I have been going to Animed for over 25 years. Dr. Salter is a wonderful, very knowledgeable, kind, vet. He can diagnose a problem as soon as he sees it without recommending you spending thousands of dollars on needless procedures. The entire staff truly cares about every animal and will also fit you in if you ever have an emergency, they will not turn you and your loved pet away. Doctor Salter is especially good on breaks and broken bones, he is an excellent surgeon.

Animed was WONDERFUL for a recent vacation we had and had to drop off a pet. Jordan was incredible with keeping our pet and all other items throughout the kennel’s clean and up to date. Everyone else was also friendly and everything worked out as planned in the end.
I would recommend Animed to anyone… it’s a great (& local for me!) place for pets!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. SALTER and his staff. I have 7 animals and Dr Salter takes care of them all… He is conservative. .he doesn’t just do things to make money… He truly loves all animals and it shows with his kindness and care to the animals and their owners. His staff is friendly and they are so educated in animal care. Can not say enough wonderful things about this Animal Hospital!

I honestly thought I was bringing my dog to be put down a few months ago, she looked like she had suffered a stroke but it turn out to be another ailment that affects balance (she couldn’t even stand up). Well after two weeks of tender loving care by Dr Salter and his EXCELLANT staff she came home on the road to recovery.
During the entire stay they allowed us to come visit her at various time of the day and were quite accommodating. She’s 14 years old now and Dr Salter operated on her a few times for various ailments and am feel he’s been a huge contributor in her longevity.

I adopted my kitty Missy about a week ago now from Animed. Wonderful staff! And Missy is loving her new home!

I have had 3 different dogs that needed care and received it at Animed. The Dr got along with each one of them even though they all had different personalities. Most recently my 5 month pup got a hold of a lacrosse stick in the backyard and when I found her, her front canine was twisted and crocked. I called in immediately and the staff handled my concerns patiently and courteously. I came in within the hour and saw the doctor, he said it was a baby tooth and proceeded to rip it out and send me on my way free of charge.

Dr. Salter and his staff are amazing! skilled, informed and most of all — love what they do — and it shows!
My dogs love this place!

I have been going to Animed since 1994. He treated my dog Cocoa for over 13 years. After her passing, he has been treating my 2 new dogs. He is a kind and gentle person — and I know I will see HIM, not some other random vet. His staff has been there for many many years as well — a sure sign of a good place to be.
I refer everyone I know to him. He does not do unnecessary tests, and he listens to my input on how I feel my dogs should be treated.

I have to say from all of my family to the staff and Dr Salter THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS & MISSY’S, Our Missy girl (cat) 4 years old got into a toxic house plant, that infected her liver, she was very yellow and very well have to say on her way out, with the help and around the clock love and support from Animed Staff & Dr Salter, 3 and half weeks later Missy is doing well and back to her own self, we walk in there with her and she is like a Queen, My Family will always be so grateful for all the hard work and love they gave to Missy THEY SAVED HER LIFE !!! and we will NEVER FORGET IT. Thank You All ! We have our Baby girl back and we are so lucky, usually this is NOT a good out come with this disease of the liver, The team is outstanding I take my hat off to all of you with the deepest gratitude… Dr. Salter’s Gretta, Ariane, Katie. wasn’t for you all well the out come would of been well don’t want to say Thank You from Missy…((((MEOW))) & Family

So the vet there may be as wonderful and competent as they come, but I did not meet him and the staff in the front could not have treated me any worse. I have been fostering a cat for the last few months who needed ‘to have her eye removed’ so I brought her in. The woman asked her name, then took her out back without a word and disappeared. After 15 minutes of standing there like a fool someone asked if I was all set. I said I didn’t know; I hadn’t been given any paperwork, been asked or had they offered to answer any questions, or been told when I could return. I was quite open about the fact that this little lady was very scared and in the months that I’ve had her that today was the first time I was able to catch her.
You would think that they may tell me what to expect when I brought her home, what aftercare would be involved, what accommodations she would need, etc. Nope.
I picked her up after work, they handed me her in her carrier and said she did great and seemed ready to let me walk out the the door. So I chased down the tech and (to her annoyance) started asking questions such as: are there antibiotics? How should I clean the incision? Is it okay that she is with her sister in the apartment. With absolutely no sense of empathy or understanding she said how she needed to be kept isolated in a separate room for at least 2 weeks and separated from her sister.
Really? I live in an apartment in Boston with 3 roommates and 1 bathroom. She suggested I put her in a spare room, the bathtub, or a closet. When I told her about the bathroom she replied, ‘oh, your roommates can’t keep an eye on her?’ Oh yes, just what they need, a terrified cat lunging at them as they go to the bathroom at 2am! I’m a grad student living in Allston, if we had an extra bedroom we would have another roommate. And on top of that I have to dropper antibiotics into her mouth twice a day. Remember that part where I can’t get near her?
No empathy, no idea of what to expect until I was out the door, and no usable solutions. Don’t bother if you expect any support from the tech staff.

