Not very impressive. I ordered hot and sour soup and egg rolls. Hot and sour soup was standard, but the gigantic egg rolls were not good at all. They taste was completely off — not sure if it was the oil they were fried in or their prep — there was an overpowering«tin» like taste to them. Four of them cut in half looked like eight egg rolls, and they looked breaded. The server was surprised with my dissatisfaction, left and came back to see if I’d try another dish, and I chose the pot stickers which were also HUGE. They were standard and very doughy. The ambience is minimal, and my food arrived before my utensils and napkin. Not a pleasant experience.

I really dig Wok of Flame. They’d get 5 stars if the food was spicier, but even when I ask for extra spicy, they’re holding out on me! The salt & pepper chicken is my favorite dish, although my partner got the sesame chicken which is also really damn good. I like their wonton soup quite a bit and the chow mein is delicious. Potstickers are good. Egg roll was too greasy for me to enjoy, but that is often the case most places. I need to branch out and try more dishes, but it’s hard when the salt & pepper chicken is so damn good!

My boyfriend and I were driving back to Sacramento from the Vacaville outlets and we wanted some food. I found this place from searching on Unilocal and we decided to try it. We ordered the egg rolls, egg flower soup, honey walnut shrimp and salt and pepper mushrooms. Everything was great! We aren’t usually in Davis that often but if we are and we want Chinese food, we will be coming back here.

Service and pricing were average. Plenty of selections for entrees(Lunch Special) that comes with your choice of two sides and hot soup. The portions were generous and the food was served quick and hot. Would recommend splitting a Lunch Special if you’re not terribly hungry.

Went here for lunch today. It was my second time here. The first time I ordered Kung Pao Shrimps. It was bland, with barely any Kung Pao flavor. I thought it was a fluke, so I gave it a second chance by coming back today. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, because it’s really hard to mess up on, and every Chinese fast food has it which gives me a basis for comparison. Still bland. And the Chicken was salty. I felt like I was eating salted chicken. The sauce was bland. I don’t recommend Kung Pao anything here at Wok of Flames. Service was good, but I’m here to fill up my tummy and not to socialize. I can’t judge any other dishes, though, because I haven’t had them. But I don’t recommend King Pao anything here.

The Silver Dragon was my favorite spot in Davis, but they closed. This place was recommended by a friend, and today finds my 5th visit. They have their own spin on a few traditional Chinese dishes you’d find in other restaurants. I’m somewhat a creature of habit when it comes to Chinese. I always order Salt and Pepper Tofu, and Beef Chow Fun(dry). It’s prepared perfect every time. The only downside is that certain dishes can be pricey and the place itself can be packed full of hungry people. So you might have a wait. But this is a great place. Very clean and trendy. You won’t be disappointed.

HAVEAGAIN: lemon chicken, chow mein, beef and broccoli all were very good. NOTHAVEAGAIN: sweet and sour pork had small chunks of meat overwhelmed by the breading.

So with Chinese food, it’s either authentic and gud af or its super bland and not authentic at all. THIS was not authentic at all. Very disappointed, too bad Four Seasons wasn’t open. If you guys want authentic, go to Four Seasons. We ordered: – Spicy Mandarin Chicken: spicyness level was a –2 aka not spicy at all and for $ 10, they didn’t give a lot. – Green Bean w/Garlic Sauce: very bland green beans, no hint of garlic at all. – Mapo Tofu: again, usually a spicy dish, was not spicy at all, and I thought Mapo tofu usually came with ground pork? And that the tofu didn’t come in big chunks? – Large rice: came in a pretty small togo container and it tasted like Davis water like tf lmao ALLINALL i wouldn’t come here again booooo sad

I had a surprisingly good time here; their combination plate is amazing — great quantity, the coconut shrimp fits perfectly with the noodles, and overall the four parts of the combination plate give a solid mix of textures and tastes. I highly recommend, and pretty much always order one of the two soups, an egg roll which is surprisingly large, and the coconut shrimps with noodles and vegetables.

Don’t believe the hype… The food is mediocre at best, way over priced, and is unfortunatley the only decent chinese joint around now since Jade Garden closed. JG was the real deal but I guess money talks and they got bought out :’(.

Service is always great and the food taste fresh. I usually get sick after eating chinese food but this place never gets me sick. It’s delicious, and if you get a combo platter it comes with soup and an apetizer item. Their wonton soup is so yummy! And my favorite is their potstickers.

