As per my usual I waited for a second experience to review. The atmosphere was a little quiet but I came in an hour before close both times. It was comfortable and the staff was pleasant with a welcoming vibe. I wouldn’t say professional, but more like coming over to a friends house, which I enjoy greatly. The food was excellent. My first visit I had the steak sandwich and it was well seasoned and prepared meat in between delightfully crusty bread. It was balanced and sufficiently salty to be delicious but not so much as to drown the other flavors. The second visit I had beef stew which was perfect for a cold night. It was served with sliced baguette . I complimented this with their cuban sandwich. It was a delightful twist on a classic sandwich. The mustard was tangy and the pickles are a sweeter variety than usually comes with it. It was served on bread that more resembled a media noche bread which is softer, but still simply delightful. I would recommend anyone interested in a good sandwich to drop by.

Great place to get a delicious sandwich in a hurry. Sawicki’s uses the best and freshest ingredients. Butcher shop is also A+.

I eat here regularly. I truly need a weekly fix of their Mediterranean salad. I usually get it with chicken as an add-on. Their sandwiches are rivaled only by those of Victory(also in Decatur). Try the salmon salad. Their daily soups are generally excellent. For nice meals I cook at home I usually go here for my cuts of meat. You do get what you pay for.

We think Sawicki’s is one of the best sandwich spots in town… if you come during the day when they have a full staff. So why the 2 stars? We have eaten there at least a dozen times but anytime we come at 6p or 7p the sandwiches are not the same quality. They are often backed up and the guy taking the orders is very harried and making sandwiches. Last time I only ate half my sandwich because it was a gooey greasy mess. Sorry Sawicki’s but someone has to tell you…

I asked Lynne to prepare a spread of small plates for my wedding reception — and they were delicious and nicely presented. We particularly liked the meatballs and goat cheese stuffed dates! She is a wonderful person to work with and makes great food! Kate from Atlanta

A great source for high quality meat! I ordered a whole hog from Sawicki’s to roast for a July Fourth party and Lynne was super helpful at every step of the process. She worked with a supplier to get the right size hog, provided cooking advice and even gave us some free ice when we came to pick it up. I would highly recommend Sawicki’s if you are looking for a good butcher in Decatur.

Stopped by for lunch and got the Shrimp Po-boy and a salmon salad sandwitch. Both were outstanding but I would lean towards the Po-boy, not a knock against the salmon salad just the Po-boy was that good. Also the cookies where out of this world. I will be back for sure.

I went with my 2 year old daughter on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the shrimp po-boy because I love them. It had a few well cooked shrimp, but the bread wasn’t the traditional New Orleans French bread. It was just ok; not bad, but not 100% authentic. It was pretty empty on a Saturday for lunch in the Springtime. Service was good at the counter. Deli meats and salads looked good too, but I didn’t try them.

Do not be deceived! My mom and I were the first customers at Sawickis on Sunday. When you step inside, the air is thick and smells fishy. The young man behind the counter was very attentive, but all the foods below the counter, to be honest, looked crusty and old… Regardless, we ordered and headed to the table outside to wait for our meals that, again, to be totally honest, I expected to be disappointing. WRONG! As soon as our sandwiches showed up, my mouth was watering and I couldn’t dig in fast enough. DELICIOUS. I have the turkey sandwich and everything was so fresh — avocado, tomato, greens. Delicious cheese. Wonderfully fresh and tasty turkey, and the bread was also excellent. Mom had the Mediterranean — also awesome. I don’t know where to get sandwiches like this in Nashville… I’ll be thinking about Sawicki’s for weeks to come! Don’t miss it!

Good food; weird atmosphere. I felt like I was eating lunch in a butcher shop… I had the Cuban sandwich, Bbq chips(which were delicious), and a black cherry Boylan soda that could have been colder. Like I said, food was good – atmosphere was bizarre.

I like their unique old school meat shop set up and design. They have several meat selections when you enter as well as a variety of baked goods around the corner. They also have other condiments for sale(presumably locally made stuff). They have sandwiches(hot and cold) made to order. We got the shrimp poboy($ 9.25) and lamb sandwich($ 9.25). Both were very good and tasted fresh. It would have been nice to get some kind of side with it. The size is about the same as a a Giant Club sub from Jimmy Johns. The young guy working there was very friendly and helpful. The place is well maintained. Parking is a little tricky b/c it’s street parking. I wouldn’t park across the street at CVS. I saw 3 cars getting booted when I was leaving. Overall, I would recommend this place.

