This is one of the random cool little things in the Decatur area. Back before this property was even Avondale Mall, it was the Crowley family farm, complete with family cemetery. When the property was sold, the mall developers were ordered to leave the cemetery alone. However, as part of the grading process, about ten-twelve feet or so of earth was removed, leaving a weird little building with the actual gravesites on top. You need a key to access the actual graves, but it’s cool to point out to people who don’t know about it. Five stars for an honest to god graveyard in a Wal-Mart parking lot. EDITTOADD: If you’re in the Wal-Mart parking lot, drive as far away from Columbia as possible until you get to the edge of the lot. Follow it around until you’re practically behind the Napa and the mausoleum should be right in front of you, hidden behind some trees.
