Style Lounge

Style Lounge is a super cool, very clean, relaxed feeling salon with an awesome team of stylists. I was a mess walking in, and these pros made me look & feel great walking out. Love this place!

Exactly what Rebecca M. had stated. I came in for an appointment at 10. Jerry did not touch my hair until noon! Two hours after my appointment. I had asked for a trim and to die my hair with an ombré look. Instead of working to put the bleach on my hair first (which requires waiting time) he cut 3 other customer’s hair. He told me he would be back in 5 minutes but he didn’t come back until 40 minutes later! 5 hours after I got there, they told me I needed to come back to finish it because they ran out of time. Before starting anything, I said I needed to leave by 2:30 to which he replied, «no problem, super easy!». He left for another hour and when I repeated when I needed to leave, «um, we’ll do our best».
Jerry didn’t even take time to cut my hair, he took the bottom and just snipped two times and called it done.
On top of that, when dye was being applied, he didn’t do it, he ordered his assistant to dye it. They charged me $ 130 for an unfinished amateur job. I have another appointment to come back to finish it but I’m thinking I’m going to cancel and find a professional salon.

My Unilocal review is long overdue. My daughter, while a student at UC Davis, introduced me to Jerry and Julia about 9 years ago and I have never let anyone else touch my hair since. I have slightly curly hair, i.e., just enough curl to vex just about every stylist I have ever been to, and not enough to hide simple mistakes, until of course, I went to the Style Lounge. It’s the nicest salon I have ever been to, and over the years Jerry and Julia have become dear friends, as well as trusted stylists. I used to color my hair and they always produced the most natural looking results and my hair was always healthy and shiny despite processing. I use Henna at home now because I am retired and had to make some budget cuts, but I still go to them to cut my hair. Julia recently added the «Deva Curl» cut and program to their services, and I have to say that my hair cuts are even more spectacular than before. My hair has movement and bounce and my curls fall in all the right places. A day after shampooing and just combing and air drying, my hair looks like It had been styled with a curling iron or hot rollers. The Deva Cut is amazing, and my 45 minute drive up to Davis is worth it. If you have curly hair, especially long curly hair like me, I highly recommend trying the Deva cut at the Style Lounge. I love my hair, and they are the reason why. They will try and take a walk in, but it’s always best to call ahead and ask for an appointment, especially on a Saturday.

Words cannot describe the horrible service I received from JERRY. I came in to have my blonde hair lightened I told him not to get bleach on my scalp because I had an allergic reaction in the past. He got bleach on my scalp and when I told him I was having an allergic reaction he then stopped and told me to wait as he worked on another clients hair. My palms started to get red and itch I told him for a SECOND time that I’m having an allergic reaction so he had his asst wash out the product. My face then started to swell and I started to panic. He then charged me $ 130 and told me to come back the next day to finish. He quoted me $ 60 for the next service. I came back the next day to have him finish my hair but he ended up frying my hair. He had 3 other clients he was working on the same time as me which caused him to leave the bleach on too long which severely damaged my hair. Chunks of my hair were coming out as they washed the bleach out. He then had the audacity to charge me an additional $ 180 because he had to re-​due my hair due to his negligence. I asked him why he was charging me that much when he quoted me $ 60 the day before. He said he charges by the hr. I told him I am not paying extra because he had to re-​due my hair due to his negligence. Doesn’t make sense to charge by the hr when you’re working on 3 other clients at the same time that are sitting around waiting on you as you work on other people. I can’t even touch my hair without hair breaking off and my hair feels like straw. He never even apologized. Overall he seemed more concerned with how many chairs he can turn over than focusing on the quality of work. Word of advice JERRY if you put bleach on someone’s hair you need to check it every 5 min, this would of never happened if you didn’t triple book. Also if someone says they had an allergic reaction you need to take that seriously!

I have been going to the Style Lounge for the last year and a half or so, and have had my hair cut and highlighted 5 — 6 times by Julia. I have loved my hair each time. I have a lot of trust in Julia’s skill and opinion. I appreciate the time she takes at the beginning of each appointment to discuss what I want. She is also really good about making suggestions that end up looking great.
I was especially appreciative because at my most recent appointment, I got low lights that in the few days afterward I worried were a tad too dark for my liking. When I called, Jerry and Julia welcomed me back to adjust it. Julia made me feel very comfortable and not at all guilty about making the adjustments. I’ve loved my experiences so far, but this most recent experience made me so confident in this salon. I won’t go anywhere else.

Style Lounge was great. Craig cut my hair and he did a great job. He was really friendly and gave a sweet head massage too. Would definitely go back again!

Craig is the best ever!!! I moved away and tried other stylists, but nobody could match his work! Such a great guy, too :) :)

I had a hair cut with Julie last Friday, and it was a great experience. She was friendly and professional and I will definitely be back. I have very long, slightly wavy hair and she cut my layers in a way that really complements my hair texture. I have been very happy with it this week — a true wash and go cut!
The customer before me seemed unhappy with their style and she handled the interaction very well, making a follow up appointment for that afternoon and taking the time to discuss exactly what the woman wasn’t happy with (I thought she looked nice but I obviously don’t know what she had asked for). It’s good to know that if I was ever unhappy, they would work to fix it!

