The service was subpar with the server spilling dressing all over my mother. The flounder was undercooked with the crab cake stuff watery and without taste. The restaurant was completely empty with very little atmosphere. I heard good things about this place, very very disappointed.

I really really really really REALLY wanted to like this place. We saw a sign that said home cooked meals, and I instantly had visions of the«home cooked» dishes from the south. WOW, was I terribly mislead. I feel like Hazel’s is suffering from an identity crisis. They don’t really know what they want to be. I’m not from the area so didn’t realize this had been a former Max and Erma’s location, but I tell you what, that bar inside is beautiful. If they truly wanted to be a tavern they could with a setup like that, but I feel as if someone said to someone else one day, «Hey let’s start a restaurant!» And the other guy said, «Or a tavern!» and they crammed them together in a very lackluster way. When we walked in, it was a bit dark. I was wondering if this was to set a mood or to save on the electric bill. The other half of the restaurant was empty and most of the lights were turned off. After my confusion and eyes adjusting to the darkness, I ordered breakfast, and it was ok. I couldn’t tell you what I ordered because it was pretty unimaginative. I was pretty surprised though when we got the garlic bread and oil. That was confusing, but the most delicious thing we ate there. Are they an Italian place? Seafood place? Dive? Tavern? I’m really not sure… I left full but definitely a little disappointed because of my initial idea of the place. Sadly, I don’t think they will make it long. They need to come up with a plan and stick to it, and maybe, just maybe they will surprise us all. I don’t know that I’d return.

Went there for a Sunday lunch, seems like they want to be a diner that sells liquor. Food and service were below par.

Horrible service and very average food across the board. They did have some delicious table bread the flavored dipping oil, but that’s hardly enough to woo me. It’s a shame really, because the building, a former Max & Erma’s from waaaaay back in the day, is an interesting spot with a gorgeous wood bar. So much more could be done here, but I’m afraid they are doomed due to poor location and a lackluster product.

Went today with wife and teenaged son. I got a chicken sandwich and fries, pretty good. The wife and son both ordered breakfast. The portions were large and food was tasty. Very reasonable prices and service was pretty good. The owner walked the restaurant refilling coffee and soft drinks. What really impressed me was when our waitress«Nikki» took our drink order my son asked if they had Mountain Dew. She replied no but said she had an unopened 1 litre bottle she brought to work for herself and offered it to my son! Wow!!! You just don’t recieve this type of customer service anymore.

The service was decent but nothing amazing. Nothing horrible, just very…“meh”. I got the feeling from watching the servers with other tables that«regulars» probably get the better end of that side. The food wasn’t spectacular but was solid. I got a hamburger so nothing crazy but it was decent. The atmosphere was nice, more towards sports bar or casual date than family but still nice for an early weekend lunch. The woman’s bathroom is odd, with a crazy loud fan, and was on the low end of cleanliness. Overall pricing seemed fine, and inline with local options. I can’t say we’re ecstatic to try this place again but I probably would give it one more shot before writing it off.

Great to see someone make use of this cool building. They dI’d a good job with it. Its a little bright in the dining area but we sat at the bar. Very cool bar. They have a huge menu… maybe too big but what we ordered was good. They only have 7 beers on tap. Surprising for a tavern. Glad we tried it. We will be back.

Why are there 20+ ‘filtered’ reviews for this restaurant? I went there last week in part based upon all the stars/positive reviews. Upon my return now I’m wondering why in the world it was rated so well?! In actuality Hazel’s has rather poor ratings However, the majority of negative comments have been ‘Filtered’. Sounds fishy to me… Anyways went there last week for a coworkers birthday for lunch time. Small group of 6. Food came out not super fast not super slow, not everyone was lucky to get hot temperatured food. Personally I was not impressed with my burger. It was just OK. Service was spotty. Not a single coworker of mine will be returning. I can guarantee that!

Bread and oil good. Spinach dip different and just OK. Slow service. Good variety on menu. Décor was only slightly changed from when Max and Erma’s was in the building. It appears that the menu is too large — the kitchen must be going nuts.

Went there for lunch on a work day. Will not be back. Took nearly 50 minutes to get our food. Only had an hour for lunch and it took them so long on food and cashing us out that it turned into an hour and a half. Got what was supposed to be a Buffalo Chicken sandwich. What I got was two small chicken tenders on a huge bun. One of my co-workers ordered the«Hazel» burger, which they touted as a challenge to eat due to it being so massive. What he got was a regular hamburger on a huge loaf of bread. When the checks came, two of the checks were flat-out wrong. In addition to that, we were supposed to get a small workplace discount but even after taking 20 minutes to process our check, the discount was not on there. We were so aggravated by then, we didn’t bother making her take more time to correct the checks. The server did not even seem concerned that it took so long. When we were waiting for our checks, another family came in and sat by us. After sitting for 10 minutes, without being greeted by anyone, they got up and left. Bad service, bad food. Will not recommend to anyone.

At this point they have only been open two weeks, so give the staff a little slack while they learn changing menu and procedures. That said, my wife and I had a great meal there this evening. I had a perfectly cooked burger with some very good onion rings. She had a tasty salad with steak on top. Our waiter was very accommodating to our requests for changes to our food, friendly, and checked in on us regularly. I have no hesitation saying that we will be back and I look forward to seeing how they are once the few remaining hiccups are ironed out.

Went for lunch. Not nearly as bad as the other reviews described. food was not bad. Service. Ok. I would go again if the lunch crew decided to, but I wouldn’t bring up the idea of going.

I was excited to take my husband to a new ‘tavern’ in the area. So I surprised him with dinner here. When we walked in, it was pretty quiet. Mostly older couples and some families. We were seated right away and greeted by our waitress quickly. The menu is huge and seems to be a mess of all types of foods; salads, burgers, sandwiches, home style food, etc. My husband looked at the beer menu and decided it wasn’t much of a selection for a ‘tavern’. Then we were told they don’t have their liquor license yet. Yikes. Our waitress was young and very sweet. As she took our order, an older woman with an accent interrupted her to ask her how a certain table wanted a steak cooked. After she was given the answer, she scolded the waitress for not putting it in the system. And right in front of us! I assume she was the manager or owner based on the way she was getting after everyone. After our waitress left from taking our order, that same woman continued to scold her in the hallway where everyone could see. Food was mediocre at best. Nothing to waste your calories on. One table left because it was taking too long. That same manager said goodnight to them as they left. Then the waitress came to serve their food and realized they were gone. So they all had a discussion about where they went. She’s an awful manager for not knowing they left. And for a new business, why wouldn’t she check on tables and thank people for coming? And she stood at the hostess stand as we left and didn’t say anything. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. If she’s not the owner, she needs to be fired. I hate giving it such a bad review because the hostess and waitress seem very nice. Just an unfortunate choice of employer. This place probably won’t last. I know we won’t be going back. We will try the next place that moves in.
