Super 8 Motel

So a very old hotel but for the most part clean and comfortable. If you can live without posh, if you can look past dated, and if a little patina is ok with you then stay here. The proximity to restaurants, a beautiful beach view, and within walking distance to the boardwalk then this is a great place to relax and enjoy. Clean towels, hard pressure water in the shower and a balcony view are just what the doctor ordered. Parking is sparse but there is an empty hotel next door for overflow parking. A DYI breakfast is served in the mornings. No sound deadening or barrier walls anywhere so be prepared to endure road noise and loud tenants on the front walkways.

This is now a Motel 6. You can read my full review on it using Motel 6 Daytona Beach on Int’l Speedway Dr. BOTTOM LINE: Entire property is infested with mold and mildew (and I know because I once had to deal with both in my home). Reported it to the health department. Property needs to be torn down and rebuilt (incl. its foundation). If after reading this you still wish to stay here, I’d stop by a pharmacy and pick up a systemic anti-​fungal medication or else you’ll be in the E.R. by morning. (I left right after I «experienced» [read: smelled the stench] in 3 separate rooms. Didn’t even bring my luggage in.)

From the outside, this Super 8 looks nice and pretty big, with a few palm trees around. It’s two levels. However, the obvious downside is that you can just walk up to your room from the outside. I don’t like these type of locations because they make me feel unsafe. Anyways, we check in and get the keys to our room. The room didn’t look as nice as the other locations I’ve been to. I was about to call the lobby so they can set an alarm to wake us up in the morning, and I noticed that the phone is disconnected… the line was literally cut. I was a little freaked out, like who would do such a thing? So I go down to the lobby and request another room, explaining the situation. The 2^nd room we were given had an extremely loud air conditioner and it was stinky in there! UGH! I felt pretty gross staying in here. The staff was nice but could’ve been better. There was no fridge or microwave in our room. I noticed in the motel map that there was a swimming pool. It looked huge, although I didn’t get a chance to check it out. I didn’t get a good night’s sleep. I couldn’t wait til the morning so I could get out of here and go eat breakfast at the Waffle House right next door.
