I hadn’t been on E Street in Davis in months and was please to see the Pita Pit was closed. I only tried it once and found the service hyperbolic, the food ordinary to bland, and the price way too high. Considering there are a couple of places within walking distance that you can get an authentic pita, I wondered how this chain lasted as long as it did. Based on the number of good reviews, my guess is the management created an inconsistent environment, so some days it was great, and other days not. Too bad the only time I went was one of their really NOT days.

I want you to imagine your local Subway. Now, take way the bread/subs and replace them with pitas/gyros of a similar quality/size/value. Next, increase the variety of ingredients just a little, jack the prices up, and extend the business hours until well past midnight. Voilà! You’ve just visited Pita Pit. I would probably have never eaten here, but it’s a decent option for late night food in a town where everything closes at nine. I would normally encourage people to try this place for themselves, but Pita Pit is now ‘temporarily closed’ due to ‘financial concerns.’

I just don’t understand what the big deal is about this place. They use pretty fresh ingredients but everytime I go, one pita is pretty much like a snack and i’m still hungry and don’t wanna drop another $ 4 – 5 for another pita that won’t fill me up. The mystery will continue.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. eeeeeeeeeeeeek. ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. that’s how i feel. it was just… meh. i guess i made a bad combo? my bf liked his a lot. i guess it depends on your sauce, too. i’d say. it’s kinda expensive. kinda. ehhhhh. i seriously don’t have anything else to say about this place — it’s not bad, and it’s not good. just see for yourself.

I don’t get why there’s been so many bad reviews of this place! I LOVEDIT! The sandwiches are super healthy, big, and scrumptious! I got a steak sandwich last time I came and I really ended up SUPER full. It’s nice eating something that is not only satisfying, but really healthy too. I liked it a lot. My friend first took me here and I was so thankful he did because I come here every so often still. It’s a little hidden but it’s still delish. The price is a tad-bit up there but it’s okay. Satisfaction and full stomachs are priceless ;) This place is like Subway or something, but once you actually eat the sandwich, you’d be thinking: «DUDE, screw Subway. Let me be healthy over here at Pita Pit!»

Good place for a quick bite. I like the fact that if you order vegeterian, they put on fresh gloves to prepare the meal. Most times the service is very friendly. Very good prices.

I came here a couple of years ago during picnic day after hearing so much about the place.(It didn’t open until after I graduated) I came away fairly lukewarm about the food here, but I don’t think it’s bad enough to deserves a 2 star review. The pita was made to order, and the ingredients seemed pretty fresh and the way you like it. I didn’t particularly like my pita, but didn’t hate it either. I can simply say the food here is pretty cheap and it’s done fast, thus making it a good College town stop. Would I come back here? Probably not, but you really could do a lot worse.

OMG! how did I not ever know about this place? Initially, I was annoyed my all the choices(I hate making decisions), but once I placed my order and devoured my pita, I couldn’t believe what a great concept this was. Thankfully, the staff was extremely helpful and my Chicken Crave Pita was perfect. Unfortunately, not the most aesthetic for restaurants, but I was only there for the food.

There are several problems that keep Pita Pit from thriving. First, they appear to be forever understaffed. The only time in the past 6 months I’ve seen two employees working at the same time was when one was training another. So that leaves one super stressed person working their buns(no pun intended) off. Their Falafel was medocre, you’d be better off going to another place. Additionally, the food is so expensive, I find it hard to convince myself to go.

I was honestly surprised with this place. The clerk was friendly and efficient and I enjoyed my pita. I recommend a whole wheat pita with falafel, cucumber yogurt(don’t remember the real name) spread, mushrooms, bell peppers, red onions, and cheese. Yummy.

What can I say about Pita Pit? Well the name aptly describes this place. It’s a pit. It belongs in a mall, a very ghetto mall. I did get a free pita once and how can you complain? Only redeeming factor really is that is is open late. After bar hopping, when you just need a sponge in your stomach, you can go to Pita Pit. I have ordered the«Philly Cheese Steak» pita before. It has meat and cheese. I really don’t want to waste any more time reviewing this place. The End.

As far as food goes, Pita Pit makes healthy, good-tasting food. That said, the pitas are overpriced and it’s far from an authentic pita. The gyro is very Spam-like and are kept underneath the grill. A little weird. Being a part of the Davis community, you really don’t have alternatives to getting a downright gyro. But Pita Pit makes delicious sandwiches regardless.

