After visiting Morgan County Courthouse’s Car/Tag registration office I felt like I had come out of a day spa, so at ease was I. You see, going to a California DMV is like performing one of Hercules’ 12 Labors. Or Dante’s Inferno. or a combo of the two. If the California DMV isn’t closed due to the state being broke, it is jammed-packed with a sea of people waiting to go to line A or B. Here, I stood at the door wondering where the line of people were and the woman behind the desk beckoned me in like a Siren. No line? No waiting? No way! I gave her my car title and bill of sale and I was out of there in seven minutes! I told the woman what a pleasure it was to be here in Decatur as opposed to the horrific lines of California and she just laughed. Very professional and inexpensive. cost me $ 27.66 total! And I didn’t have to bribe anyone! I would have given five stars but when I went down to the first floor to the license/ID place, the woman behind the desk seemed confused about my request for an Alabama non-driver ID. She told me to go next door although that seemed to be where they conducted the driver’s test. I’ll have to delve into this another day.
