall, the food was good enough, but it didn’t knock my socks off. The service was great, and portions were huge though. Maybe I should have had the roast beef or the chicken fingers? Not sure why it wasn’t as good as a lot of the reviews here. Maybe it was an off day for them. Just a note: they don’t take American Express if that’s the card you’re planning on using.

Their roast beef is very good. I’ve been here several times and the excellent quality is consistent. I also just got fried clams from here, and being someone who loves fried clams, I can tell you that they had some outstanding clams. They were big and fresh. The people and service is great here as well. If you like seafood and roast beef, you have got to try this place.

Nasty! My husband and I just came back from there with two chicken kabob salads. I noticed the cook take the chicken from a plastic bucket sitting on the counter. Inches away from the chicken bucket there was a slab of roast beef just sitting there on the slicer… no refrigeration. Behind it, the wall was filthy. In fact, the whole place was filthy. While waiting, I was tempted to say, «Never mind» but, I had already paid. We took the salads home and my husband, who has a cast iron stomach, is eating his but there is no way I am eating mine. I can live without the salmonella, thanks! I can’t get the image of that filthy place with chicken and beef sitting out unrefrigerated out of my head. They also had stacks of salad dressings and tartar sauce just sitting on the counter, unrefrigerated. They contain mayonnaise. Good grief! The board of health should check that place out. There are a lot of violations going on in there! I advise anyone reading this to stay away from that cesspool!

Nice people, owner is there and greeting you, and I love local businesses like that. We opted for the chicken kabob Greek salad and buffalo tender dinner with onion rings and fries(you get to pick two sides). About $ 17 which is reasonable especially given everything tasted very fresh. The Greek salad comes with their homemade creamy dressing which was delicious, you can actually buy a bottle of it for $ 4 which I might do in the future for when I don’t feel like making my own. The grilled chicken kabobs were delicious, I would’ve liked a few more but for $ 7 I think the portion is good. The feta on the salad is clearly very fresh and high-quality, it comes in kind of big pieces where usually I prefer it to be a little harder and more crumbly and to get more of it(I LOVE feta!) but I didn’t mind crumbling it up myself. I might ask for extra feta next time. The sauce on the buffalo tenders was excellent, just the right amount of spicy and the fresh chicken was tossed in it which is just so much better than getting the sauce on the side and having to dip it. LOVED these. The onion rings were tasty and crunchy, not greasy at all without too much batter to overpower the onion flavor. We really enjoyed the fries as well, they tasted like fast food fries, if that makes sense – you know that oily fried flavor while still being crunchy and not greasy? That’s my favorite kind and they were great. Overall, delicious fresh food at a reasonable price from nice people, and there are plenty of other options on the menu we still want to try. We’ll be back!

Great food. They use the freshest ingredients including their seafood. The Greek chicken lemon rice soup is the best. Make sure to try the roast beef sandwich. The chicken fingers are FRESH and made for each order not frozen and the chicken kabob Greek salad is huge, fresh and to die for . The staff are all super friendly and eager to please, just ask.

Top 5 roast beef sandwiches I’ve had. Was in the area and this place looks to be an institution in the neighborhood. Beef was very tender and nice folks working there.

I stopped in to this place by accident. I had pulled in to go to the McDonalds next door and then I decided to peak in and take a chance. I have been looking for a great seafood place within 30 miles of my Billerica home for the last 10 years and I cannot find any place that has great seafood with good portions and reasonable prices. By looking at all of the members that work there I sized them up and I like them and how they do their job. The portions are large. And their recipe for their batter is one of the good ones that makes the breading they use on the scallops, clams, onion rings etc taste really delicious. This place is a treasure. From the street it looks like they are closed, sadly, so you have to know that they are there. So, maybe it is for this reason that, each time I have been there, I have plenty of room to spread out and it has not been packed. Again this is a very well-kept secret and if you want great seafood, steak tips and more, reasonably priced and prepared perfectly, do yourself a favor and make time to go there. I am hooked now and I will continue to make the 28 mile drive every time I want tremendous seafood. Oh… did I mention that when my order of clams and scallops arrived at my table, there was not one, not two, but three containers of tartar sauce. Most places make you ask, and serve it with none. I LOVE this place !