I tried this on a Thursday night after my finals with a friend and he said that hes heard nothing, but raving reviews about this place. The restaurant is set up in a very modern and Asian type of atmosphere, a nice fancy place to go for a date. However, the server didn’t ask us if we needed recommendations or what the popular items were after asking us if we were ready 3x all ready. Their menu is huge and definitely not fun for indecisive people like myself! My friend and I decided on the pork with vegetables and spicy mongolian beef. The beef was definitely better than the pork as it was full of meat and the pork tasted slightly warm, not flavorful and pretty dry. The vegetables that came with it had thick cornstarch sauce that seems like frozen veggies or can. But honestly, this place tastes like Panda Express and not real Chinese food… Its double the price of Panda with a fancier display and a fancier place, lol. If you want real Chinese food, go to Sacramento, the Bay or even Four Seasons(which I heard has the best Chinese food). But if you’re feeling fancy for a place that charges you double for what you usually can get, go here. Haha

First time trying this place out. Ordered sort of late. Close to the place’s closing hour(8:30’ish). Ordered for pickup. Lady taking order through phone said 15 minutes for pickup. Arrived to the restaurant before 15 so waited in car. Went inside and surprisingly order was sitting waiting for pickup already. Ordered vegetable chow mein, orange chicken, and salt & pepper mushroom. Chow mein was OK. Wish there was more pepper. Orange chicken was pretty good. Loved the salt & pepper mushroom(def. a must try if you haven’t). Total came to around 30. I wouldn’t mind trying out their menu nor ordering again from this place.

I could not get a table of two a couple of Saturdays ago due to a long wait list, so I came here again a week later. There was no wait, and my girlfriend and I were seated promptly. We started off with a bowl of egg flower soup, which was delicious but on hindsight I think we can make this at home with chicken broth, cabbage, egg white and frozen carrots/peas medley. Our main dinner entrees were dry chow fun, string beans in black bean sauce, egg foo young, and general chicken. Other than the dry chow fun(thank god we got it dry), the rest of the entrees were drenched in brown gravy. According to my girlfriend, the general chicken tasted like the ones she bought from trader Joe’s. The egg foo young was a disappointment. I was expecting a circular egg pancake with pork bits in it, and it turned out to be a thick egg pancake with brown gravy and ham-like pork strips. The string beans was OK but again we got tired of the brown gravy sauce, and the string beans were too chewy and not crunchy. The chow fun was okay and a welcoming respite from the gravy-laden entrees. Two stars for the attentive service.

Food: I would choose Panda Express over this. The service was good, the food was not. My bf and I came here for lunch today because I was craving Chinese food. We both got our own Combination Platter which included a soup of choice(Wonton or sweet and sour soup), an appetizer(egg roll or cream cheese wonton), Accompanying course(pork fried rice, white rice, brown rice, or steamed vegetables), and the main course that determines the price. Ambiance: Spacious. Great for couples, groups, family to dine. Better than your average Chinese restaurants, but not fancy to the point where you have to dress up for it. More like Americanize Chinese. I chose the sweet and sour soup, egg roll(DONOTDOIT. It was pretty awful), pork fried rice(hard rice, tasted like cardboard), and mongolian beef(tender!). Sigh. I was pretty sad of the quality of food I just consumed. Location: In the same plaza of the Nugget off Mace. Parking: Plentiful of free parking Overall: Tried it once, the food didn’t keep me.

Wokka flokka damn. Talk about food coma-inducing guilty pleasures. I describe this place to my friends as the«fancy Panda Express». Their food is very Americanized, as well as the atmosphere of the place, but it’s still great. Keep in mind though, that my taste palette sometimes prefers Panda over legit Chinese food. Yes, this place is greasy. And it’s kinda expensive. But then again, you’re also paying for the environment and friendly service, unlike most Chinese restaurants. The lunch specials are great though. You get soup, two sides and a dish – the whole shabang. You can do the same for dinner except it’ll be an average of $ 14ish~ per meal. My one recommendation for anyone who comes here is to get the salt and pepper spare ribs. Not the saucey ones, but the deep fried ones. You might feel like crap afterwards, but trust me you will not regret it. Most of the other dishes don’t disappoint. 5 for fancy Panda.

Good stuff! Perhaps a bit over hyped. We will return to sample some more menu items. General Chicken was very good. Beijing Chicken was a bit too sweet. Overall both dishes felt like overly sauced and sweet americanized Chinese food. Large portions and the food was nice and temperature hot. Not very spicy. Hot a sour soup stood out. Cheese wontons did not. A step above your average Chinese restaurant. Service was good, despite being very busy. Clean and decent ambiance. Lots of menu choices and the combo deal is good. $ 13 on average for combo deals.

I’m not a huge Chinese food fan but this is my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in all of Davis. The service is fast, the restaurant is clean, and the food is consistently good. I’ve ordered many things off the menu over the years and I have never came across something I didn’t like. The portions are generous and well priced. I hope this place stays around for many more years to come.
