Kathy emailed me after my review to make things right! After visiting her shop again, I was able to exchange my gift! I appreciate her resolution! Thank you!

The Bloom Space is the perfect place to find a unique treasure for others or for yourself. Kathy the owner is wonderful, amazing, helpful and a gem!!! I took an Annie Sloan chalk paint DIY class here with Kathy and had so much fun and learned a lot about the product and practiced techniques in class. I came home ready to paint away. Kathy offers one on one private painting classes, group classes, ladies nights outs with wine and cheese, and private parties. The shop is bright and airy and a pleasure to visit. The parking is ample and the store hours are convenient. I highly recommend a visit — just allow lots of time as this is a shop to enjoy and to not rush through.

Start your review… I’ve been a customer of Kathy’s stores since she was in a small warehouse in Walnut Creek… Love, love The Bloom Space! The new Danville location is much nicer than the previous Lafayette location. The Bloom Space is medium in size, w/a wide array of vendors who sell recycled/repurposed, shabby chic, cottage, barn, handcrafted, antique, holiday and jewelry items that are artistically displayed.(But every square inch isn’t overwhelmingly crowded w/inventory.) Kathy is an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint retailer. She carries the entire line of Annie Sloan products, including chalk paint quarts and samples, waxes, brushes, fabrics, books, etc. She also carries a line of scented(soy?) candles. The store has a back room where Kathy gives DYI classes, mostly in Chalk Paint. The classes include every skill level from Beginning Painting to Kitchen Cabinets to Stenciling. I began working w/chalk paint a few years before it became such a popular medium. So, I’ve never taken a class from Kathy. However, over the years, various projects have, at times, been a painting challenge. Whenever I’ve had a question, or was working with a piece that was particularly difficult, Kathy has offered me direction and/or solutions to my painting problem. Last fall, I was painting a secretary w/a top bookcase/cabinet. The door of the cabinet had a mirror, which I wanted to replace w/chicken wire. But I couldn’t find the type/size of chicken wire I needed. I dropped into the shop, and asked Kathy if she knew where I could find this specific type of chicken wire. She went to her back room, emerged w/a roll of the exact chicken wire I had been looking for, and cut me a large enough piece for my secretary cabinet. Without charge! Kathy is much more than an independent retailer… She truly takes pride in her store, has gathered and supports an eclectic community of vendors, and sincerely enjoys helping and teaching her customers. The Bloom Space is definitely worth a visit! BTW…Although parking in downtown Danville can be somewhat frustrating, there’s a small parking lot on the side of The Bloom Space building. Very convenient!
