I waited until I really, really knew what I wanted to have tattooed on me. Then I shopped around at some local places as I wanted to keep the money in the neighborhood. Several shops gave me a brush off(no way is she going to get a tattoo attitude from the staff), but not Liquid Chaos. Several employees commented on my design, with suggestions, ideas, etc. Deposit down and I selected Mark Matias to tattoo me. And he has completed my other 2 also. Mark has since moved shops, but my initial impression of the staff, the cleanliness of the shop, friendliness to a 50 year old woman wanting her first tattoo is the reason that Liquid Chaos gets 4 stars. Debating my 4th tattoo — not certain if I will return to a local business or follow Mark downriver.

Iconic Tattoo Shop! I can’t believe this place doesn’t have a ton of awesome reviews! This shop has been around forever. More or Less the«go to» shop. I’ve had my navel and labret pierced here and 2 tattoos. It’s small, fun and just the place to literally hang out at and chat with the artists so you can see eye to eye on what you want done. They now have 3 Locations Dearborn Hgts, Brownstown and Canton. Go check these places out. All Tattoos are minimum $ 50 so don’t think you can just come in for a $ 20 heart on your arm. It’s a business. Oh, and during the Telegraph Cruise they had a $ 30 piercing special, SORAD! My friend got her nose pierced and I got my tattoo.

I went to Liquid Chaos on 5÷30÷13 to have my tattoo done by John. I was referred to John by a friend whose opinion I really trust(obviously, as the design was to be permanently engraved in my flesh), so I was already feeling comfortable with my decision. This was for my 4th tattoo, and was by far the most elaborate one I have, as well as being my first color tattoo. John was extremely professional, and takes a lot of pride in his work. He has great instincts, particularly with color and shading. He also has a very light touch-don’t get me wrong, tattoos don’t exactly feel like angel kisses, but I was very comfortable for the entire process. The lines are perfectly crisp and clear, which was a concern for me as my design was fairly intricate. John made excellent judgment calls to maintain the integrity of my design while giving the clearest results possible. Finally, the entire staff was great-so friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was hanging out at a(very sanitary) friends house. The other artists and piercer were fun to talk to and consult with. I will definitely be back to have more work done by John-next time the artwork will be in his very capable hands. Appointments highly recommended-$ 50 deposit required. Accepts cash and most credit. Make sure to check out all of the artists’ portfolios to find the one with a style that meshes with yours! And at any shop-please don’t forget to tip your artist! The work extremely hard to make you happy!
