I wanted to like this place! I truly did. They failed in just about every way possible. We went a couple of hours before a show knowing this was going to be a busy time. We allowed ourselves plenty of time for a slow leisurely dinner. Our soup and salad were brought out so quickly I thought that we were going to be rushed through our meal. Not to worry! That was the only thing that was served quickly. I had the Wintergarden salad which was mediocre. The dressing was great but that was about it for wow factor. My other half had the tomato bisque… eh. We patiently waited for our main course and when it was served we were both disappointed. My filet was literally rare inside. It was served in a pool of blood. Unfortunately, the waitress didn’t come back to check on us for 10 minutes so I sat there eating mashed potatoes(those were pretty good!) and green beans. My husband’s chicken Chardonnay was visibly dry and tiny for the price. It was completely tasteless. The potatoes it was served with were undercooked and just as lackluster. Our server finally returned my steak to the kitchen where it took literally 20 minutes to get back. In the meantime we did talk to a manager who said not to worry the filet was in the oven. In the oven??? Who puts filet in the oven? Oh yes, this place does. It was returned to me very well done with the consistency of pot roast. It was so dry and tough it was virtually inedible. I am 9 months pregnant and didn’t eat it. That should tell you something. They gave us a free dessert(how sweet… until we tried it) which was chocolate cheesecake. It had obviously been sitting out because it was complete mush. I should also mention that the neighboring table never received their salads and they too had to return an almost mooing cow to the kitchen. Like a diligent Unilocaler I filled out the feedback card rating their cleanliness excellent. Ooooops! That was pre-bathroom visit. It was like an episode of Seinfeld«can you spare a square?» Toilet paper is a hot commodity… unless of course you want to use the pieces that littered the floor. Fortunately an industrious guest saved the day and went through the cabinets and located rolls for all of us. Upon leaving my husband handed the comment card to the manager who said they were just really slammed in the last portion of dinner service. Um ok. Well we were there for the beginning part of the dinner hour and it wasn’t much better. We won’t be back. Food was terrible, service was mediocre at very best and the cleanliness was well just not cleanly. Go some place else!!!

Sorry to say the quality of food has dropped signiicantly. The latest chef’s menu is less than creative, unseasoned, and boring. The wait staff and kitchen staff are still top-notch, just hope they can weather the storm. We only continue to patronize the business out of convenience and our loyalty to the remaining staff. Not sure how much longer we will hang in there.

I really enjoy this restaurant. Today, Mary was our server. The menu was recently changed, and she was great at providing descriptions and recommendations. We really enjoyed their Brussel Sprout Frites. They were grilled and halved and served in a Dijon sauce. Very light, warm, and lick the plate good. The potato soup was nice & creamy-a great choice as the weather chills. The new peanut butter chocolate salted caramel cheesecake was a little rich for my taste, but a nice new selection for those who have a sweet tooth and love chocolate. Mary kept my coffee cup full and warmed the whole time I was there. I really enjoyed our visit and we will be back. A great place to dine before seeing a show at the theatre, as it’s conveniently located inside the Schuster Center.

We had reservations to dine at Citilites before attending a performance and we arrived on time giving ourselves 1.5 hours before the show started. First, we had to wait for quite a while before the hostess came up. She was rude. She seated us a a table in the hallway next to the kitchen. The table didn’t appear that it even belonged there. We waited more than five minutes and a waiter never appeared. Eventually, we tracked down the hostess and asked to be moved since it was clear our table did not have a waiter. She moved us to another location. Where we ended up with a condescending and less than friendly waitress. We ordered an appetizer — the wrong one came out. We ordered our dinner so that we had an hour before we needed to be in the show. The show started at 8:00 pm, our dinner came out at 7:50 pm. My salmon and the risotto were cold, although the waitress tried to tell me that it was supposed to be cold. Clearly she thinks I am an idiot. We had to eat rapidly in order to make the show. Our condescending waitress told me in a tone that insinuated I had never been to the theater before, that they never start on time and won’t close the doors right away. As someone who frequently attends, I know they close the doors at 8:05 and indeed they did. Luckily, we made it. But only because we inhaled our food and left at 7:59 to walk over. Citilites did cover our meal because of the experience, but I can assure you this was not enough for me to ever consider going back.

Great food, atmosphere and staff! Our reservations were at 6, they were seating slow. However, I mentioned that my 11yo liked to watch the kitchen and the hostess put us at the table right in front of it! Great customer service! This was a special dinner for my daughter, right before seeing Wicked! for the 2nd time. She ordered food to give a try and the chef overheard her talking about some of the items. He introduced himself(Tim) and talked with her about the food. Thank you! This added so much to our evening and her confidence! I had the Wicked Witch signature drink, it was good. The Cabernet themed for Wicked was better though and a label I might seek out in the future. We had the beef egg rolls as an appetizer. They were fantastic. Even she enjoyed them. The tomato bisque was ok. The filet and my salad were a great way to wrap up before the show. In my mind, we’ll always go here because of the service. It is definitely her favorite downtown.