When it comes to my hair, I am very particular with who I let cut and style it. I was hesitant to give this place a try, but on a whim I decided to go for it. The whole process from booking to blow-​drying was amazing. The service and staff were very friendly, my stylist was Craig, and he knew his stuff. He was helpful and able to give me exactly what I wanted. Craig is a hair God! His attention to detail is spot on, his conversations are appropriately funny, he engages in the customer and his love for hair really shows in his work. My hair is usually very thick and frizzy, and with the blowout, Craig was able to tame my beast of a mane and I left feeling confident and sexy. Best hairstyle I’ve gotten in a long time, I urge every women and man who wants to feel and look fabulous to book your hair appointments and colors with Craig, he will do wonders to your hair and keep you smiling throughout the whole process! Plus ladies he’s a cutie (A bonus to look at while getting your cut by an expert!)

I’ve been in three salons in Davis and this one was the best so far. Jerry did a very professional job, he cut my hair exactly as I wanted and spent as much time as needed with me, no rush. He also gave me good tips about my specific type of hair and some samples of the products he used on me. He even invited me for a complimentary second haircut in a few weeks!
Maybe it’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it if you care about your hair and image.

My car broke down and I went into this business to use their phone. 1. All the customers looked beautiful! and happy to be there. 2. The stylists and owner were SO NICE. I must have been there for over an hour. one of the stylists took a look at my car, another was offering me water, someone else offered to hold my baby while I dealt with the phone and my triple A card. Hands down best service ever and I am not even a customer. What sweet people, I will definitly be coming back :)

I love how nice everyone is in there and Craig did an amazing job on my hair! Love the head massage while getting my hair washed. Craig also gave me tips on what products to use and how to use them. He helped me so much today! More than I was expecting. Love this place (:

Ask for Craig. Probably the best stylists in davis for men’s cuts and Brazilian blow outs etc. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend. Will come again.

Jerry is awesome! I don’t let anyone else touch my hair (other than his assistants obviously). I am the type of person who doesn’t really know want to have done to my hair, but Jerry knows! He knows what colors will work for me and what style will work. I say I want short and sassy or short and business etc, and he works his magic. (BTW for years he told me go short, I should have listened sooner). He is an artist. I (mostly) stay out of his work and let him do his thing, I trust him whole heartedly to make my hair beautiful. He is a funny man too, so come with a sense of humor and you won’t be bored either!

These guys are amazing! I refuse to get my haircut anywhere else. I don’t even tell them what to do. I just walk in and let them do their thing because I have absolute confidence that I will leave satisfied.

I brought photos of a hairstyle that I wanted Jerry to cut for me. By the end of the hair appointment, Jerry made my haircut look even better than the photos I brought!
Julia and the staff are super friendly. They showed me how to style my new haircut. They’re terrific at making everyone feel pampered!

My experience here didn’t start out so great. Long story short, I went in for a specific color, then FOUR hours later came out with a very different color than I had expected. Three different people had worked on my hair. I told Paula, the last person to have touched my hair that it wasn’t the color I was expecting and she told me after a few washes it’ll fade to what I wanted. Well. I didn’t pay $ 165 to wash out my color.
I went back the next day to complain to Jerry that this wasn’t the color that I wanted, so he told me to make a new appointment to get the hair I wanted, free of charge this time. This made me feel a little better.
I went back on my appointment day, had spent another 5 hours redo-​ing, testing strands etc just to make sure i’d be getting the color that I wanted. Julia was WONDERFUL, she was helpful in getting the exact color I wanted. She had worked on my hair for most of that day and it came out perfect.
This would have been a 5 star experience had I not had to go back a second time to redo it.

These guys are super great and very nice! I’ve been going here for a couple of years and have not been disappointed! Normally I get the same haircut everyone but these guys have convinced me to branch out and I’ve been pleasantly surprised! I fight

I absolutely love this salon! They are the hands down the best place in town to get my hair colored. My natural hair color is dark brown but they have managed to transform my hair into a vibrant red and purple on separate occasions. I especially sing high praises for stylists Julia, Brooke, and Becky, they have done wonderful jobs with coloring and highlighting my hair.
I have been coming to this salon since 2012 because they simply do the best job. Albeit it being a little pricey, I think that it’s a great investment and worth every dollar!

My first visits to the style lounge was a rush on a lunch break to get ready for unexpected plans. I told them my situation they had me out the door in 20 minutes with the best fade I have ever had.
Second visit I went in for the same cut with no rush and it was a great endeavor. After a glass of good champagne and my cut finished we had scheduled and appointment for 2 hours later for some color. I wanted to be surprised with some dramatic yet natural color and left it in their hands. After coming back and a very quick color, thanks to their wet heat, I left with an amazing shoe shine color job.
Stylist Brooke is amazing, has great talent with color and delivering the look you desire! The owner is a kick in the pants and fun to have for a second opinion and company.
My two complaints are the lack of raspberries for the champagne and that they don’t like Beyoncé! ;)
