We’ve all been there, right? We try to be responsible and leave our cars parked when we shouldn’t be driving. The next day, we call a cab and do a walk of shame back to pick up the vehicle. I called this cab company for that exact purpose and they quoted me a $ 14 fare based on the address I gave them. I thought worse-case scenario would be $ 20. Minutes later, a busted mini van with no meter and no navigation system came to a screeching halt in front of my house. Then the drama began to unfold. The driver seemed to have no clue where the destination address was or why I was quoted $ 14. We toured some of the more obscure side roads in the area where she actually picked up another fare and dropped them off. Then I had to tell the driver for the 4th time since getting into the cab where I wanted to go. I do not profess to be a great driver but this person’s driving skills had me saying the Rosary, the Kaddish and the Prayer of Humble Access. We drove 70 through a school zone while she talked on the phone about which of her kids was making parole. We merged onto the freeway and for a brief moment, I thought I saw St. Anthony of Padua along with the angels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel telling me it was ok to cross over. During the entire trip, the driver was yelling at people on her cell phone about my fare and other related issues. Each time the driver made a point on the phone, she also stepped on the brakes. No idea why. When we finally arrived at my destination(about 13 miles) the fare was $ 45. Remember, there is NO meter in these cabs so you are at their mercy. I paid the fare, got out, kissed the ground and got into my vehicle. I hate to say this is a ghetto cab company because that does a great disservice to the term«ghetto.» In short, I am not sure how this company operates. There is no accountability, safety does not seem to be a concern and professionalism is non-existent. If you ever need a ride in the Darlington-Florence area, do yourself a big favor and just offer one of your friends $ 50.
