As a vendor who provided branded promotional products to Gala I would tell anyone who wants to be paid to stay away from this company for your events. Not only did I sell them the branded items for their clients events, they wanted a 10−20% discount so they could turn around and mark them up and charge their clients fair market price. I worked on commission and only agreed to this because I thought it would lead to enough orders to be worth my while. Little did I know, they roll through vendors frequently because once they get the goods and get paid from their clients, they never pay their vendors. My fiancé and I met with Gala to discuss the décor for our wedding because they were one of two companies recommended by our venue. We had our initial meeting with them 10 months before our wedding to discuss décor and invitations. They told us they can work with any budget and we can pick and chose what we want to do with them. Gala had great ideas for our wedding and we were looking forward to working with them and getting an estimate. We were told we would have our initial estimate in a few weeks. They told us they do in house printing for invitations and they can usually beat other vendors prices. We ordered our save the dates through them, which turned out nice, however I think we overpaid for them. A month after our initial meeting, we were working with them on our save the dates design and I kept asking when we would have our proposal for the wedding décor. I kept getting really vague responses, like, i’ll check on it and get back to you. After a few months, I checked back in and gave them a deadline in a week for the décor. We kept stressing that we needed to know how much this was going to cost us for budgetary reasons. When the deadline hit in week, I still didn’t have a proposal. I had to email them expressing my disappointment with their service, and then I had the initial proposal within an hour. When I took a look at the initial proposal, it was quite expensive and I set a time for a call where we could discuss changes that could be made to decrease the cost. The proposal also did not include things like labor and installation costs. There was also a few TBD’s in the price column for certain things. The proposal also did not include any table top designs or florals. During that call, I found them very unwilling to work with us to reduce cost and kept getting responses like, well you need to have that. They were going to rework some of the designs we had initially discussed and then get back to me with an updated proposal. After a month, I still did not have that updated proposal after asking for it numerous times. I found this company impossible to work with. They kept telling me how busy they were with large events and I felt like our wedding definitely got brushed under the table and was not a priority for them at all. They did have great ideas, but as somebody who was working within a budget and did not have unlimited money for décor, I could not use them for our event. I have signed a contract with another décor company, Amarylis, who has done 5 revisions to the initial proposal within a month and were very willing to adjust things to fit our needs. It is 3 months before our wedding(6 months after our initial meeting), and I am still waiting on a final proposal from Gala(never told them we are using another company).
