I was on an impossible mission trying to look for a bracelet to fit my teeny tiny wrists so walked into this place on a whim. The owner(I think) was polite and attentive despite there being other people in the store, who seemed like they were regulars. After I showed her a picture of the one shoulder burnt orange dress I was trying to find accessories for, she asked me a few other questions like what sort or event it was going to, what my regular style was etc, and then went through the store and came up with all these great different combinations and alternatives. Some, I wouldn’t have even thought of. She was great, and not pushy or judgmental(even though I clearly looked like a poor college student). And I loved the collection she had in her store. From locally made products, to exquisite items, The Wardrobe seems to have something for everyone(another customer came in and bought this beautiful Eileen Fisher top for a wedding she was attending soon). Overall, it is a really nice place to check out if you are looking for accessories, bags, scarves and clothes, and a great place to find a gift for that special someone too.

The Wardrobe has been in Davis for years, and so have I, and I’ve shopped there for over a decade. While some items are pricey, much of what they offer is unique – offering the chance to have interesting clothes, jewelry and accessories. I love buying friends gifts there. I’m motivated to write a review now to say that I appreciate that the owner, Heather Caswell, answered my plea for a local auction donation. It’s hard to be a thriving business in any town, in Davis, there’s additional pressure to «perform.» I know that lots of smaller businesses are asked to donate to numerous charities. In this case, Heather’s willingness to do so has swung public opinion in her favor: shop at the Wardrobe: It’s important to support stores and people who make our town better!

This is a very nice upscale shop. Love the colors and fabrics, and the styles are current, yet classic. I’m a bargain hunter, so I would love to see more sales, but I always find lots of things I like there…

The older I get, the more I truly appreciate people with style, taste, and discretion who create small businesses in out-of-the-way places. Heather, the proprietor of The Wardrobe in the heart of downtown Davis, has the panache and selection worthy of a larger city and the heart and drive to position her establishment in little Davis, California. The Wardrobe offers a careful selection of eclectic jewelry, hats, and shoes, as well as cotton, lace, and beaded bustieres, blouses, skirts, dresses, coats, and shawls. Sue Wong features prominently among the more formal gowns. Whether you’re just out browsing, or looking for something specific and special, I highly reccomend The Wardrobe — even if it seems a little out of the way(for us Sacramentans and beyond). In return for visiting, you will garner one-on-one service and attention, a quiet atmosphere in which to browse the beautiful wares, and — more likely than not — rewards for your labor. I’m getting married in less than a month, and up until this evening I’ve been dressless. This afternoon my mother informed me that this level of procrastination is utterly ridiculous. «You get out there and buy a dress, you idiot,» is how I think she put it. I sheepishly cut out of work early this evening and headed for The Wardrobe. Having seen some photographs of dresses and a list of the labels they carry on their website, I was seeking something unique, funky, and non-traditional. Something, how do you say, Sue Wong-esqe. Heather spent about two hours assisting me with my endeavor. After deciding that the very first dress I tried on was, perhaps, «the one», she brought out several matching shawls that clinched the deal. After a few people try on the same dress, beadwork can get a bit worn. The Wardrobe offers those who purchase dresses full price free beadwork repair, with a quick turnaround. When I return to pick up my new dress this weekend, I plan on trying it on again and spending some time amongst the cases of gorgeous necklaces.