Sawicki’s deli sub style sandwich tasted perfect perhaps because Sawicki’s is a 100% organic deli. The all natural farm grown lamb was just the start. There were fresh vegetables, one sauce, and the hint of another sauce which tasted like bbq and may have been marinated into the lamb. Each bun was slightly toasted with a butter spread on the cut sides. One savory sub sandwich alone sufficed as dinner for one could possibly make lunch for two.

So awesome! Try this spot next time goes in downtown Decatur for lunch! You won’t regret one bite! They also have a gourmet meat section and i took home some local soft cheese made with truffles. Cant wait to pair it with my favorte craft beer!

My friend and I wandered into Sawicki’s, looking for a bakery. We saw that Sawicki’s was mostly a deli with a bakery area, so we were skeptical that their stuff would be any good. We tried their macaroons, peanut butter chocolate treat, fudge brownie, and cheesecake brownie. All were surprising delicious for a mostly-deli. The cheesecake brownie was my favorite. It was tangy, swirled with just enough chocolate to add balance without being overwhelmingly sweet. Also, everything we bought was half off since it was after 6pm. Customer service was the best of all. The person working there brought us water and napkins without request when he saw us sitting down! I’ll definitely be going again, probably to see if their sandwiches are as good as their baked goods!

Do delicious artisan sandwiches made to order sound good to you? Well Sawicki’s got them. I’ve only visited them twice but each time I had a 5-star experience. They have a wide variety of meats to pile onto your hand-crafted sandwich and sweet desserts to wrap up your meal. So far, I’ve tried their Salmon Salad Sandwich and their Pimento Cheese and Meatloaf Sandwich. Both very fulfilling and met my high-expectations. At nearly $ 9 a sandwich it better, right? Cost is totally worth it. Their bread is fresh and crusty, delivered daily from Alon’s. If you are familiar with Alon’s, you know they are an excellent bakery. Excellent meats and toppings deserve excellent bread. I highly recommend this place. The only downside is the parking. Sawicki’s is located in Downtown Decatur where chances of getting a parking ticket is greater. Thanks Park Atlanta! *shakes fists*

Had my first visit to Sawiki’s today. Looks pretty legit from the outside, and fairly nondescript on the inside, save for some local art for sale on the walls. There’s a selection of meats and prepared side dishes in the front cooler that looked great, but opted for the sandwiches this time around. I got the Steak Tri-Tip sandwich, which came with french fries ON the sandwich. Very juicy, seemed a little light on the beef, but after one bite it didn’t really matter. The fries on their own would be superb, but on the sandwich it definitely helped it rise above. I rarely see tri-tip outside of central california, so I was excited to find it down here in the South. Prices are a little high for just a sandwich, but these are artisan sandwiches, and each ingredient is purposefully chosen. Oh, and the bread, thick and crusty, so delicious. Will go again for sure. Bought a second sandwich on my way out the door, just because there were so many good options to choose from and I wanted a second helping for dinner that night. Great stuff!

Your first experience with Sawicki’s may come to pass much as mine has — Passing by dozens of times(unknowingly) on foot and not paying much mind to the exterior; a friend or connection of sorts gives you a nudge to try their selection of magnificent sandwiches; a proper visit ensues, your face lights up with excitement upon your first indulgence of the Cuban; cue planning for return visit. Sawicki’s is much more than just a simple deli counter selling by-the-pound meats of all kinds. They have a small grocery selection of items for cooking and preparing at home, potable bottled favorites from cream sodas to Mexican Coca Cola, and tons of desserts. One thing I love is that they sell Springer Mountain Chicken in the case. Easily one of my favorite(perhaps the best) chicken for all types of preparation. We visited on a busy Decatur Saturday and snagged a spot in the aft of the building. Note: There are a few parking spaces available with marked signs for Sawicki’s, but the hours are very specific as these spaces are also shared with the adjacent gallery once Sawicki’s has closed. Be sure to read carefully of the space you decide to occupy. We stepped right up to the counter and ordered a few sandwiches. For me, the Cuban. For my wife, the Tartine. The Cuban is perfect, should you find yourself wondering. Crispy, crusty Cuban bread, yellow mustard(they have brown or deli mustard as well), pork, ham, Wickles pickles, swiss. Pressed flat and served on a huge bias. I indulged and it was glorious. The Tartine is equally wonderful. Artichokes, spinach, avocado, tomato, aioli and parmesan on ciabatta. Served open-face and is best tackled via fork and knife. The flavors are wonderful and would make any vegetarian swoon. I’m enamored deeply by what Sawicki’s does. It is easily one of the most expertly crafted sandwiches I’ve had for it’s variety and style of business. Can’t wait for a return visit.

