Delicious Rueben and Turkey, ham, & Swiss melt sandwiches. Very good split pea soup. Great attentive service. Cool converted church. Will be back!

This place was awesome! It is SO cute on the inside. We went with friends who live in Newburg(we are visiting from Seattle). I got the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs, and my hubby got eggs Benedict, a Bloody Mary and he split the cinnamon roll pancakes with his friend. Everything was delicious and everyone who came to take our orders and check on us were very nice. They will definitely return and we will be back on our next visit!

A great place to have breakfast. Food is always very good and it’s just a very cool atmosphere. The Blockhouse Burger is phenomenal as well.

Brought the fam up today to meet out-of-state relatives for breakfast. Wow… very good meal(the scramble is a two-day dish), first-rate service, and great renovated building. I’ll definitely be back to try the legendary burgers.

The place looks great. If you want flavor go elsewhere. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this place. Mozzarella sticks, no marinara, but they had store bought(guess) bottle ranch. Cajun tots, no flavor with bottle ranch again. Chips look like the ones you buy out of the bag but they said they make them. Coleslaw? It was cabbage salad mix with mayonnaise in it, no kidding, no flavor. Go get your own coffee, average taste. Side salad was bag spinach with fresh tomatoes. Fish, again no flavor but fair portion size. Tartar sauce was mayonnaise with some herbs maybe. Tartar sauce was not at all tartar sauce. Veggie burger was the highlight, I guess, bun toasted nicely. Not returning. Place was pretty much empty. I don’t understand all the raving, but whatever.

The Archie is maybe the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Great little mom and pap place to stop and eat. Ice cream shop connected is a nice touch as well. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

The service was slow! We ordered a hamburger that came an hour later and it was raw. We sent it back and had to take the burger to go. They gave us a $ 10 certificate because service was slow and they also know that we won’t be back. The food was good, Inuit be willing to wait over an hour.

Wow! What a great surprise in the small town of Dayton. The breakfast menu is superb! Must try the country fried steak! The scrambles were perfect and the burrito’s are very large and delish! If you are in wine country, you must stop by here!

I guess I need to give this place another try. Given all the rave reviews, I was really excited to try it out! Our first waitress was very friendly and gave me her recommendations when I asked. She recommended the burger. I ordered a medium rare bacon blue burger and got a very rare burger with two very small non peppered pieces of bacon. The Cajun tots were fantastic as was their kickin sauce which I wished I could have handled more heat for. We were never offered drinks other than water, our waitress never came back to check on us. We had a different waitress ask how everything was in passing. I mentioned my «medium rare» burger and she agreed it was more on the rare side and kept on with what she was doing. We sat, done with our meals and gazing for the attention of a waitress that never came, for 10 – 15 minutes for our bill. Apparently you go to the front to pay without a bill. The original waitress knew we were first time customers and that probably should have been mentioned at some point. I did not tip. But! Now I sound like a snobby customer so I’ll stop here. I WILL give this café another shot, it’s just going to be a while. Update: the owner replied to my concerns(from this review) immediately which I think is a great sign, and is greatly appreciated.

4 stars for the food and service, however, the wait was CRAZY long!!! French toast was comes perfect, delicious bacon, and eggs. The scramble was ample with eggs, veggies and cheese!

Stopped by for light dinner while checking out the Friday night in Dayton festivities. The taco salad and burgers were wonderful. We did have an overly enthusiastic bus boy who removed plates, forks, napkins, etc the very moment you set it down. I appreciate the attention, however I was not done with my beer, water or napkin and had to ask for my beer back. This is a training issue, and needs to be corrected or he will make patrons uncomfortable and they will not return. Why did he make a point of requiring a response to an inquiry about taking my empty salad plate but felt empowered to grab my beer glass that still had as few sips left? Training Issue.

Road tripping across the US from NC, best breakfast we’ve had so far. Fresh fruit was wonderful and everything was cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming.

Wow! Worth the drive from Beaverton to Dayton! Love their menu, it’s simple and easy to select what we wanted. My friend had the breakfast sandwich and I had their amazing cinnamon roll pancakes! Plenty to take home, great leftovers. Also loved their kickin sauce. Didn’t realize it costs .50 just to take a small container home to have with fries but it’s incredibly good sauce. We got there around 10:30 and it wasn’t too crowded, luckily there were two tables available. The service was very friendly and we got our food fast!

Great place for a tasty well-priced egg and bacon type full breakfast, or an awesome burger with their hand cut fries for lunch! This is the locals’ hangout because of its warm and friendly staff and owners, the tasty generous portions of food(the burgers are huge!), and the very reasonable prices. They serve Caravan coffee now, also a plus for us coffee fanatics(or, er, snobs). They also have gluten-free bread for the gluten-free folk like my husband. Special dinners on Fridays which is when they’re open late. Their new location, across from the Fort Yamhill Blockhouse in a gorgeous repurposed extensively remodeled church, is awesome. They’ve brought on more staff with the move so service moves pretty quickly now. Looking forward to summer when we can sit outside on the patio with a nice burger… and perhaps a beer or glass of wine? We’ll see!

Great staff, great menu, fresh ingredients and made to order. If you want fast food this is not your place. It’s a small town café and part of the greatness of it is that your food is not pre-made sitting under a lamp. ITSFRESH! I’m tired of watching people react rudely to the staff when their food is not up in 5 minutes. Pull up a seat, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the conversations around you. Anna, Dawn, Amy, Jasmine, and all the other gals at The Blockhouse will gladly take your order as soon as you’re ready. Whatever you order, you won’t be disappointed.

This place moved across the town square in Dayton. It used to be in an attached store front business. They moved to an awesome location: an old brick church on the other side of the historic town square. The remodel is beautiful. It’s a great space with friendly service and good food. Updated interior photos are needed; the new space is warmer than the photos I see here; it now has lots of wood and a great bar back. Note: Most days they close at 3 pm. They are only open for dinner on Fridays.

Really enjoyed the Fish Burger tots and shake. My wife had an excellent club that had the works on it! We thought the food was underpriced for the size and quality but would love to go back again. The manager and total front end help left is wanting for nothing. In short this place is EXCELLENT!!!

LOVE this place. I had an amazing burger here. It was a little more done than I usually like my burgers, but it was amazing anyway. The meat was so juicy and perfectly seasoned! Breakfast is awesome, I didn’t try the cinnamon roll pancake, but I will next time. The gravy is amazing. Nice sausage gravy :) The espresso is really good as well, I like to grab one when I’m traveling through. The prices are quite reasonable, and the service is awesome. really feels like a small town café, but with really big flavor.