I’m sorry to say that I made such a mistake by going to Animed, I was actually pretty much forced to go there by the town of Dedham’s canine officer after my dog got hit by a car. It was after that that I realized that they have some sort of contract with the town. From the moment I got there with my injured dog they treated her and me with such disrespect. When we arrived my dog was lethargic and having trouble breathing and Greta put a muzzle on her. Then, they carried her by her legs from the car to the back, not even with a draw sheet. It was moments later that Dr Salter came out and said «shes dead» and without sympathy or explanation left the room. Then they left her on the table with blood, etc for us to view. Anyways, I know my dog would have probably passed due to the severity of her injuries but just to know she was treated with such disrespect, suffered the last minutes of her life, and passed without dignity really upsets me and I hope no other person experience I had with that animal hospital. If you want your dog to be treated with dignity and respect, go somewhere else.

Dr. Salter and the entire staff at Animed had a hand in saving my dog’s life. I have never been to a veterinarian’s office where the warmth and care for animals was so palpable.
As a crazy dog person, leaving my furry baby with anyone is a challenge — but — knowing that he was getting top of the line care AND lots of affection put my mind at ease. Every one of the staff — Dr. Salter, Gretta, Ariane, Katie and Michelle have my eternal gratitude.
These people will have my business for as long as we live in the area. I can’t recommend them more highly.

if i could give less than one star, i would.
as far as i’m concerned, they killed two of my dogs years apart. after the 1^st died, i foolishly continued to use their services. then years later, their neglect killed another of my dogs. the dog was suffering, his kidney was shutting down, he was losing weight. they insisted that he must have diahrea. PLEASE. they did NOTHING. it was too late by the time we switched over to «Dr Wolf’s» in Dedham & they correctly diagnosed him. Dr Wolf’s ROCKS!

I am not sure where some of the negative reviews for Animed have gone, so I elected to create an account and write one myself. This is my first and only review on Unilocal,as my experience at Animed was so horrifying I elected to create and account and make my (and my dog’s) voice heard.
If zero stars were an option, this review would have none.
We came to Animed from reviews online, and we were fond of their pricing. When it came time for our dog, Charlie, to be put on medication we put our faith in the doctors and staff at Animed. We were completely wrong to do so. They prescribed our dog 10x the dose of medication that he needed (5mL per day as opposed to .5mL per day), and when we questioned them we were told to do exactly as the bottle said and everything would be fine. They didn’t return our phone calls, and never even bothered to apologize when they discovered that the dosage was incorrect. When I FINALLY spoke to the vet himself I said to him «if this were any other type of medication, my dog would be dead» to which he replied «that certainly wouldn’t have been a good situation». Ummm, excuse me?
Mistakes happen, but this is egregious. Perhaps I wouldn’t post a nasty review if: they returned my phone calls, they apologized, they offered any follow-​up care for a dog that received 3 months of medication in 3 days. Unless you’d like to have a dead pet, I wouldn’t go here — I’d rather pay more and have a vet I can trust.

I think the negative reviews are being a bit harsh here. First off, Dr. Salter is absurdly nice and great with the animals. We brought our second cat in because he was itching his ears, and Dr. Salter handled him amazingly. Especially considering how loony our cat is. We call him the bag of weasels. Anyway, I’ve been here a couple of times and it doesn’t smell any worse than any other vet I’ve been to. As for the techs, I have noticed they’re not the best. Nia is right to be irate about her experience here, they should have told her about the side effects (everyone knows that virtually ALL medications have possible side effects, why wouldn’t they say?) and they should have picked up the phone. That is really unprofessional. But I have to say, for our cats, we had great experiences here.
