This place is a nightmare to deal with. Be warned! The sales and«service» staff is incompetent, to say the least. They never follow through or call you back. When you do finally get a hold of someone they never have a straight forward answer. This is an up-sell racket with last years styles and questionable«upgrades». I bought a pair of lenses that were suppose to be scratch resistant, for which I paid a hefty premium. The now have tons of scratches after only 6 or 7 months of LIGHT wear. The doctor is nice, but that’s the only positive part of this sham business.

Costumer service was rude on the phone. They put me on hold for a very long time and they never picked the phone back up.

Eyeworks Decatur is the only place I go for eye care and glasses. Why? It’s the service. From Dr. Birdsong’s care and attention to make sure she gets your prescription right, to being greeted by the cheery face and voice of Erin. The entire office seems to weigh in during the trial of so many of their stylin’ frames. Greg and Daniel always make sure to help me that last hurdle, and give me all the information I need. These guys are always going the extra mile and make me feel like I am a part of their family. Thanks, team!

I had a nice optician Daniel help me a few weeks ago with some Carerra sunglasses. I thought he was knowledgeable, efficient and kind. 5 star service.

nice doctor and it stopped there… I had to call mutiple times to find out my glasses were ready. No one cared. Very expensive. Then they broke and they could have cared less. Oh well– they-said. I found someone to repair them. Nice showroom and cool location but thats what your paying for. I expected more and was disappointed.

My wife and I went to Eyeworks of Decatur last November. Both of us had had our prescriptions updated and there were enough changes to warrant getting new glasses. But we have Lenscrafters within walking distance. Why, you ask, should we drive halfway across town to Eyeworks? Here’s the thing: In addition to polite, attentive service, Eyeworks has frames that you’re not going to find elsewhere in Atlanta, and they are patient enough to make sure your choice of frames is right for you. They’re not a bargain-basement operation, but they’re not ridiculous either — and considering the quality of their selection, their prices are reasonable. The only issue we had was with one of my wife’s lenses, which had a tricky imperfection in it.(Her prescription is somewhat complicated, which made the flaw hard to identify.) We had to make a couple of return trips to get it right, but the Eyeworks people were not going to let us leave without a perfect lens… and that’s what we ended up with. Bottom line? Good service and a selection of frames that you’re just not going to get anywhere else in the Atlanta area. Eyeworks is going to be our go-to eyeglasses place for the foreseeable future. As I noted above, we don’t even live anywhere near Decatur… but yes, they’re well worth the trip.

I utilized one of their deals for an eye exam. I get my lenses elsewhere and the sales reps didn’t love that, but they were nice enough regardless.

My eye exam was done efficiently and the doctor was knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. It was clear she wanted to help me figure out what I needed in changing my glasses.

GOODSERVICE. GREATSELECTION. I went to Eyeworks of Decatur on a Groupon offer. I found the service to be courteous and professional. Dr. Birdsong was knowledgeable and very accurate and very receiving when I went back due to the fact that I wasn’t ferrying accustomed to my new glasses and even gave me a second exam, no questions asked. The four stars are not based on service, but on price. A $ 59 Groupon for me an exam plus a $ 200 discount on frames and glasses. I wound up paying an additional $ 200 at the end of it all.

My wife and I had eye appt. at Eyeworks of Decatur. James was very helpful in picking out several styles of glasses. While we were seen by the very competent Dr. J. Birdsong, James had figured out the cost of each frame with lens and was ready to discuss cost for each when the exam was done. Great service at reasonable prices. I’ll return.

I have had several glasses from Eyeworks over the past few years, and — yes, they are high end, but that was what I was looking for: excellent quality all round. I have not asked for a prescription from them, so was not aware of the $ 20 fee, though I suspect it would probably be good business sense to make this a ‘freebie’. Buying glasses, the fitting process and the eye examination I found to be highly professional, and consistent with the high-end experience I was seeking.

