Recently moved into the neighborhood right where this store is located in Downtown Dearborn and needed my watch size adjusted and this was the closest jeweler. What a gem this place is– it’s great to walk in somewhere and feel like a person and not a dollar sign. Not only did Mr. Bernard adjust my watch purchased from another jeweler, but he did it for FREE, which I wasn’t expecting. Lots of different pieces in the store, many very unique. From what he told me, the prices are all over the board but if you want something quality in any right, this is your place. Kindness goes a long way.

Not many small, independent jewelry stores left who concentrate on personal service. Started going here when the jeweler we have gone to for years retired. I took my grandmother’s wedding set here to have it resized for my daughter to wear for her upcoming wedding. When I took it there, it looked dingy and rather like a Cracker Jack toy ring. When I picked it up, I was astounded. He cleaned and polished it and it absolutely dazzles. I am very, very pleased with the result. I didn’t feel the price was any more than what you would pay at a chain. You can go in there and know that the owner will take his time to help you find just the right item for your needs and you’ll be supporting the local guy.

In the world of chains, this is a throw-back. To old-school Dearborn, perhaps. The owner, Steven Bernard, will take care of you personally. He knows what he’s doing. He’s been doing it forever. You’ll be happy with what you get. Not sure how good this place would be for any custom work, it didn’t seem to be something that he showcased. This is for personal service and support of the«shop around the corner» that isn’t a chain. Can be a bit slow, and be sure to keep track of what you bought and when… had to replace an earring that my wife had bought there and lost, and it was a hellish process that left it to me to figure out what we needed to reorder. Book-keeping probably not the strong point.

This place might be a little pricey, but the quality of his work is worth it. My family has been going here for years and has always been satisfied(my father got his wedding band here over 25 years ago). We also feel strongly about supporting local businesses. We had Stephen Bernard make our wedding bands. Usually this might be a simple task, just two silver circles, but of course we had to make it tricky. My engagement ring is a vintage setting and the wedding band had to be custom-made to fit its unique shape. It took him a while to do it, but the results were beautiful. The band perfectly matched the engagement ring, including etching to match the filigree. Oh yeah, J’s band is nice too.