I was really dissatisfied with this place. Mostly because it seems really, really overpriced. My boyfriend and I shared a pita, a green salad, and a soda and it came to $ 14. We were kind of shocked. I actually think we were overcharged based on the prices listed on the menu, but I didn’t realize it until later. If it had been super delicious and wonderful I would have been happy paying that much, but for anemic vegetables and frozen processed chicken breast? No thanks.

Umm. if this is your favorite pita place. all I have to say is «ewwW!» Pitas are NOT authentic! You should not have to pick and choose which stuffings you want in your pita. Also the way they store meat in a compartment under the stove is way creepy. *shudders*

If I went to UCD I would get the falafel wrap from here at least once a week… Assuming that they actually follow what I order and give me a microwaved falafel wrap. I’m a vegetarian and I did not like having my falafel cruise around with the meat after a REALLY, REALLYNICE $ 3 tip and a DIRECTORDER for«microwave, please». The tzakiki sauce was a bit too much… Next time I’m going to try it dry, but that’s because I don’t usually like white sauces with my sandwiches/pitas/etc. The HUGGGEEE falafel pita sandwich was nicely filling, though. Despite the crappy service I really liked my pita! It gets 4⁄5 stars for being the most appealing restaurant out of all of Davis.

i had a craving for pita pit one night right before going to bed. nothing was stopping me from going. not even the business hours of this place, seeing as they open way into the wee hours of the night(3 am) i could have gone, but unfortuately, sleepiness overcame me with such intensity that i had to put my cravings aside until the next day. i ordered 2 chicken craze’s, one for me, one for my friend. this little corner shop makes wonderfully delicious pita’s. however, unless you want to spend the next several hours chugging water or anything to quench your thirst, request that they don’t drown your healthy selection of vegetables in sauce. for my pita, i added every single vegetable they offer. i mean, what’s the point of having a full buffet of veg choices when you only ask for romaine lettuce and olives?! the lady ordering before me obviously could care less. but i won’t judge. i also asked for the dijon mustard and caesar dressing, of which the server squirted in vast amounts. in the end, my craving for pita pit was satisfied. and as an additional bonus, it was delicious and the service, not too shabby. i’d go again the next time i’m swamped with desire for another pita. perhaps i’ll go wild and try the gyro with tzatziki sauce. but only until i’ve comfortably mastered the pronunciation of the word.

Get the gyro pita with tsaziki sauce — hold the pickles! It’s great, very filling, and very healthy!

This place is the ultimate college town food spot. It’s open til like 3AM. It also makes a BIG difference on what you get. One time my friend got the Dijon Mustard and they like plastered that pita with it. Too much mustard! I’ll spare you, get the secret sauce! It tastes kind of like italian, olive oil maybe in it. I dunno, but its sooo good. Have them satay your meat in it and then have them squirt some more secret sauce in the pita after they put in all your other mix ins. Makes it more juicy. It’s basically like subway, except in a pita with an excellent sauce and a college student friendly atmosphere.

A friend and I were driving around downtown late one night, and we saw the lights on at the Pita Pit. It had been a while since I had been back to Davis, and I didn’t remember a quasi-fast food joint open this late anywhere in town, so we stopped in to take a look. I wasn’t expecting much. Wow. I’m not sure what’s in the special sauce(actually, they told me once, I can’t remember — some sort of vinegar and olive oil hybrid?), but it’s finger-smacking good. Eating outside while listening to the music playing next door at Soga’s helped the ambience a bit; the interior of Pita Pit’s a little tacky.

Four stars for the fresh-healthy food, and especially for getting college kids on a budget their servings of vegetables. So I usually half almost everything with my boyfriend, it helps keep the portions down, plus we save a lot of money that way, but not last night. I was hungry and I ate a whole chicken breast pita all by myself, and I felt no remorse, cause I filled that thing up with almost every vegetable they offered. When I got my pita back w/all the toppings it was super huge, and their Tzatziki sauce was tasty – not too tangy but not too rich. The guys behind the counter seemed to hate their job, they didn’t even say a word to eachother the whole time my friends and I were in there. But what do you expect from college boys who are just trying to pay their tuition and get by? Ehh, I don’t blame them… they still get four stars, also because they close @ 1 or 3 am. Finally… something healthy to eat late at night!!! I thank them greatly for providing a better alternative to two for $.99 jack in the crack tacos.
