2nd Street Storage

Pros: Indoor storage, passive climate control, clean, more recent construction (might have been built in 2009 or 2010), bathroom, carts, broom and dustpan
Cons: Narrow access times on the weekends, pricey, security key fob requirement for the elevator.
I started my services with 2^nd Street Storage this past December and just ended with them two weeks ago (¹¹⁄₂₀₁₄). The tour and the sign-​up process was very easy to follow and the attendant spoke clearly and concisely. I don’t expect much from a storage unit business, but they had many opportunities to obfuscate terms and conditions that they DID NOT do! :)
They require a 10-​day notice for vacating the leased unit, which I adhered to. For being a good tenant, they rewarded me with a $ 5 gift card and I reward them with this review! I had no surprises, no hidden fees, and constant communication for payment time and payment processing.
My only grievance was with the security key fob. It allows you to enter the main premises through the main doorway from the loading dock or to the stairwell. I did not like that I had to use it to enter the 2^nd floor from the elevator or the stairway door. Yes, the second floor apparently needs that extra level of security. Yes, I needed that same key-​fob to enter the location needed to have access to the elevator or stairwell. It’s a bother when holding a box or so.
In conclusion, my experience with 2^nd street storage was so positive that I felt sad in a way for ending it. I moved to Sacramento so there really wasn’t a point in keeping a storage unit 15 miles away. They did not upset me nor do anything to prompt me to terminate services. I highly recommend them for their always positive demeanor, clean facilities, and large loading dock. That is, if you can live with the minor annoyance with the key-​fob.

The place is clean. It’s indoor and they have a passive cooling system where they suck in the cold morning air to keep the place relatively cool during those hot summer days. The staff members are friendly. They have a couple of carts you can use to move your things.

I needed a place to store my things for fall quarter while I was out of Davis, and 2^nd street storage was my pick. I was renting for 4 months, and he gave me one month for free. The storage is all inside and very secure; you need a key to get into the building itself! The management was very helpful and friendly. I would use 2^nd street storage again.
