Delicious and reasonable! We had the beef and lamb shawarma with rice to go, and if the food is even better in the restaurant, I would be visiting every week! We shared that one plate and still had leftovers. The portions are generous. The rice and salad were also very good. I was pleased that they gave us so much bread, and I saw these being made fresh out of the fire oven in the restaurant. I will definitely be back.

My absolute favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. I have been coming for over 10 years and they never disappoint. I love to bring friends new to Middle Eastern food and watch them fall in love. The food is fabulous especially the lamb stew, falafel, and shawarma.

So delicious. My son had the grilled chicken which was outstanding. I had fallafel which was so crisp and perfect. I was full for the rest of the day. Staff was not overly friendly but helpful and courteous.

3.25 Stars So I was told that Al-Ameer made some of the best Shawarmas in existence and I was really excited about it. I ordered one chicken and one lamb shawarma. Both were very good and I was with a party of 8 who also ordered the shawarma. You know that feeling where after you’ve enjoyed a meal with your friends you all end up looking at one another and are instantly able to read their expressions? That was us and each of us were eager to say it first until I stepped up. These Shawarmas were good — but kind of mediocre. We all agreed and we have all had the pleasure of eating at one of our favorites: Muncheez in Washington, DC which still the resounding king of shawarmas. Still though — what spoiled it for me was when a group of people said how amazing it is. Had they not said anything, the bar would have been lowered. Al-Ameer is an institution in Dearborn and has been around for a very long time and is always packed to the brims so be ready to expect very long lines and very long waits to get seated. Still, despite all this, the food comes out reasonable fast and the service is very friendly. I still recommend it for a number of reasons: While the food isn’t as earth-shattering as I expected it to be, it is still very good, and great for a family situation where you have many diners in the party. The prices are cheap and will not send you to the poor house if you pick up the entire tab. And you’ll look like a stud too.

Eight of us ate here over Thanksgiving weekend and had a wonderful meal. Almost everyone had a different dish and we shared. .. everything was wonderful, really! I know i sound like a relative. Everything seemed to be freshly prepared and plates were nicely presnted. We had quite the feast with appetizers, salads, vegetarian, lamb, beef, and chicken dishes. The lady who served us was wonderful and attentive. We got there about 2:30 on a Saturday, i was a little surprised how busy they were, must be nuts around six. This was not cheap, but a very good value.

We were a party of four for lunch after doing The Rouge factory tour. I had the Ghalaba(?) with chicken and it had great flavor. The portion was huge and it came with two sides. The hummus and pita were delicious. They reminded me that I should buy them at my local Middle Eastern market rather than the grocery store. They also served a garlic yogurt sauce with the pita bread that was delicious. The restaurant was pretty big but the parking lot is small so you might need to park on the street. Food arrived very quickly and our server was pleasant, helpful, and attentive.

Absolutely delicious, authentic Middle Eastern food. Everything here is perfect, from the rice, to the salads, hummus, juices, pita, and meat dishes. All dishes we ordered were seasoned beautifully… Like homemade food I had while living in Jordan. We would be regulars if we lived near Detroit.

We had a big party for lunch, 17 people and there were no problems to get a reservation in just a couple of days ahead of the event. The menu was a little confusing, they initially only gave out the dinner menu but the lunch menu was eventually also shown. I ended up getting their chicken shwarma with the $ 1 upgrade to the tabouli salad instead of a regular salad. It was well worth it, the tabouli salad was REALLY good. Lot’s of great flavor and fresh ingredients. The chicken was juicy and had really good flavor. The rice was also good. The service was great, even more so when we had such a large group. This a place you definitely should try.

I have my boyfriend pick me up something from this place every time I land in DTW. Their almond rice is delicious, especially when it has been soaking up juices from the Shawarma. Their falafel is pretty good as well. Great place to go when you’re craving some Lebanese food.

Overall, a solid place for Lebanese food. Our server was very quick but polite. Ordered the Al-Ameer platter for two with the fiancé. It was a ton of food and we were stuffed by the end and even had to box the rest of the food up to take home. The restaurant was big with lots of tables. They kept the décor to a minimum. The layout reminded me of a diner for some reason. The food was pretty delicious with the exception of the chicken kebabs. I guess its really hard to make chicken breast over a fire taste good. All I was able to taste was the char and the burntness of the chicken. I had to stop eating after the first piece. I enjoyed their warm, puffy breads with the hummus, which tasted pretty authentic. Can’t go wrong with the falafel and and shawarmas. The fattoush was too lemony for my liking, but still edible. Food came fast and service was fast. One other thing that I had to mention was their parking lot was TIGHT and it was very difficult to get between the two rows of cars up near the front of the restaurant. It spaced out a bit in the back, but overall, would be kinda difficult to back out if you weren’t careful. If you are around the neighborhood, it wouldn’t hurt to stop by at least once to taste some middle eastern food since it is what Dearborn is known for. It was still worth it to me.

I didn’t enjoy the food here as much as I’d hoped. The flavors were ok. I felt there was an over powering of lemon on things. I didnt care for the shawarma and I’m a huge fan of shawarma. I think I’m just not that into the season that they use. The service was friendly and everything seemed to come out fast. I did however really enjoy there falafel. It wads probably the best falafel I’ve had.

