I only wish the Harrison Street rehabilitation work didn’t have to force a temporary closure… Can’t wait until you reopen! The best gyros outside of Greektown Chicago.

As previously stated by another Unilocaler — why would you not turn around and go back to a place that looks like this spot! Located on the right as you approach downtown Davenport on Harrison, it’s both a blast from the past — as it looks like a burger joint from the 60’s — and a treat from abroad with their delicious Gyros. I had the pleasure of meeting the King Gyro — $ 2 more for double the meat. This thing was the size of small basketball and seriously tasty. They were a little aggressive with the onions as there seemed to be roughly one full onion on this beast, but it was tamed by the delicious cucumber sauce and tomatoes that gracefully balanced the white slices of flare. The amount of Gyro meat on this thing was pretty impressive and definitely worth the $ 7 price tag. Plenty of other options were present, but the Gyro was so good, it’s why I’ll be back. The fries were less impressive, but still good. Again, however, I advise you to save yourself for yonder King Gyro, it’s solid! Few bar spots to eat inside and a VHS playing TV had a movie on that was probably played on TBS a lot in the early 90’s — lots of movement on a slightly grainy films — Ah nostalgia, but I digress. Seriously, the food is excellent and it’s probably best to go. Worth trying and worth going back!

Six-dip Italian Beef with hot peppers? Don’t mind if I do. Good place for a quick, albeit messy bite.

After having issues in the past, I gave them another try because there aren’t many delivery options here. I specifically asked that they not give me huge chunks of meat(gyros are meant to be shaved, right?) and was told they only do that when they reach the end of the meat, but it wouldn’t happen this time. So I order and yet again I’m delivered a ball of dry meat chunks. I can’t remember the last time I got a cube shaped hamburger from another restaurant, let alone after requesting that they prepare it properly and being assured they would. I’m done with this place.

Small just a few chairs inside and an outside table. If you are paying with plastic there is a .35 cent charge debit or credit. Tried the King Gyro meal, fairly priced but unfortunately was pretty bland for my tastes and the bread was not very good for pita. It was an ok sandwich, but I think Dr. Gyros is better if you are looking for a gyro around here.
