I was looking for the nearest place I could visit for an oil change, and as it turns out this one is just down the road from me. I thought I might as well check it out, even if it only had one review at the time, and so I started up my car and headed over. When I first arrived I was a little unnerved by the somewhat uninspiring exterior, but I had already gone to the trouble of coming out so I decided to investigate further. I located the tiny office at the edge of the largish garage and went in. Fortunately, appearances are often deceiving. The receptionist was very friendly, as were the mechanics. It wasn’t the cheapest oil change I’ve ever had, but $ 30 isn’t bad for such a convenient location. Plus the receptionist and I had a nice conversation and she told me about some sites I’m eager to check out. Good service, good location, good deal!

My car developed what looked like a minor problem not long after I bought it. The fuel trim was off. It was trying to run lean. This escalated into eight weeks of major problems over the course of this summer. Over the whole several months of this mess, once I had given up trying to solve the problem myself, four shops looked at it. Some got pretty far. The only one who got to the bottom of it, replaced a dry-rotted vacuum hose, and patched a small cylinder head crack. I was about to wash my hands of this troublesome vehicle, but this man saved my car in two days, two tries, at a very reasonable rate. It involved a tough repair. I am a poor student, and I liked the car, so this is a big deal to me. From the stress of everything else, or maybe just because life is tough, a hose integral to my air conditioning exploded in a really dramatic cloud of fog and freon last week. I will return to Lauro’s Auto Service for fixed AC if my law school plans are conducive to keeping this car through another summer. I will also remember this shop in my Christmas baking.
