No, not an arcade with games. But an arcade with shops and restaurants. This arcade is not in use but is considered a ‘dead mall.’ A mall that is no longer used and has most often fallen into disrepair. It was a beautiful place that JMack and I noticed whilst we were exploring the city during Urban Nights. The inside wasn’t open to the public, but they had tables out from with information about the renovation efforts. What I learned about this endangered building: *It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 *It is made of 5 interconnecting buildings joined by a glass rotunda *The architecture was based on a Amsterdam Guild Hall and cost $ 2 million to build in 1902. *It was originally a farmer’s market *Efforts are underway to renovate and revive the Arcade to some of its former glory It was a gorgeous building and I do hope that they are able to save it from the state it is in now and bring it back to being an integral part of the city!
