Strings Attached

I went into this small, downtown yarn store when they first opened and was impressed with the quality of the yarn offered. Kristen offers some unique yarns, most in natural fibers (silk, linen, alpaca, merino, camel) and from small producers. They regularly have trunk shows for both yarn and accessories, and offer reasonably priced classes.
Customer service is excellent. An example: when I first visited the shop, I mentioned that I would like a class in knitting socks, as I wasn’t sure about turning the heel. Kristen said to just bring it in and she’d get me through this step. Very different from the reaction from another local shop which told me that, on certain days, and for a fee, they would be happy to help. Guess which store I’m shopping at?
My son gave me a gift card to Strings Attached to cover the yarn for an upcoming knit along. He also mentioned how helpful Kristen was in guiding him (who knows nothing about knitting) to the right dollar amount for my gift.
All in all, if you want high quality, unique yarn in a welcoming shop, Strings Attached is the place. I wish I knit faster so I could go more frequently!

I wanted to like this shop, but the crazy price tags, and store clerk that was watching me like I was going to steal everything in the store left me pretty disappointed.
The yarn offered is very nice and extremely good quality, but the prices are very inflated. I’ve never seen yarn that expensive. Maybe she was hawk-​eyeing me because I may have audibly gasped a few times.

This is a very nice yarn shop with excellent service from the owner. The yarns are wonderful! She says she «curates the yarn collection» and she does a nice job of it. There are binders of pattern sheets to purchase with some very cool designs by indie designers, as well as knitting books for sale and various supplies like needles and notions. Although the shop has only been open since fall of 2014, it seems popular, as quite a few customers walked in and were greeted by name in the hour I was there. I bought yarn and 2 patterns and I will return, even though it’s an hour away. Highly recommended for your next scrumptious yarn purchase!
