I had their chicken fingers. The food was pretty good but it was just a bit too expensive for my taste!

I’ve been eating applegate naturals for some time now(nitrate free bacon, grassfed beef hot dogs, organic chicken) because of their quality. When I heard they opened up a couple kitchens in ct, I had to check it out. The menu is extensive, and they have options for vegans, dairy free, gluten free, and paleo diet. I had the grass-fed beef hot dog on a bed of lettuce with bacon. So good! Perfectly cooked and juicy. My buddy had the sweet Italian chicken sausage on a regular bun with cheese and cooked red onions. This is a person who doesn’t really like chicken sausage, but she gave it a try. She loved it so much, that when we returned to the car she said we need to get these sausages to cook on the grill over the weekend. Two thumbs up! I’m so glad this organic kitchen has become a part of the«fast food» business because I usually can’t eat anything on the road. I hope the company grows– and fast!

Mmmmm. Best meal you’ll have at a highway rest stop, period. I don’t have any dietary restrictions and I’m not really one to seek out grass fed, organic foods but given the option I’ll go for it, even if it costs a little extra. So when I say the food is delicious I mean in general, it’s just delicious. I had a hot dog with a sweet chicken sausage, fried red onions and cheddar cheese. The sausage was juicy and the perfect mix of sweet and peppery, the fried onions were caramelized and smokey, the cheese tangy without being overpowering, and the bun was fresh and soft. I can’t recommend it enough — Particularly considering that if you’re driving and need to stop for a quick meal, Applegate salads, sandwiches and hotdogs will fill you up without making you feel that fried-food crash later on. I almost always regret eating fast food, invariably about 20 minutes after my meal I start the choir of «ugggh I ate too much» and«why did I do that?» But Applegate left me satisfied and feeling great for the rest of my trip.

So happy to find some food that wont way be down/tire me out when driving. I hope to see more of these on the road!

Stopped for breakfast on the way to work on a quiet Saturday morning, and thought I’d mix it up and try Applegate, which had no line compared to the robust queue for Dunkin’. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast wrap and paired it with an order of the hashbrowns and a chocolate milk. Total damage: ~$ 9.50, but thats fine since its organic or whatever. Chatted with one of the nice employees while the order was being prepared, seemed like a nice enough guy to bother to entertain my conversation early on a weekend… Problem is that the food wasn’t particularly tastey, and there just simply was not enough quantity. The wrap was about the same size as a McDonald’s breakfast wrap(not large enough to satisfy), and there were exactly a dozen small hashbrown puffs. Like come on… At least the taste was decent, but all too bland. The portions felt as if they were ordered to put exactly the minimum amount in to justify calling it a meal and charge you $ 9 for fast food. I was really excited for the possibility here too. Alas, not all breakfast meals are made equal. If you’re here, just get Dunkin or McDs, you’ll be happier. Experience: 2.5÷5 Service:3.5/5 Food: 3⁄10 Overall: 9⁄20 {2.25STARS}

Randomly stopped at this pretty new rest area in Darien CT and saw this place. I was like WOW! Vegan chili? Vegan hot dogs?! Hummus and flat bread too?! I mean, I’m not vegan anymore but I still really appreciate places like this that serve the vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, etcetera people of the world. Plus the food is pretty delicious. It’s really clean and brand new and the people working are super nice. Quick friendly service! I love this place.
