I was looking for a cheaper hotel room for my visit to Daytona Beach Florida. I came across Beach Haven in on one of the online travel sites. The website made it seemed pleasant enough so I booked my room. Upon arriving I pulled into the parking lot and immediately could tell this was not going to be good. As I walked towards the front of the hotel to enter the office it looked abandoned. The office was empty filled with old car seats and random piles of garbage. A sign on the door stated for me to go next door to check in. Before checking in I took a walk of the property. The corridor smelled disgusting, the indoor/outdoor carpeting look like a hasn’t been changed since the place opened, the flowerbeds were filled with nothing but dead plant stems, and there were bikes chained to the railings that looked like they had been there for 20 years all rusted up. The hallways are very dark and quite frankly a bit scary. There are no security cameras, and the locks on the doors look like they were installed in the 70s. I immediately did not feel that this was a safe hotel. As I made my way around to the pool area there was bags filled with empty beer cans that had obviously been there for a very long time laying next to garbage cans that had not been emptied, also for a very long time. The pool was old and decrepit. All of the chairs had missing straps or were thrown in a corner due to them being broken. What once seemed to be a nice glass fence around the pool so you could see the ocean was now repaired with rotting plywood. The back of the hotel looks like it should be condemned. Totally disgusted with what I’ve seen I went to the office and explained that I could not stay at this hotel. I explained that the pictures on the website were misleading. The lady in the office refused to give me back my deposit and charge me for one night. At that point I realized arguing was going to get me nowhere so they proceeded to charge me, and I proceeded to leave. I was able to find a slightly more expensive but very nice oceanfront hotel less than three blocks away. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
