St Julian’s Cat Care

My cats started off life as orphaned feral kittens; so, they started off life a bit rough before I rescued them. I have tried other vets, but it didn’t work out for the cats due to dogs being treated there as well. And with my cats starting off outside as feral kittens, most of their early exposure to dogs was in the form of wild dogs trying to eat them. So, when a nice, friendly mastiff with a head bigger than my cat carrier looked in to check out one of my cats and accidentally traumatized her, I realized that I had to bring my cats to this place, because it only treats cats, and my cats would be more comfortable.
Dr. Dickie has been my cats’ vet for years now. She is the only vet that I’ll trust with my little darlings. She is reasonable on costs. She is friendly and genuinely likes all of her patients. When I bring in only one of my cats, she remembers to check on how the others are doing. And she is determined to make sure that my cats who started off life with bad experiences have healthy, happy lives.

Saw a lot of good reviews and liked that they specialize in cat’s. So I called to ask if I could set up an appt. for a stray cat to get an IFA test, which is a simple Leukemia test and was put on hold so she could ask the dr if they do those. What??? She comes back and said the dr is not sure, and told me to call back Friday. What? How bizarre. You specialize in cat’s? I think not. No I def won’t be calling back on Friday.

Took my Himmie there because he had been sneezing a lot. I’m new to the area and didn’t know where I could find a nice vet. Dr. Dickie was great and gentle with my 9 year old Oliver. She took his time and explained what she was doing. The office is much more casual and less medical feeling than most vets. They do have a couple in house cats that roam freely so the first thing you notice are the cat toys laying in the middle of the waiting room along with a very mild cat house smell. That did concern me a bit but after a few minutes there you could tell the place was clean and proper for a veterinary care center. The prices are very reasonable as well; a good 20% less than what I was paying in Macomb.

My cats and I are lucky to have a special place like this one. It’s a very quiet mom and pop vet which keeps my 2 kits cool and calm while being out of their zone. I’ve always been taken care of immediately, whether through appointment or emergency. They have always steered me in the right direction, not simply the money-​making direction. Don’t be put off by their small size, they know what they’re doing. Merow!
