Wow, I wished I’d checked Unilocal before going to this guy last year. I went in for a yearly dermatologist visit to check for signs of skin cancer(I’m very fair, burned some as a kid and both parents have had pre-cancerous stuff removed). As everyone else said, he was very cursory. I had a newly formed mole on my right shin. He told me it probably wasn’t anything but he’d remove it if I was concerned about it. New moles are a a signal and should be checked. It turned out it was fine, but I had to push for him to check it. I won’t be going back to him this year.

Same experience as mentioned previously, I only wish I could have saved myself hundreds by checking here first. Assistant did everything, he filled out an Rx and spent less than 3 minutes«meeting me» and hearing about my condition. Thinking his dismissive consult was a fluke, I did go back for the follow up. He was worse and guessed that instead of cystic acne it was shingles. Really? Are you kidding me with that mess? I did call him out in that phony diagnosis and bit my tongue off not to call him Pimple Popper MD to his face. I just got a letter saying he’s closing Darien and moving to St. Charles only. Good riddance. I cured myself thanks to WebMd, for free.

I have been this doctor’s patient 2 times. Once when he still worked at Rush and once after he opened his University Dermatology center with his brother. I agree with all other reviews saying he is in and out — under 5 min. The assistant does everything; the doctor just comes in to prescribe the medication. Never explains anything, you have to ask a lot of questions to get information about your condition. The last time I was there I had to pay $ 500 out of pocket on top of the $ 1,800 my insurance paid him. That was 6 months ago. I called several times yesterday saying it was an emergency, I have a big red rash on my back that came out overnight. It burns and itches and I’m in pain. I need him to prescribe something serious because OTC medications are not helping. I called several times and begged his staff to let me talk to him or to let me come in for an emergency 5 min appointment. They said he was there but he did not have any openings. He could see me next week. I explained over and over again that I need 5 min of his time and that I’m in pain. I don’t need a regular appointment. I need help NOW. Nothing. I just ended up going to an urgent care center where they gave me prescription-strength ointment that helped me right away. I am appalled that I have paid so much for doctor Dimitropoulos’ care and his staff wouldn’t help me when I was in pain. I am telling everyone I know about this atrocity.

Wow. I have to agree with Jenny N. I had the exact same experience…3 times. The first time, he came in for barely a minute, said he needed to see some tests first, then left. His assistants did everything. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and went back to follow up. Not only were the later two times completely impersonal and brief, I had to keep prodding him for more information, and there was no way he would have told me anything if I didn’t ask questions. Worst thing is his treatments didn’t work and made my condition worse. I definitely found a different derm and got treated the way I want to be treated. Bottom line: stay away from this guy.

Very impersonal. Met with him for a 5 minute«consultation» and he «guessed» it I had some sort of allergic reaction and then wrote me a prescription for an antihistamine. Great, I could have saved myself the $ 252 consultation fee and just gotten some Benedryl from CVS. Oh, and that $ 252 fee comes out to be about $ 50 per minute for the time I saw him. This is not an exaggeration. I hardly make that much money in a week. Thanks Dr. D, sorry to say I WONT be back for the follow up that you requested.
