Delicious food! Love the buffet! Such a great place to be and eat! I just wish they were cheaper!

I have been eating at Monicals since I was a kid. Used to spend my Friday nights there in high school. Always good food even when they mess up because they will bring you another pizza and you can keep both. Yum!

This location has been torn down. There are still two other options to have Monical’s in the Decatur area though. One is out by Forsyth and the other is in Mt. Zion. Always great pizza!

While I didn’t have a chance on my trip to try the authentic Chicago style pizza, I did have a chance to try Monical’s pizza and their famous red salad dressing. I guess Monical’s is known for their thin crust pizza, but we ordered the Point pizza, which has a thicker crust and is triangle shaped. We actually ordered the«Family Pleaser» meal which was about $ 20 and included a pitcher of soda, a salad, and a pizza big enough for the four of us. The salad was covered in cheese, a bit too much for me! The red dressing was good, sweet and tangy, but if you put too much on it was too sweet to eat. The pizza was great! We had pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives. The pizza on it’s own was really good, but dipped in red dressing it was even better! I saw signs for Monical’s all over Illinois while we were driving from city to city, so this is definitely a chain, but I can see why people like it! Much better than the chains we have here in Cali, i’m looking at you, Pizza Hut and Dominos.

The lunch service is nice but a little slow for my liking. Plan for it to take about an hour or more to get your food and have time to eat it. But the pizza and salads are excellent! No complaints about the food!

Excellent service, even though busy. Pizza was excellent. Friendly staff. Difficult parking due to construction and design of the lot.

I’ve been away from Decatur for about a month now, and I already miss Monical’s Pizza. The thin crust is so awesome; it’s truly a good balance between dough and toppings. I had never dipped my pizza in anything besides ranch dressing prior to moving to the Midwest. There’s something to be said about their sweet and tangy French dressing. Wow. My first time dipping in to that was truly an eye-opening experience. If you order ahead from Monical’s, be prepared for a longer than average wait compared to Papa John’s or Little Caesars. The staff takes awhile to fulfill the orders partly because of the sheer volume that they have to handle, but also because of the quality and care they put in to ensuring that the product is actually good!

So if we are in Decatur for one meal — Krekels or Monicals — Krekels or Monicals — the kids will work through the debate and will pick one or the other. We now have Monical’s locally and the hometown version in Decatur if slightly better. Thin crispy and good.

Growing up in Decatur, IL, I have an appreciation for Monical’s pizza. I actually think that electric orange French dressing runs through my veins(well, that and some of the scary Lake Decatur water). So when I come to Decatur for the holidays, Monical’s pizza is one of the first things on my «to do» list. For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of eating quite possibly the best pizza in the world, Monical’s is thin crust pizza. It’s similar to St. Louis style, but without the Provel cheese. Quite honestly, it’s the best of both worlds. They also have green olives as a topping option– yessss!!! Finally, the best thing about Monical’s is their French dressing. This electric orange goo is the«piece de resistance» to the pizza. I don’t eat French dressing on any other pizza… just Monical’s. And it’s delicious. I’ve treated out-of-town friends to Monical’s and gotten mixed reactions. But any true Decatur-ite knows and appreciates how great this pizza really is.

I don’t get what all the rage is with Monicals pizza. Compared to Del Carmens it sucks. Waaay too much pepper. You have to dip it in that stupid sauce just to get some kind of flavor. But I will say that its a good place to go with a big group like after a ballgame or something. Many good times have been had at Monicals.

For a stinky little blue-collar industrial town, Decatur sure does have some fame-worthy eateries. Monical’s Pizza is the third-best thing in Decatur, after Krekel’s burgers and Del Carmen’s pizza, respectively. Monical’s mastered the thin crust pizza in a way that I have never seen replicated. So crispy and delicate, it’s practically pizza on a cracker.