First time here tonight with my family for my sister’s birthday. I’m a huge fan of Middle Eastern food and this place hit the spot! We ordered the family tray, which is supposed to feed 4 – 6. We had a party of 5, and the tray could easily feed 2 – 3 more people. The food was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the salad, chicken shawarma, lamb kabobs, beef kabobs, and falafel. I will definitely return if I’m in the area again.

We stopped here during our trip for lunch. It was highly recommended from a friend. And it was good, but I just think the expectations I have of falafel places in this area are just VERY high. I think the bread they were bringing out wasn’t fresh, until I insisted on it. Even then, it had this black/burnt taste to it. Some people may like that, I guess. I know some pizza places have burnt crust as part of their thing… but yeah, it was just somehow not up to par compared to my fave. The falafel sandwiches themselves were fine. I’m glad I tried it. One more place I can say I’ve tried! :)

No frills(I mean none) middle eastern restaurant You do not come here for the ambiance, you come here for the food. They do meat and rice very well, I mean the majority of people eating here(including myself) are middle easterners, they must be doing something right. The shish tawook and the shish kabob were highlights along with the rice. Fetoush salad is hands down some of the best! We ordered one of those family platters that was HUGE no seriously unless you have five people plus or some seriously large appetite guests you will not be able to finish it! It comes out on a tray that was the size of the table. Please bring your inner fat kids along. Service really is hit or miss, I mean really truly it’s been really bad where we have had to stop random employees to help us, or we had our server stop by so many times we were going to offer him a seat at our table. Price was definitely affordable. If you want fancy or a festive atmosphere and are more in a people watching mood, find another place. If you want a good meal that can put you into a potential food coma, welcome!

Oh my goodness… I tried so many things here. I only had time for one meal in Dearborn which was a Must-Hit spot on my trip to Detroit. It came down to between three places and a couple tosses of a cold determined Al-Ameer to be the winner. And the winner it was! On the tour of the menu here is what was ordered for my friend and myself(yes, just two people…): 1) The Al-Ameer Specialty juice(consumed with a spoon) 2) Chicken Ghallaba 3) Al-Ameer Platter 4) Shish Kabob 5) Rice Almond Salad Along with fresh pita was delivered as an appetizer is a delicious pickled cabbage which is bright pink. Not sure if that was just for the Valentine’s day weekend or not, but it was tasty. The service was wonderful from the moment we walked in. While our attendant and I miscommunicated something that was really on my fault and not hers. Shortly after we arrived a gigantic group of teenagers and a couple chaperones appeared and were seated next to us, but they behaved well and weren’t overly rambunctious. The Al-Ameer Special juice arrived first. Sparkly red with large chunks of fruit clearly visible. About half the glass was fresh banana and the flavor was sweet but mild and not overpowering. A bit of savory added in by some raisins, pistachios and other nuts made this worth of a meal itself. Everything else arrived in short order. The Ghallaba, then the Kabobs, the Rice Almond Salad and finally the Al-Ameer Platter. The Chicken Ghallaba was freaking delicious. Similar in taste to a Jambalaya, but a bit soupier, the flavors melded very well and had both a spicy and savory component I don’t recall getting in other mediterranean dishes. The Beef Kabobs were prepared almost perfectly. Served with a side of hummus seasoned with paprika. The meat was tender and still juicy. I often like my beef more medium-rare than medium but the flavor on these kabobs was wonderful! The Rice Almond Salad was wonderful. I’d already had enough side-salad to drown in because we ordered so many things… all I wanted from this dish was the rice made with almonds and vermicelli and a touch of cinnamon. SO good! As a side-note, the salad is light and oily but very very fresh and the seasoning was very simple. The flavors glide on the tongue as you eat it. The salad alone would have been a great light and simple meal. The Al-Ameer Platter was huge. We had it boxed before we could eat it, and since the temperatures that day were to get into the –20s(fahrenheit) with windchill the rest of the day, we just took it home to warm up later. The platter has 2 stuffed grape leaves, 2 Fried Kebbeh, 2 Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Tawook, Beef Kabob, 2 Falafel, Hummus and Beef Kafta. Clearly a meal for two on its own. While I have a tendency to explore… I very well might hit Al-Ameer again if I’m anywhere near the Detroit/Dearborn area.

I ate here with a large group while on a road trip to Mackinac Island from Columbus, OH. The décor and vibe and food here is all wonderful. We split one of their enormous combos among 5 people, and we had a difficult time finishing the food even though we all wanted to if only our stomaches would let us. Their bread is top notch. We asked for a bag to take the leftover bread with us, and the waitress said she’ll just get us more fresh bread from the back. What a sweetie :)

Trust Anthony Bourdain, Al-Ameer is really good. Granted Dearborn probably has a gazillion middle eastern restaurants, and I’m not a great judge of middle eastern cuisine, but I loved Al-Ameer. First, service was great. The restaurant was a bit rowdy, but that’s part of the experience. There’s an open kitchen, so you can see the food getting cooked. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Now the food. Definitely get a variety of dishes, instead of just getting one combo plate. We had 4 people, so we got two entrees and the combo for 2 plate. All entrees and combo plates come with salad. The default is lebanese salad, but we opted for tabbouli, which was amazing. It was so fresh and flavorful. The combo plate for 2 was a great deal. For 26 bucks, you get two portions of salad, 3 skewers, two portions of shwarma, two grape leaves, and two fried meat balls or some such. Sooooo much food. Entrees are also a great deal. We got the chicken ghallaba and the fried fish. Both come with rice and salad, and both were delicious! Definitely recommend.
