I’ve been a loyal customer to the Ruby Room since it’s early days. I got an appointment on a whim when I was bored with my old hairdresser. I’ve lived in Miami and NYC and been to all kinds of hair salons, but still rush to the Ruby Room when I’m back in Massachusetts. My stylist there is Selena and I recommend her to all my friends – she really listens to what you want and asks how you like it as she works. We’ve all had those moments of horror when you ask for a trim and suddenly you lost half your hair, or you brought in a picture of Jennifer Aniston’s sun-kissed hair and got a skunk look instead – but that is NEVER the case with Selena. Plus she remembers little tid-bits of information about you & has a pleasant conversation. I must say though, that their prices have been creeping up over the last few years, but I guess that’s expected. Definitely give them a try.

You won’t be disappointed with your haircut or your color here, but you may be disappointed with your service. My primary complaint was with the owner of the salon, Audrey. Her attitude and customer service are quite lacking. I chose this salon for my wedding because I had been a customer for quite some time. I got married Labor Day weekend and she would not allow me to schedule our party for this holiday weekend, which was obviously booking up quickly, until April/May of that year. On the day of my wedding, after everyone had their hair and makeup done, she accused my cousin of not paying and we had to rifle through our bags and purses as we were leaving to show proof of having paid. She was fairly unpleasant about the matter on an understandably stressful day. To add to things, she did my Mother’s hair and burned her forehead with a curling iron on my wedding day! She made no attempt to reconcile this matter, nor did she apologize. I/we have not returned to this salon since then, nor have I or will I recommend anyone to this salon for these reasons.
