Very quick service. Pay up front but nice seating. Clean fresh tasting meals. Mala beef is tasty and pot stickers are good too, but not amazing.

Do yourself a favor and dine here! Yet to have anything less than an excellent meal from Ginger and Spice. I waited until I had eaten there(or takeout) more than three(3) times before writing this. There’s something tasty for everyone on the menu, even for the most finicky eaters. Enjoy!

The skill of the cooking is far above what the size of the space or the campus area location would lead you to expect. The menu includes Chinese«home cooking» selections you don’t see everywhere.

It was okay. The eating area looks very nice, they keep it clean, however it is very very cramped in there. Their selection is pretty small. Their pan fried noodles were a little too hard for my taste and a little too drenched in whatever sauce they use. I probably won’t go out of my way to go there again, but I wouldn’t be miserable if my friends or family wanted to say there.

Absolutely love ginger and spice. Great food, clean dining area and kitchen, friendly service every time I have been in. You must try the boba tea and pad Thai!

My family and I are local to the Dayton area and eat on Brown St often. Ginger and Spice was one place we hadn’t tried yet. As we have younger children we do not always go to places straight away until we know they are kid friendly. This place is very small and cozy, be prepared to be close with your neighbors when they are busy. Despite the closeness, which didn’t really bother us, everything was great. This is a order at the counter and clear your own table kind of place. They do bring you your food to the table, which is nice at least. We ordered the wonton soup, cashew chicken with fried rice and the shrimp lo mein. Everything was fantastic. The portions were hearty and you can really tell that everything is made fresh and from actual fresh food. No frozen carrots and peas here. My family and I will certainly be visiting again!

Had the Shrimp Hunan Style for a late lunch. Seven large pieces of shrimp in a tasty sauce with perfectly cooked vegetables; red bell peppers, snow peas, onions, carrots, water chestnuts, and broccoli make for a great meal. Very tasty and worth the extra price, compared to a low budget restaurant.

I was visiting Dayton for work and we were going to go to Panera, but came across this along the way and decided to eat here instead. Glad we did! The décor is adorable and they had a big picnic-style table we ate at. I feel I need to preface this review by saying that for me to eat Asian cuisine, it HAS to be a good place… as cliché as this sounds, some fast food Asian places scare me because of the(possibly untrue) horror stories surround them. This is not like that at all. Everything was very fresh and very quick. Prices were great. I had the beef and broccoli with fried rice… I usually don’t eat fried rice but this looked so good, I had to try it. It wasn’t overly fried/greasy. I tried my coworker’s chicken pad Thai and thought it was really good. Also tried one of the chicken lettuce wraps… loved those. Another coworker ordered a soup, which was HUGE, and she said it was great as well. The portions are large and I def could’ve split my meal with someone. I liked that they had infused water and large cups out to help yourself to… its little touches like that that make me love local places!

It was the day after Thanksgiving. I couldn’t stand the thought of more turkey and dressing. We’ve had several carry outs from here but this was my first visit to the restaurant. I knew the owner from many visits to her first restaurant in Beavercreek, Tsao’s Cuisine. She greeted us enthusiastically since I hadn’t seen her in some time. I was really impressed with the interior design. Very clean and modern. Our dinner was outstanding. We shared a special daily item. Flounder with a delicious sauce. We also had a very tasty side of crispy sautéed cabbage. Everything was great.

Quality: A Taste: A Service: A Price: A– Ambience: A You know Ginger & Spice is legit when you see it packed with excited Chinese/Asian kids, willing to fork over their daddy’s monthly allowance to get a taste. This is not your average Chinese fast food i.e. Panda Express. This food tastes noticeably fresher, juicier, and overall a helluva lot better. We ordered the Mongolian beef, garlic pork, and something else so good I forgot what it was called. But just take a look at the pictures. Looks delicious right? Yep. Blew our minds. I only wish the costs were slightly cheaper. But given the quality they provide, I can understand why. They offer milk tea boba. It tasted just like the ones I had back in LA– sweet, refreshing, and on point. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant is small, but they make excellent use of the space. Interior design is clean and attractive. There is only one table for a large group of 8, but you can put together some of the side tables and make that work as well. Overall: highly recommend! I will be back!

Good food, poor service. Told me I could not eat in the restaurant at 8:45 since they close at 9:00. Told them I was traveling and was 40 minutes from my hotel and would eat fast. Still wouldn’t let me eat there. Not friendly at all, find somewhere else if you want good customer service. Welcome to the restaurant business, where closing at a certain time doesn’t mean all 10 people working there go home at right at that time.

Been here twice and food/service have been amazing each time. Food some of the best ethnic food around hands down. Not only good food for college students– great food all around.

