I’ve been meaning to write a review for this place. This may be my favorite store at these outlets and I’m not ashamed to scream it to the whole wide world. I’m sort of picky so the simple act of going there does not guarantee that I’ll find the perfect thing. Admittedly, I usually do find things that I like but if the price is not right… One too many spending fiascos in my youth has made me cautious about blowing money. Cautious or downright tight-fisted, I’ve heard it both ways(see the usage of that phrase right there? Like a ninja…). Anyway, when there’s a great sale going on, i have snagged shoes, accessories, andclothes(like jeans, shirts, dresses, coats, sweaters, etc.) that last me years. Service is always nice. And though you may not care too much for the following recollection, I want to share it anyway. About 6 – 7 Black Fridays ago(maybe more, with the years piling on me, things seem to be just a hazy blur – kids, this is the fun you have to look forward), I came to around midnight after a full day of pushing my digestive organs to new heights. J. Crew was one of the few stores I went to amid the frenetic shopping hoopla that enveloped this semi-rural area known as North Georgia Premium Outlets. While waiting to checkout with a nice black knee-length wool coat in hand, a girl of high school age tripped backwards and flew right in my direction. You can imagine the fright that overcame me. I did what any survival-of-the-fittest creature would do: I jumped out of harm’s way. Well, she ended up crashing through two racks of clothes, at which point she landed with a thud on the floor. She passed out. Two sales associates raced over to assess the damage and helped her up. They asked her if she was with anyone else and I heard her say in her daze that she was with her parents. They wanted to call the parents but she refused to get out of line and requested to have a chair to continue her journey in the line snaking around the store to the register, apparently all in the name of deals that were literally too good to pass up. I cannot make this sh*t up. Needless to say, I have become utterly disgusted with the mania that overcome people on Black Friday and have given up on participating in this somewhat perverse tradition. And I still love J. Crew. And thank goodness for online shopping.
