Wow, what a fantastic dinner. You won’t miss the meat, much less the dairy or egg. Don’t be scared by the all vegan menu — in some cases raw — because you’ll be sorry you missed out. After devouring a refreshing granny smith apple and cucumber soup with red peppers, I moved on to the Minty Waldorf, a salad with plenty of fruit and nuts to keep you satisfied while adding an intensely minty dressing that was as unique as this spa. I was delighted to discover«fried» mashed potatoes in an eggless dough with toffuti sour cream and didn’t find myself once wishing there was any extras in my food. It was fresh, it was hot, it was comforting, it was delicious. While I didn’t stay here, the owner was very excited to give us all a tour of the rooms. Every room is simple and relaxing, white walls with soothing colors on the bed spreads, chairs, and curtains with funky yet comfortable chairs to sit on. I can’t figure out which room I loved the most, but I definitely wish I had a shower and tub set up like those rooms at my own home! I could see it being a nice getaway from all the craziness of city life and just existing for a weekend while indulging in treatments to relax you while dining on incredible vegan food. I wish this spot the best of luck and all the business in the world — they certainly deserve to stay in business while bringing something unique to western New York farm country.

Minty Wellness is one woman’s dream to make a difference in the world. A dream where she could actually help people. And not just by caring for people after they succumb to disease(she is a registered nurse), but by actually offering wellness solutions to prevent illnesses. And what are these wellness solutions??? For one, a raw food menu that actually is nutritionally very healthy for you and not overdone to appease American’s taste of more is better. I tried many of their raw entrees and loved them all! A relaxing and peaceful setting in the woods that features a beautiful and clean pond in which deer drink, which helps relieve the stresses of a loud, noisy City life. I loved sitting on the deck with my honey by the pond. Linda, the owner, even came out to give us some feed for the fish. It was wonderful. An educational resource where you will find books on the table in the lobby that teach and provide stories of cancer survivors on how we can prevent cancer and disease. I felt I was actually in a place where people cared about me and my health. A holistic center where services are offered to measure your nutritional needs and help guide you to healthier living through better food choices for our bodies, including recommendations on herbs and supplements. I had the dermal analysis done and found that my body was lacking in antioxidants and important vitamins and minerals. Laura, the Naturopath gave me sound recommendations, which I followed. I am now feeling over 100% better! Sound moral and ethical leadership with no compromises concerning our environment, health, and the humane treatment of animals. MInty’s does not serve any animal meat. There is no other full service restaurant n WNY that serves no meat. Although Merge has made notable efforts in serving vegan food to the community, they do still serve chicken. We should not forget that a chicken is a sentient animal and no less of feeling fear and pain as a cow or pig. Although I do eat at Merge on occasion, I am not comfortable with chicken being on their menu. I do find it difficult to be assured that my vegan meal is not being cross-contaminated with animal products. And to be honest, I also find it difficult to support a restaurant that still serves animals when there is a local restaurant that absolutely does not. And there is so much more… please check them out at As for any vegans or vegetarians who wish to see more totally vegan establishments like this in WNY, please show Minty’s your support! The Buffalo Vegetarian Society holds monthly dinner/lunches there. Please come out and join us for one! Check us out at . Tracy Murphy

This review is mostly for Christopher C. or anyone who has read his review and might be influenced by it. No offense Chris as «to each his own». I have been Vegan for 33 years and been living in Southern Ca for 30 years. Vegan and Raw food runs ramped here in La La Land so i have a pretty good tool to measure Minty Wellness by after spending a weekend there recently. You all should be kissing the ground that place is built on and giving praise to what they are bringing to your neck of the woods. To have so many options as(animal free food, massage hospitality, awareness and retreat etc etc) all in one place is a real gift. The Buffalo area only has one other place to eat for Vegetarians/Vegans and this is Merge. Yet Merge serves Chicken… Out here in Los Angeles our group runs around recusing an average of 500 plus farm animals every year. Many of them are chickens .Now with that being said you can understand how your plug for Merge doesn’t sit right with me. Ever been inside a chicken facility? If you were you would never eat chicken or eat at a place that serves chicken ever again. There is no such thing as free range(trust me on that one). When i was at Minty Wellness i sampled most on the menu. The Raw Pizza was really great. I have had dozens of raw food pizzas from different sources and Minty’s rates up with the best of them. The raw cheese cake you had talked about might have been a bit to chilled for you but when preparing and serving raw foods this sometimes happens. If prepared earlier in the day it needs to be cooled properly to stay fresh as it is Raw don’t forget. Minty is a new place and once settled in will be rid of these small nit picks you speak of. Right now they have one chef doing all the work along with just one part time helper. This is a new business that like any has to get on its feet. In the end with support and patience it will will be very very worth it for all the North West New Yorkers(and visiting Californians). The massage they offer are thumbs up. I had a hot rock deep massage that was worth every penny and more… The pond in front will fill in to a natural state after a season or so. Just ask the deer or ducks as they love to hang out at that pond(with the drain pipe showing or not). As for the comment on being single and getting laid. I will tell you straight up that my girlfriend and i spent an evening there and the sex was great even without the alcohol. The rooms had a natural Aphrodisiac effect. Try it sometime you might like it…

Came for dinner on August 6th after staying at darien lake for camping. We ordered the guacamole and chips to start off then had the lasagna and best vegan taco ever. Everything was delicious that even though we were both full when we were done with our meal we still wanted to try dessert. We ordered the chocolate walnut cookie that’s got a lot of crunch. It has sugar crystals and cacao bits that make it nice and crunchy. And to top it all off, the people are really nice and want to make sure you’re happy with your food. I’ll definitely try to make the long drive out there to go again soon.

If you are a raw foodist, then you’ll feel welcome; the ambiance is so much a part of the whole experience – spa location in a rural setting. I can’t say it wasn’t good, just that it wasn’t great. I live 5 minutes from Merge in Buffalo, which has some comparable options that are as good, if not better. This is the far left of raw food/vegan cooking; Merge is more centrist. The organic coffee in a personal french press was a nice touch. The apps we ordered were guac and spicy summer squash nori rolls, which were a good start; but it fizzled out from there. My wife had the raw pizza, and I agree with her that Merge’s is way better – more satisfying, more veg, more flavor. I had the Raw Zucchini Alfredo(all entrees were $ 13), which was shredded zucchini, a light drizzle of creamy cashew sauce, and half a handful of crimini mushrooms. If your looking for Trendy Spa pricing on an austerity diet, you’ve found it. Desserts were better, but not the best – still almost frozen cashew«cheese» cake, brownie, and apple pie. And this place is still really new: Yes, it sits in front of a drainage pond – my son liked running around it and down on the little dock while waiting for food courses – but the grass hasn’t grown in yet. The large culvert piping is still exposed. If I’m gonna travel 45 minutes and pay $ 100 dollars for a family of 3, it needs lots of improvement. On the other hand, if your a bachelor looking to get laid, this just might do it. They don’t serve alcohol though.