The food here is fantastic… a group of us like to go there. It’s a family-run business and they are very sweet and charming… love the Jasmine Tea =)

I’m having trouble reviewing this because it wasn’t BAD… just painfully mediocre on a street with lots of other options. The décor was pleasant enough, in that white-and-pale-wood-with-aluminum style that seems to be popular with fast-casual restaurants. Again, very generic. Seating is limited, and the first time my GF and I tried to go there, we found it packed… but apparently that’s only an issue during peak hours. My GF, who is vegan(mostly, its complicated), was quite miffed that even though they consider themselves vegetarian-friendly, the only really vegetarian dish they seemed to have was«rice, with some vegetables in it». Even some of the tofu dishes had animal products or dairy in the sauce. …which isn’t a problem for me, of course, because I’ll eat the entire cast of Animal Farm just for looking at me funny. Including the raven. I had the Kung Pao chicken the first time I went and Ginger & Spice Pork the second. To follow the theme, neither was unpleasant, just lacking in character. Kung Pao is usually spicy, and if you’re not giving it some heat, you need to replace that flavor with SOMETHING. To end on a positive note, the potstickers– which, by the way, WERE actually vegetarian– were quite tasty. I noticed that they allow ordering online.

I’d heard good things about this place and was excited to try it but it was a disappointment We drove from middletown to get there. First of all I’m not a fan of dinning where you order at a counter … the pressure of having to choose on the spot especially at a new place. The seating was jammed together … was wayyy to close so you could speak privately. We got spring rolls, hot and sour soup and entrees. I got general tso chicken and my mom got cashew chicken. The soup was huge portion. enough for a meal but we both thought it was very bland and the least flavorful we’d ever had. So in the future would skip the soup or try a different one. An order of spring rolls was 2. they were also tasteless …would skip those too. My general tso chicken was pretty good… huge portion.. My hubby liked the left overs. Mom’s cashew chicken wasn’t good… she said she had to search for any chicken and the big slices of carrots were undercooked. She called the carrots raw. The lunch was pricy. I think 35 which is high for Chinese but the portions were big enough to share. Might give it another try… try some ting different …skip the soup and spring roll

I absolutely love this place. It is aesthetically pleasing, and the food is delicious. The owners are very friendly, and go out of their way to make sure that you have a pleasant experience! I have had the shrimp fried rice and the spicy ginger chicken. The portions are HUGE! I loved both dishes, and I look forward to going back for more.

I really wanted to like this place. Cute name. The restaurant is clean and white with touches of wood. You look at the menu and order and pay at the register. There’s a big, cool water jug full of lemons for free water. I wanted to like it so much I went back a second time before Unilocaling. The first time we shares vegetable spring rolls which were tasty. Then I had tofu Formosa. It wasn’t bad but the heat wasn’t right. It was all heat and no flavour. My boyfriend wasn’t a fan of his meal, either(forgive me, I have no idea what he does and doesn’t eat). A couple weeks later we went back. The restaurant has a special«vegetarian» section of their menu but, vegetarians and vegans, don’t be fooled. It’s all lies. I didn’t ask about everything because some things sounded obviously dairy to me, but mom’s tofu? The brown sauce is clam sauce. There are some people who might feel ok with clam sauce but I don’t. I’m posting the vegetarian menu to show options. I’m also not a fan of mushrooms which narrows things down. I ended up eating the seasonal Chinese green vegetables. Not what I would have ever picked normally but it was too late to back out. The vegetables were ok. And rice. Not really worth the price. My boyfriend said his was too salty. He’d go back to the place if he had friends who wanted to go but not suggest it on his own. It’s off of my list.

Tried this place around 5pm on a Saturday. It wasn’t crowded, but it was busy. My daughter ordered the Ginger and Spice Chicken which was delicious. The sauce was very flavorful and portion was perfect. I ordered the Pan Fried Noodle Cake with chicken. I didn’t like the sauce as much as the other but it was still good and I liked the texture combination of crunchy and softer noodles. We also tried the vegetable spring rolls which were rather bland in my opinion. Overall very satisfied and happy to add this to our ever growing choice of favored restaurants on Brown Street.

Ginger and Spice opened up on Brown Street during my senior year of college, and I have gone a few times since just trying different things on the menu. On the whole, it’s a welcome addition for the area. The food is delicious, and everything I have had so far has been served as an exceedingly large portion. I often will grab dinner here and save half for lunch the next day. The selection of beer is also nice for a restaurant on Brown Street, and also includes a few beers from overseas. Besides the food, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service staff are some of the nicest I have met in any restaurant on the strip. The space is somewhat cramped during busy hours, but it does it’s best with the space available. The offerings are unique enough that you won’t get bored easily, and the Pad Thai is enough to keep me coming back. G&S is a hit with the foreign exchange population on campus as well, more so than the other Asian restaurants in the nearby area.

My friend and I just had dinner here and it was absolutely delicious and very filling. The atmosphere is very warm and soothing, the staff is all very friendly and kind. We decided to try the Clay Pot Beef Brisket and it was not a disappointment. Very filling, the broth wasn’t overpowering, meat was cooked to tender perfection. The only thing I’d say that wasn’t to our liking was the brisket pieces. They were a little tough to deal with(isn’t most fat?) and made up a majority of the dish. All in all, I’d strongly recommend this to anyone in the Dayton area who wants a delicious Asian experience for lunch, dinner or just a snack. They also do carry-out.
