Vex

I used to head to Vex every Friday (Goth Night). While the dance floor wasn’t exactly spacious, it still provided a decent spot to dance on. The bartenders were always friendly and attentive, the music was good, and it was always nice to see some of Dayton’s alternative crowd there.
I know they’ve done a lot of remodeling over the last year, and the goth night is no more, but I plan to check out the club in the next month or two to see how things have changed.

Vex, formerly known as Pearl, started to go downhill years ago. The owner got married and had a kid and pretty much stopped putting effort into the Club. The last time I was there, a few months back, the renovations that were started in 2005 were still not finished. The carpet was filthy and the bar area smelled sour. The bar is always sticky. Bathrooms are always gross, often lacking soap and paper towels, smell like a sewer. Drinks are overpriced and watered down. The last time we were there my boyfriend had something slipped into his drink by one of the bar staff and ended up sick (he’d only had 3 drinks in about 2 hours). The time before that they charged his card for $ 99.00 when the tab was under $ 40. When I tried to contact the manager, my calls were ignored. I reached out to a former friend who worked there and was told «No, I saw the receipt, it said $ 99». No, it said $ 47. His handwriting is bad, but not THAT bad and why would you assume a $ 50 tip for bad service? He told me he’d have the manager call me. He never did.
I heard that Vex is closed, not sure if that’s accurate, but if it is, it’s about time. That place needs to be demolished.

Friday nights, when I am free, are always fun! Great music, great bartending. Great night for dance therapy!

I have coming here for a few years on fridays Goth nights. I like the atmosphere the drinks are great.

Twice now, a few days ago for Halloween, and last year’s New Year’s Eve shbang, they have taken liberties w/​my tab at the bar. And by «liberties» I mean grossly miscalculated the bill or, more than likely, have padded their own (bartender’s?) wallets despite ample documentation to the contrary. Otherwise known as fraud. ⁵⁄₃^rd is now on it FRI.
Keep/​check your receipt upon cashing out…

As a goth transplant from Arizona by way of California and Chicago, I always am looking for clubs closer to my home in Lima. Skybar takes care of that in Bowling Green, but it’s nice to have an option to the south.
If you’re looking for goth-​industrial beauties, Vex isn’t the place. But if you’re content to dance to ‘80s hits on Tuesdays and a goth-​industrial on Fridays, Vex cheap, easy to access and can help you survive until your next trip to Perversion.
Also, the $ 3 Long Islands on Tuesday nights pack a punch.

An eclectic mix of events are here at Dayton’s Club VEX ~ Art Shows, benefits, & plays are inter-​mixed with special dance nights.
The Dj’s playlist’s place their emphasis on DANCING. The crowd can accommodate all and some of Miami Valley’s most exciting couples & singles will be here to socialize in the three rooms. Not for the timid or wallflowers.

Every few weeks I meet some friends out here, fridays happen to be their goth night so its always interesting to people watch. The place has good air conditioning, the drink prices aren’t to steep and they usually pour stiff. Plenty of seating and the dance area isn’t in the way. Best part is Smokin BBQ is right across the street so you have easy access to great food after they close.
I’ve also never watched a fight happen here, and its always nice to know you’re not getting drunk in the presence of jerks.