Best way to describe Eyeworks is it’s a «no frills» place to go for a very basic eye exam. I’ve been wearing glasses and contacts since I was 15 and this was the first time I didn’t get my eyes dilated at the eye doctor. Although the eyeglass selection is unique, it is limited and very expensive. If you need your prescription, they’ll give it to you but it will NOT include your pupil distance. This is something you’ll need to order glasses, from them or anyplace else. If you don’t buy their glasses, they’ll charge you an extra $ 20 for it. I’ve never had to pay extra for something that’s always been included on my prescription as a part of my annual exam… this was a new experience as well. Bottom line, I tried this place out because I saw a great deal on Living Social and needed new glasses. James was very helpful in finding a pair that I loved but I didn’t want to pay $ 509 for them. It may be helpful if you mention up front a range you’re trying to stay within so that you’re not surprised in the end. I didn’t care for the front desk lady who told me to give the HIPAA form back if I planned to just go home and throw it away. Dr. Birdsong was good and pleasant enough. Based on the overall experience, I’ll definitely be returning to a private practice doctor for my annual evaluation next year.

Wouldn’t recommend. Its that simple. I guess they were angry about my initial review? Maybe that explains the spelling errors.(since been redacted by the owner). This reply represents the second correspondence with them that really has angered me. I need to go cheer up. Definitely not worth the aggravation.

Ran out of contacts and freaked out, as I usually do when my 1-year stash dwindles away. Complete lack of planning on my part. I called and got an appointment after making sure that my insurance covered the exam though I was a bit nervous from the reviews. There were a few back and forth calls the day before my appointment to clarify the insurance so that was a bit annoying, but whatever. The counter staff was friendly. Dr. Birdsong was absolutely lovely and also friendly. Gave me great advice on my dry eyes and honest advice on Lasik. My contact fitting took about 10 seconds. The downside of the visit was when I was handed a laptop and asked as a favor to type in a review right then and there on Facebook about the store! Never seen that before and it definitely irritated me… who writes a review when they are in the middle of receiving a service?! If I was a repeat customer for years, maybe it makes sense to ask, but I am a new customer. To be fair they didn’t push for the review when I said I’d Unilocal it later, so it was fine. I got what I came for, which was my eye exam and my glasses and contacts prescription, so I can’t comment on the sales people for buying glasses and contacts in the store. But, I would definitely recommend coming to Dr. Birdsong if you need your eyes checked.

Don’t believe the reviews on here that say favorable things about this place. I wish I had listened to my instincts. I knew there were going to be hitches when I went in to get my eye exam and had to wait(20 minutes). I was walking around looking at the frames, you know because what else are you gonna do? The saleswoman followed me around(pet peeve) and started asking me all these questions. I told her I had my frames already(from Frames Direct USA for about $ 100 bucks, though I didn’t say the price). The saleswoman’s whole affect changed. Ms. Helpful became rude with me and talked about those frames were sub-par, which is not true because they are designer frames and not defects.(Frames Direct has awesome customer service btw.) Anyhoo, I didn’t argue with her and just sat down to wait for the doctor to see me. Then once I got the exam, which was fine, I ordered my lenses. The guy at the desk gave me the run-around about getting my prescription, though. I told him I wanted to have it.(It is your legal right to have it for one year.) He went into the back for a good 10 minutes(was he asking someone?) and when he came back out, he gave me a copy of it with an attitude. Wow, thanks. Then they overcharged me for the exam. then someone else tried to sell me frames again. Woah, settle down, guys. Then, it took over three weeks for my glasses to come in. WTF. And you know, I don’t even think my prescription is correct. Won’t be coming back here.

I have been here twice and each time I received great service. I am a student at Emory and they accept our student health insurance. They are very familiar with the process and provide you information about how to file for your claim. I was getting new glasses each time I have been there and the glasses were ready within a week of my appointment. I would recommend to others.

I was a little nervous about going here due to the range of reviews I read beforehand, but I’ve had some bad experiences in eye joints before so I was sure I could handle it if it went horribly wrong. There was some trouble with the insurance that delayed my exam, but the exam went really well. I have to say that I did not see Dr. Roman though, who other Unilocalers have dissed. He was out that day and had a lady Dr friend fill in for him. She was awesome. My one pet peeve though — I ordered 1 year worth of contacts at one time and usually when I do so at other eye joints, they give me 3 – 5 free samples of contact solution and cases. I only got one solution sample and one case. Cheapsters, but what-ev. I’ll probably go back just because it’s convenient.

Great service and attention to detail I am not sure why the other reviewer had such an attitude I understand that I am paying more but Eyeworks is much better than the mall quick service/low quality or online service which definitely leaves out the personal attention I have never been pushed to buy what I did not want
