Just overall one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I understand town locals don’t love tourists(I live in SF after all), but you’re a deli on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere across the street from a beach. You’re going to have tourists. The service was almost non-existent. I almost left after standing at the front counter ignored in an empty restaurant for over 15 minutes, but I really just wanted a sandwich. So I stuck it out, ordered, and waited some more. After almost a half hour, I got my cold-cut sandwich and some wickedly burnt fries. Annoying.

We read the reviews on Unilocal!and were ready to enjoy some lunch. We arrived at 1:35PM on Saturday afternoon. We found the deli in the market. There was one employee there who did not look up from where he was leaning on the counter engrossed in his smart phone. We located the deli counter with a few premade sandwiches within, racks of chips around and an obscured menu board hidden behind the rack of postcards. The place reeks of stale cigarette smoke. We stood at the deserted counter long enough for the clerk(?) to look at us and return to his device. We walked out.

Great place to grab a burrito & a beer after a surf. Also has a decent breaky. Good prices, good mexican, great views & open early. Pretty sweet all around.

I want to give one star but since I didn’t actually buy anything I’ll put two. I walked in looking for a lunch snack. The guy mopping the floor looked pissed at me and there was no one else around. That was the entire greeting I got. I looked around for lunch food, because it’s also a grocery, asked if they had sandwiches and was directed via a point to a cold case in which there was one sparse panini, four wrapped turkey sandwiches and a couple wrapped breakfast burritos. No one behind the counter. All for seven dollars or more, and they looked pretty bad. That’s the deli?!? You can’t order a sandwich?(Im sure you can but the guy working was not gonna help me out). Then I asked how much the chips were. The guy said«huh?» I asked how much the kettle chips were. One small bag at over two dollars. What?! Now I also needed to get my water bottle refilled and use the bathroom at wherever I ate and i got the feeling this guy was gonna give me a hard time for needing those things too. Not to mention there were some seriously strung out hostile looking young guys sitting at the bus stop next to the lovely patio. Definitely not the experience I was hoping to have after a fun but tiring morning at the tidepools. Really happy I left and headed over to the Whale café.

Day One of the Honeymoon Excursion 1÷1÷13(True Story) We are 200 miles from home and my wife has no idea where we are headed. I decide to drive down to Santa Cruz to we can take a nice cruise up the coast to San Francisco. Along the way hunger strikes. Finally I pulled over along the highway and pull up Unilocal on my phone. Here just a few hundred feet is a highly rated little deli. We decide«Sure why not?» That was easily the best food decision I would make that day! This place would be one of my favorite deli’s of all time! It’s just a quite little market. We chit-chat with the friendly people behind the counter. I order a tasty Roast Beef and Pastrami on Rye with Sun Dried Peppers and all the other goodies. She gets a Tuna Salad Sandwhich on Rye. We take our sandwiches and walk across the highway to go sit along the cliffs over looking the ocean. One bite and I was hooked. If I could eat at this deli every single day, I probably would. The sun dried peppers really hit the spot on this sandwich. YUM! The Tuna Salad was also quite fantastic. If you happen to be in the area this place is a must stop for the hungry traveler!

Amazing paninis and lots of sun on the patio. I had the turkey, pesto, avo, spinach panini and the flavors were delicioso! I will be needing more! Oh, and this place deserves a mention that it is also a well stocked convenience store.

What great food we had at this deli! The fresh beet salad is delicious. We had curry rice, tuna salad and even pizza. Our large group sat outside and enjoyed wine with our lunch. Now for the tritip panini– this can’t be beat! This is a great stop and has a beautiful view.

WOW! This is the best thing that’s happened in Davenport in years(unless you’re talking about spectacular sunsets). Everything I’ve tasted in this deli has been above and beyond delicious. Chef Anthony is talented and friendly. It’s a great place to get a quick perfect something to eat or to lounge and enjoy as much as you can manage to squeeze in because it’s all delicious! Thanks for coming to my town! JD