I can only comment on the roast beef sub and chocolate milk as that is what I had. The roast beef was nice and rare like I like it and sliced fresh. They totally stuffed the sandwich. Let me tel you biting into it was just as good if not better then sex!!! By far the best roast beef I’ve ever had. Now the chocolate milk was not a brand I have ever had. It may have been from a local farm. When I drank it it went down smooooooth then had a slight after taste of coco. It sucks that I live on the south shore as I would eat the roast beef daily. Cant wait till I am in the area again.

So freaking good. Probably the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. The roast beef sub for $ 7 is like 2 meals. Great service and great prices. The fried clams are so fresh and so big you need to cut them with a knife and fork. Ridiculous. Love it!

What can I say about Jimmy’s ahhh were do I start, first of it is hands down the best Beef place in Danvers; don’t even bother with any of the other places. Jimmy’s food is absolutely out of this world. They have the best chicken fingers on the planet!!! They make a homemade salad dressing, they and I recommend using it on your chicken fingers. Their salads are about 30% bigger than most places I’ve ever eaten at and they do a great job. Everything here from the Beef to the Pizza Rolls are amazing The staff are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome. I only wish they delivered, I would probably order from there 2 – 3 times a week.

I love seafood and was delighted to have this place in my neighborhood. I was not happy that the ignorance of the counter help almost killed me! I have a serious allergy to celery. yeah I know that’s a stupid thing to be allergic to! I really wanted chowder so I asked if it had celery in it. The woman at the counter assured me that it did not. I told her to please be 100% sure because if I eat it I will die. She said she was sure so i ordered a cup. I got it home and thankfully transferred it into a bowl because there in my bowl was a bunch of celery just floating mocking me! I immediately brought it back and showed the woman who said… Oh well we buy it pre-made so I didn’t know! WTF! In Massachusetts we have strict food allergy laws just for this reason! She didn’t offer me my money back but said they could change it for something else… no way! I took the loss and got the hell out of there!

Started going here when I lived in Salem. I love this place and I wish i still lived close! Their onion rings are so good! Sweet with not too much batter and so good! They have my favorite burgers ever! Thin and perfect and juicy, I cant say how good they are! All in all their fried food is perfectly done. Wont make you sick and so good and really cheap! The portions are huge! The people who work there are always nice and helpful. The décor is better than it used to be, but like other people have said, who cares about the décor when the food is so good?!

Ok, to tell the truth when I got there I was not sure if I had found the right place. In side it is old style diner, no frills, order at the count and have a seat. The food was really good. The clam stripes were fresh tasting and very nicely cooked. The scallops were also fresh, and cooked perfectly. I did not try it but was told the roast beef was also very good. The people were very friendly and welcoming. Jimmy’s Famous Beef & Seafood is one of the gems that only a community like Unilocal can unearth for a traveler, I would recommend you try it.

This is a true no-frills place — it looks like the sort of place your average diner might pass by as some local hole-in-the-wall or greasy spoon. If so, the average diner will have misjudged, and thus missed out on a really fine eating experience. As Niko X. accurately points out, Jimmy’s is the place for fried stuff. The upside of this? Where normally eating too much fried stuff could easily make you very ill, this will not — I certainly didn’t get sick. This, I believe, is because they keep their cooking oil fresh, which can’t be said of all fried-food purveyors. The family who run this establishment are extraordinarily nice people who pretty much adopt their customers as extended family; you’re recognised and welcomed the moment you walk in the door. Best deal is the seafood platter — a great piled of mixed seafood(clams, scallops, haddock, shrimp), plus French fries and onion rings, rolls… all for about $ 16. Other platters – e.g. clam strips, haddock, fish ‘n’ chips – cost a bit less but are certainly no less filling. Also, you have the option of ordering your fish baked or broiled instead of fried if you’re counting calories and carbs, and it’s never a problem. Drinks are generally bottles of soda(Pepsi products, in this case), tea, or water. One thing is for sure, though — having been once, you’ll keep coming back. Bravo for local independents!
