This is the main library in the area and it is on city island. Great place for books and more. They have a great selection of DVD’s for those that do not have Netflix or Hulu. They also have CD audio books for road trips. I must admit the I use Overdrive app to connect to the library and can «check out» audio books and E-​books without ever going into the library. This is not a big city library so you can even get to know the staff if you come in regularly.

My hubby and I had our first library outing today. We were very pleasantly surprised. It is quite large, wonderfully designed, has great colors, lots of places to sit and read, and a huge DVD section. The staff are very friendly. I might add that the hand dryers in the bathroom dried them even more quickly than the great ones throughout Europe. I’m proud to have one of their library cards now.

The Volusia Country Library Center is more commonly known as the Daytona Beach Library and is the main library of the city.
It is located right on City Island and is surrounded by lovely views of the water. Not a historic or particularly beautiful building but it does have a certain uniqueness to it.
The inside of the library is very functional, useful and great place to get things done. Lots of nice places to sit and everything is organized efficiently.
Like most city libraries it isn’t what you could call welcoming or friendly, this is a place to get things done not to make friends or chat.
The library does have a nice genealogy room with some great old books and some cool art, especially the large bird flying through the stack of books.
A nice library to find a book, do some work, read a magazine or maybe research your family. Of course if you tired of the work you can always just sit and look at the great water views.
