The products are some what similar to stores like Aldi’s, but it seems to have an overall lower quality environment. The veggie section is hit and miss. Today, you could buy a 3lb bag of sweet potatoes for $ 1.99 or large loose sweet potatoes for 33 cents per lb($ 1 per 3 lbs) in the same bin. What?! lol The meat section was not bad. I have seen some good bargains there — up to 50% off. The product offerings are quite limited and seem to have more of a generic feel. Aldi’s on the other hand offers occasional/seasonal surprises like gourmet items(eg, crackers, jams, etc) in addition to their brand items. I think net costs are probably the same when you check-out, so I am not sure sav-a-lot offers more of a bargain. Overall, the customer service is awful. They do not greet customers nor are they near as friendly as Aldi’s customer service. As a matter of fact, I have seen this low-quality customer service from the STOREMANAGERS, the cashier’s, the meat staff, & others who might be stocking other areas. I’ve seen them look right at customers and simply ignore them and walk away. Wow. Today, I saw that from this short, little guy who was the store manager. Who put this guy in charge if he does not have the requisite(IMO) skill set to interact with all types of people?! Hence, the 1-star rating. Customer service is key, esp for the generic stores like sav-a-lot. I guess they missed the memo. IMO, I prefer Aldi’s and this store gives me no reason to switch. And, I could easily see Sav-a-lot store managers probably saying«So what?.. then shop at Aldi’s.» That is just one of the differences; and, that’s the impression they left me with. Ciao!
