Linden Hall

A special treat to play a round of golf since boyhood, Linden Hall’s biggest problem has always been the pesky bugs on the course.
I remember everyone wearing dryer sheets under their hats to ward them off!
Green fee rates for Seniors are the best in WPa. With exception of #8, the Par 3 holes are super challenging. Par 5 holes are easiest holes on the course and the scenery on some holes on the back nine is special.
Well groomed.
Clubhouse is substandard, but employees are very nice.

Golfed here for a charity golf event this past weekend.
The golf course is in fairly good condition for the middle of September. No real dead spots. Tee boxes, greens and fairways are in good shape. The course is not extremely long at all and nice and wide open. There is not a ton of trouble you can get into here, though there are woods and water hazards around the course.
There is not much to the clubhouse. Offers the basic necessities. Fairly clean restrooms. The staff there is quite friendly and easy to talk to.
Overall this course is not overly difficult but because it is very well kept, it is quite fun to play. You are really able to score well here. There are also some nice views along the way. The course is way off the beaten path, down some narrow winding roads. If you are looking for a nice relaxing course that allows you to score well, give this place a try.

This review is based on a recent wedding we went to here. I had been here on other occasions to play golf and grab something to eat at the bar. The golf course itself is nicer than I expected and the bar staff is incredibly friendly.
The wedding was very nice, they put you up in a tent behind the building and we lucked out with some great weather. Our meal was very good although they certainly were understaffed at least initially.
My biggest complaint would be the hotel rooms. They are certainly serviceable and clean, but in dire need of some upgrades.
We had dinner the night before the wedding and breakfast the morning after at their buffet that is an incredible let down compared to ordering food from the bar. Lackluster set up, mediocre food, and just a bit of a mess. I’d recommend grabbing a couple drinks on the deck and a bite to eat from the bartenders for the best experience. Open faced steak sandwich is delicious — had it on another occasion.

I have never been so insulted in my life. Let me retell the story, as I had on their Facebook page and linden hall came back and insulted me and my photographer. I am going to be a senior in high school. And I saw pictures of linden hall and thought wow, what a beautiful place, it’d be perfect to take senior pictures at. Well when we got there we were told not to go near the mansion for there was a wedding going on. But we could take pictures on the grounds. Meaning we had permission. So we took pictures in the garden and while we were there this lady, who we later found out was linden hall’s wedding planner, came down and said to us, rather rudely, «are you with the party? Well then I need you to move because my party is coming down and I don’t need you in the shot» okay. Well we moved because we knew that was someone’s wedding day. (And if you didn’t know, it’s thousands of dollars or so to get married there. Which was something I was thinking about doing but I’ll pass. I’ll get better customer service at a 7 – 11) well the wedding party NEVER came down to the gardens. But that’s okay we moved to the stables. And the manger drove by. He was smiles and was waving at us from his golf cart. He didn’t stop and say anything. He kept going. Well when we walked around the stables. Still a ways away from the mansion he drives up to us after a few pictures.
«You can’t be here we have a wedding going on. The fee to take pictures is 150 dollars.»
My mom immediately told him we’d pay that.
He said no because that’s for inside the mansion. We didn’t want to go in the mansion. We didn’t even go near it.
We kept insisting that we pay and he denied.
And now I know why after checking there is no fee. I checked their website. It’s free to go and take pictures on the ground. I didn’t even find the fee for in the mansion pictures. So, thank you for that mr. Manager.
Well we asked if she, the wedding planner, complained. And he said no. Right after driving off, he drove up to the mansion and she walked right up to him. Pointed our way and seemed very unhappy.
On my review on Facebook linden hall wrote back telling me that my senior pictures are important. TO ME. because I don’t pay thousands of dollars, I’m not important. And my photographer, who has been in this business for thirty plus years, is not professional, is not as good as the photographer who taking pictures for the wedding. And I apparently was near the mansion because I was in the background of some pictures. But I would like proof because I was no where near. I’m a kid. I’m not out of high school and here they are treating me horribly. You wanted appreciation linden hall. Here you go. This will be posted on Facebook as well. Thank you for letting me take pictures then running me off the property.

I have grown up in this area, had my senior prom here, and one of my friends got married here. So when we were looking for a place for my daughter to take her senior pictures I showed her pictures of the mansion and grounds. (We live in Virginia now so we made a special trip) So I made arrangements, I hired a photographer and we drove up, when we got there a wedding was taking place and we were asked not to go near the mansion, so we didn’t. Half way through the wedding planner came down and rudely told us that we needed to move, as the wedding party was coming down to take pictures. We moved, but could still see the gardens, they never moved to take the pictures. Their photographs were taken at the mansion in the background, so they couldn’t pick us up in the background. While we were at the grounds keeping house /​stable two men drove by on golf carts smiling and waving, we waved back.
While taking more pictures at different areas of the stable, one of the men came back, telling us that they charge $ 150.00 for taking pictures, which I told him okay, I’ll pay. He then changed his mind, and said it was for pictures in the mansion, I told him we didn’t want to do pictures in the mansion. He then told us that it was okay and we could finish up.
Well needless to say that we took a couple more and left to another location. Inconveniencing my photographer and his assistant.
Customer service in this place is non-​existent and it shows that money is the only thing that matters to them, as they told my daughter in so many words that her senior pictures weren’t as important since the wedding couple paid thousands to have their wedding there and she didn’t pay! It’s free to go on the grounds by the way, and nothing posted stating that you have to pay to be on the grounds.
Now with that being said, if we were near the mansion I could understand why she got upset, because it does cost thousands of dollars to have your wedding here, but you’ll be treated better if you have your wedding at a church or a park, and reception at the local firehall!
Plus you could use some of those thousands on the honeymoon of your dreams!!!

I stayed here after cruising into town for a family reunion. The room was average; mostly what you’d expect from a $ 80-​$ 100 a night motel. The room was huge but dated, and seemed pretty clean. If you stay here DO NOT NAVIGATE HERE BY GPS! It will take you down a dirt road where it is likely you will be murdered, or so I was told by some locals. I happened to survive though. Anyway the breakfast was ok, the coffee was bad, and the cleaning lady seemed hell-​bent on getting my room cleaned whether I was in it or not. She keyed in while I was in the bathroom (I’m not kidding) and only a swift closing of the door prevented immodesty on my part. Also it is possible that the room was haunted. Not really worth the money unless you’re a golfer.