If I could give less than one star I would. Fifteen minutes seated until we were acknowledged by OUR waitress, the two other waitresses in the section were well aware and made eye contact several times; but, offered no help. I finally had to get a manager so we could order a drink, she was worse than our waitress… finally, the food would have been almost ADEQUATE if it had been warm. When a filet cannot melt the butter on top of it… IT’S TOOCOLD! $ 116.00 later… before my tip, I will never eat at this place again. #citilites=epicfail

Popped in on my lunch hour to grab a bite. The whole set-up is a little crazy. The staff were disinterested, probably because I wanted to place a take-out order. Too bad, you’re there to serve ALL of your customers. As for the food, I ordered a Fried green tomato BLT and chips. After quite a long wait for a SANDWICH, I got my order. The sandwich was huge and oh my gosh, it LOOKED delicious. However, the only thing I could taste was olive oil. I believe the chips were homemade and they weren’t bad, I suppose. Very disappointing overall, including the price(for as bad as the sandwich was). I’ll leave this place out of my lunch hour rotation in the future.

The service was atrocious. It took 30 min to bring a glass of wine. We never got bread despite asking 5 times. It took over an hour to get the entrée salads and then one of them had no dressing. When they did arrive, the waitress tried to give them to the next table despite the fact that she had served them their entrees already. We thought 90 min was enough time before seeing a show at the Schuster, but thanks to the lousy service we cut it close. Never again!

This was by far the worst experience I have ever encountered at Citilites, we had a reservation for noon, the show at 2:00. We all ordered the same thing, half a salad and sandwich, it was lunch time. The food arrived with a hair in one of the salads. We asked the waitress for dessert and a balieys and coffee. She brought out one drink, set it down and turned to walk away. When I asked her where the other drinks were, she said we only had enough to make one. Really, just set one down and walk away??? We spoke to a manager who tried to make things right, she brought out 2 more, but they were not the right drinks, the waitress had brought out the first one incorrect. The manager took them back(but not without sloshing them over our coats and scarves. She did apologize for the wait staff. I won’t even tell you what a cluster I was to get our bills, in the end we walked out at 1:50. Will probably never go back.

Spectacular! Sea Bass for me, Chicken Marsala for hubby. Great kale salad, too. Fresh sides perfectly prepared. Service very quick, waitress attentive and friendly. Always knew when a drink refill was needed! At the front of the house, Citilites has a jewel named Rose. Efficient, friendly and shows great care for all patrons. Don’t lose her! Superb start to our evening’s entertainment starring Sarah McLachlan providing an over the top fine performance.

Don’t try to get a drink from the bar. While we were told we could get drinks without having a table, they completely ignored us. When we got their attention, they told us that priority went to seated guests. All the seats were taken so that wasn’t an option without additional waiting. After standing another 15 minutes, we gave up. there and walked upstairs to get a drink from the vendors outside the theater entrance.

A great place to eat downtown. Not that anyone ever goes downtown anymore. The food is great. The atmosphere is nice. And the service is pretty good, too.

I came here with my mom about an hour and a half before a matinée showing of Les Mis. Due the popularity of the show, we thought we might be pushing it with an hour and a half, but being that it’s onsite at the Schuster Center, we decided to go with it. For our drinks, lunches and checks, I believe it took 28 mins total. Whoa. Now we have a lot of time to kill. Why so unevenly spaced, dear restaurant? Soups not beforehand, but with our lunches, dessert was offered — though the server had the dessert menu in one hand, and the check in the other which always confuses me(what do I do — dessert or pay, ahhhhh!!!). The food was ok — maybe a little on the bland side, baked potato soup and a cajun chicken salad for me, a BLT avocado sandwich and soup for mom. There were no refills offered, and getting refills fell to us, which irritates me. Why would anyone leave their table sitting there with empty glasses? I don’t know, maybe they’re used to being busier than they were(it was never more than half full while we were there), and I have to assume they err on the side of caution when there’s a show, Heaven forbid they be the reason someone loses $ 100’s in tickets if they run slow. Alas, it was fine for what it was. Everyone was nice, and next time we make reservation an hour before the show.

A very nice spot for a preshow meal located in the beautiful atrium of the theatre. The convenience is obvious. The meals are reasonably priced and the service is excellent. Everyone in my group had salads and added chicken breasts. This spot is open for lunches and before evening shows.

We had family visiting from out of town this weekend and after a visit to the 2nd Street Market, headed to Citilites for lunch. All of us enjoyed our choices; the Rachel sandwich with fruit on the side, grilled cheese and cream of asparagus soup and veggie sliders. Service was outstanding; glasses always refilled before requested. We had a nice visit; low music so you can actually have a conversation. We enjoy Citilites!
