Having four coffee houses within a block radius of my home in San Francisco, I got a little spoiled. Decatur is not known for it’s coffee houses but a fellow named Zach who works at the Joe Muggs told me to check out Java Jaay. So glad that I did. It’s a very soothing, laif-back environment to eat, read and drink caffeine. Their menu is pretty simple with espresso, lattes and mochas. But the mochas are decadent. Heath Bar mocha? Milky Way mocha? Oh my! They also have a killer Cashew Chicken Salad sandwich which people swear by. I just had their large coffee and it was rich and perfectly brewed. I sat and watched a gathering of Census Bureau workers congregate at the tables. I thought they were supposed to be walking the neighborhoods? They were there for quite some time but who is to blame them? Great staff and the owner, Bunk, a dedicated coffee man. The café is right next to Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ. the parking can be a little tricky with the food plant behind it.