I got that po boy and it was pretty good. Their version is a gourmet version of the original. I got extra shrimp on mine. My sister got the shaved turkey and she said it was good. This is a cool spot that has fresh meats, sides, and deserts like a homemade Oreo. Check this spot out…

So I am in town to see my grandmother and her boyfriend and she was super excited about taking me to this classic deli and seafood sandwich place, but I was suspicious of my grandmother’s tastes. It was however a delightful lunch moment. The sandwiches were just absolutely delicious — the best cuban(sandwhich not the cigar) of my life — complete with sweet potato chips and small time root beer… in a quaint little shop spending quality family time.

You know you’ve hit the food hammer on the head when you take that first bite of whatever it is you ordered and pull it away from your face to appreciate the visual beauty of what you just ate. I ordered the lamb sandwich and I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that it revolutionized my taste buds and made me extremely proud to be alive. The bread was perfect– with a crisp outer crust, a moist chewy center & enough texture to appreciate the baking artistry but not so much that it overpowers the meat. The lamb was moist, expertly seasoned and plentiful. So. Freaking. Good. This place doesn’t look much like a restaurant with limited seating and most of those seats around a large common table. The main focal point is the meat cooler and the deserts. Certainly more deli than eatery but it doesn’t matter… the food is worth it. Try this place for a quick lunch. Yeah bring your business clients, you’ll look cosmopolitan and be proclaimed a total foodie for scoring this place.

Sawicki’s is my favorite sandwich shop in metro Atlanta. It’s located a couple doors down from Cakes & Ale on Ponce De Leon in downtown Decatur. This is more of a place to grab lunch, a snack, or specialty foods as they’re not open very late(11am-7pm, Tuesday-Thursdays; 11am-8pm Fridays and Saturdays; 12−5pm, Sundays). Sawicki’s is a small market and deli. They have shelves stocked with various canned vegetables(e.g. San Marzano tomatoes), specialty dry goods(e.g. rice, pasta, crackers), and different sauces and condiments. Most of the sauces are used for meats(e.g. BBQ and Worcestershire sauce) and there are some gourmet pasta sauces as well. Sawicki’s also sells jars of Southern-style pickled vegetables, some almost similar to chow-chow. Near the register and behind the glass deli cases are where the meats, cheeses, and sweet stuff can be found. The meats include Painted Hills natural beef and Wagyu beef franks. You can order all sorts of cuts of chicken, beef, and lamb. They also have a limited selection of seafood. The fish is filleted at the store. The meats are locally raised and the seafood comes from in-state, the East Coast, and the Gulf. Desserts include cookies, cupcakes, brownies, pralines, and more. One of the more amusing offerings are the food books in the back. They are available for purchase by the pound. As for the sandwiches, they offer about about a dozen different hot and cold sandwiches, along with several special sandwiches. One of their specials, which I really like, is the meatloaf and pimento cheese sandwich. It’s killer. It tastes exactly how it sounds — thick slices of meatloaf topped with pimento cheese. The cheese was just oozing out of the sides of the sandwich. I’m also a big fan of their Italian sandwich, which features alfalfa and a variety of cold cuts among other ingredients. The combination of meats, veggies, and dressing make this a ridiculously tasty sandwich. All of the sandwiches I’ve tried at Sawicki’s are fresh and delicious. They may take a while to come out, but they’re worth the wait. Miscellaneous notes: Sawicki’s is named after the owner, Lynne Sawicki. I was told by one of the employees that Sawicki is a Polish name.
