Sundstrom Hill Winery

The winery is located in a industrial area in Davis. Sundstrom Hill Winery is well decorated with wine barrels and stainless steel give it a industrial look. Be sure to call ahead as the winery is open on certain days otherwise tasting can be done by appointment. We went on April 4^th on a day when they were open. They had a band playing under a tent in the parking lot, and Chef Wong (unrelated to the winery) was serving delicious salmon. We tasted first. A fee of $ 5 is required and is NOT waived if you purchase additional alcohol (glass of wine or bottle).
Sandstrom Hill Winery has a wide variety of wines. Our pallet traditionally lends towards big, bold, fruity peppery red wines. We enjoyed their Crimson (blend of Syrah and Zinfandel) and their Syrah, having 2 glasses and purchasing three bottles.
We gave a four star rating only because the person pouring the wine rolled her eyes several times while tasting. I recognized her as a person who works within the Davis School District.
This is a small family owned winery run by a husband and wife couple (and I believe their daughter). We enjoyed ourselves and will repeat next month at their May 2^nd.
