My child attended this school through second grade. The school has a few very well meaning teacher. However, we found it to be severely lacking academically. He finished 2nd grade unable to do basic subtraction. When I asked for an evaluation for special services through the local public school district, First Baptist didn’t really cooperate. When it came time for the meeting to discuss results, the principal hid in his office and sent a «proxy» who didn’t do anything but sit with his head down the entire time. No one was interested in getting him the help he needed. I was at a loss as to what to do. At the end of the year his standardized testing results came back below average in every area and in the lower 10−15% nationally. Thankfully I found a school willing to work to catch him up. Within 2 years he was performing in the 75−90% on his standardized testing, which tells me my child wasn’t to biggest component in his learning issue there. Religiously he received a so — so education. I know others have reviewed with huge marks for the religious aspect, but if your instruction doesn’t match how things play out in real life it’s useless. Lastly, their sports crowds tend to show very poor sportsmanship. I know that’s hard to believe, given what the other reviews boast, but from the outside looking in, their behavior at sporting events(in my experience) has been in poor taste.

I’m not sure what experience the previous poster is coming from, but I know several people who have graduated from this school as well as several who teach at this school and my opinion could not be any different I have never noted even a hint of condescension towards any group listed. Several graduates have gone on to become doctors, nurses, teachers, military, lawyers etc.
