It seems this is the best rated place in the area for lunch, so we gave it a shot. The restaurant is very clean(open kitchen), the staff is friendly, and they serve quality food. Between us, we tried the pulled pork sandwich and the pulled chicken sandwich(they don’t offer dinners; everything is on a bun), roasted potatoes, mac and cheese, Cole slaw, and cornbread. Everything was fine, but very safe, ordinary. The only thing that stood out as really good was the cornbread. If we lived in the area, we’d probably go back, but it’s not really a place I’d go out of my way for. What would make it worth the drive? If the meat wasn’t so dry. It could really use some of the fatty meat drippings to moisten it up and add a little more smokiness.

Great little hidden BBQ gem in Dayton. Went based on other positive reviews and happy I did! We tried the chopped brisket sandwich, pulled chicken sandwich, roasted potatoes, potato salad, baked beans, and mac & cheese. The brisket, potato salad, baked beans, and roasted potatoes were all really delicious. The sandwich buns are really tasty. Thought the pulled chicken was a little dry. Mac & cheese was pretty standard fair; not bad, but I’ll opt for other sides in the future instead of this regular favorite of mine(because there are plenty of other great options). Service was friendly and fast. Did carry out. We’ll be back!

my favorite place to eat locally. the owner, Bub, really takes care of his customers. if you’re not sure what to get, he’ll give you a sample of any of the meat and it’s all delicious and smoked daily. my favorite is the pulled pork with sweet bbq sauce. the potatos are the absolute best I have had anywhere. everything is perfectly seasoned and the cornbread is great. one day he gave me a bacon cupcake– absolutely delicious. this place makes no mistakes, only memories.

After touring and being on the road for years, this is the only place in Ohio that taste like real bbq, I’d put it against places I’ve had in Texas and Alabama. Only real issue is price to portion size you’re getting, but honestly I go there and I am happy to spend the money just to support this place staying open.

A small local family owned business with great service and food. You wouldnt know about this place unless someone recommends it. Generally it is a good sign when you see no bs no extravagance menu! Cheerful people behind the counter. Amazing bbq sauce(sweet, mild and hot) They have only a couple of tables so not great for big groups. Have tried several of the sandwiches for takeout. Would definitely recommend it.

Went to Fatback’s at the recommendation of a friend. Glad I did. Larry, the owner, was very engaging and even threw some excellent pulled pork on the table to sample as we were chatting while my order was being prepared. I took home a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and mac & cheese. Larry didn’t skimp on the portions as the sandwich was piled high with really good pulled pork. Even though sauce was provided, the sandwich didn’t need much as the pork was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and had a nice smoky flavor. The beans and m&c were also very good. Larry made a friend today. I’ll be going back!

This place turned out to be hidden treasure! I decided to check them out after seeing them ranked at the top on a recent Dayton food ranking. We had the pulled pork and brisket both smoked to perfection. So tender! The sauce choice complimented the meat. Had the roasted potatoes and bake beans which were outstanding. Place is one the cleanest restaurants I’ve been in and very friendly. Highly recommend!

We had ribs and pulled pork with house sauce, Both were delicious ! Although the sauce had zero heat! Green beans, Mac n cheese were both excellent! Roasted potatoes were the bomb! Really hit the spot

Ordered the baby back ribs. Instead got some some odd, small half-size ribs that had more fat than meat. The dry rub was good, the hot bbq had heat but not much depth, and the sweet bbq sauce was truly excessively sweet without any complexity. Again, these ribs were half the length of regular baby backs, and had virtually no meat on them. I’ve traveled from North Carolina to Memphis and Kansas City and I’ve never had ribs like this, and will skip them next time.

The staff is great, the restaurant is very clean and the food is great! I highly recommend the pulled pork with any of the sauces! The potatoes and baked beans are the best. However everything is divine! Stop in, carry out, ya just can’t beat them!!! Hoping they start serving biscuits and gravy!!! Love this place

After hearing great reviews on this place me and my boyfriend decided to stop for a quick lunch and left feeling very disapointed. the«smoked» bbq pork was more like baked pulled pork with a smoke rub on the outside. It was byfar the worst lunch we have had in a while, not worth the $ 20 for 2 sandwiches and waters that we got. I didnt realize that places that claim to be home made used coleslaw that comes out of a tub.

Great BBQ at a decent price. Tried their family meal and got plenty of food for a family of 4. The brisket and pulled pork were very tender and juicy. Both sauces were a good blend of heat and sweet. Also tried the BBQ yukon gold potatoes and they were fantastic. Cant wait till summer to go during their outdoor cookouts.

Tried the brisket again… and again it is bland, but ever so tender! I just wish they would spice it up! But, the brisket went fantastically with my homemade extra virgin olive oil/spice mix… Yum! I can see the brisket being an excellent base for many dishes(such as tacos or steak/brisket salad). On occasion, they have the big outdoor BBQ going… soon they may have a BBQ block party on their lot. The people there are friendly and are building up quite a following. The other BBQ joints around town have nothing on them… just please add more spice! :)

Stopped at Fatback’s on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t prime lunch or dinner time. I was a little bit skeptical when I didn’t see a smoker or smell one, but gave it a try. I am glad I did. I had the brisket and green beans. My wife had the pulled pork and green beans. Both were delicious. The brisket was tender, but not crumbling. The pork actually had some small bits of bark. Both were very good. A man from the back(owner?) then brought out a small portion of the pulled chicken for us to try. It was also excellent. On the way out, we picked up a pulled pork sandwich for our son and he loved it. I am hoping this wasn’t just a lucky visit and it will be consistently good. A friend went by on another day and thought it was good too.
