I had my car there twice. (No coupons) they were kind, quick and with no issues afterward. The first time I pulled in without an appointment, and they got me in right away. (the second time I called first)

Had a nail in a tire, was offered to replace all tires. Went to PepBoys across the street, they took the nail out for 20 $. I have been driving for over three months with no issues.

Charlie V. is as honest and competent as you could get. We had to pull in to this location with our 1992 Jeep Cherokee pickup truck. We are not from the area and had a feeling we were pushing our luck with this vehicle delivering furniture to friends in Dedham. On a Monday night at 7pm we left the vehicle with seriously smoking brakes and melted hub cap covers. The next day we returned to figure out what to do. Charlie V. had checked the truck out, found nothing, except its geriatric age and possible over use (my take, not his) charged us nothing and said he could find nothing. Therefore, he did not perform any work on the truck. We drove the car many miles home and were fine. This kind of honesty and integrity deserves recognition.

When I went in Dave greeted me with a smile the shop looked very busy so I was worried about getting my brakes checked on time to keep my appointment he assured me that I would be in and out within the hour he kept his word and my brakes needed new pads so I scheduled an appointment for the next day Dave remembered my name and took me in for the price that he told me without trying to add other stuff I hope they keep Dave here I know the store has had many managers

I have been here 3 times for various problems on my 2008 Honda Fit. The manager has always been extremely helpful and polite, and answered my (many) questions in a patient manner. He also took me out to the work area to show me specifically what was wrong (brake pads, rotors, and a major problem with 2 tires). On my first visit, I just got an appraisal, as I was totally broke at the time. When I could afford the work, it was done expertly. I did have to wait for a bit – that’s my only complaint!

Don’t go here. They’re crooks, and after I left there, my ac wasn’t working anymore. When I called, they acted like I was crazy, and that it couldn’t have been their fault. I hate this place, it was my first and last time there. Do not go there.

W/​coupon @hand brought our 2012 Chevy Express van Oct 25, for regular oil change & wheel rotation since newly acquired vehicle had reached 5Kmi.
After talking w/​mgr. Joe who went ahead mentioning his son was in the USMC also and that he could do better than the $ 21.99 coupon I felt @ ease & in good hands.
Arrival was @10:30 and after short 30mins vehicle was brought in to a bay. Since the place had only one other car inside I figured would be out in a jiffy, ha. It took the tech about 1 hr. to get the wheels rotated, since he was going back and forth to other vehicle.
At 12:10 and just when the tech was getting ready to do the oil change, a Cadillac suv pulls in w/​minor rattling problem. When reminded Joe that I was there first & why don’t have the tech finish me up, vehicle’s aleady up in the air it’ll take 10−15mis to drain & refill; he goes: just need the guy to help me for minute; that minute turned out to be more than an hr. and needless to say was somewhat annoyed, as used to 30mins of wait time once the car is actually brought in @ Sears ½ mile up the street.
Fully expecting the mgr. to at least step up and honor his statement, bill presented was for $ 30.31. When asked why so high, what happened to «will do better» than coupon presented and that Sears bangs out oil changes @ $ 20 – 22 all day long, that’s what they actually charge if you have a commercial account, meaning more than just one vehicle, received whole lot of blah-​blahs and that oil sold by Sears is junk.
Figuring what the heck, there are worse things in life just take the van and never go back there, low pressure indicator light was on; mentioning this to both the Haitian tech who didn’t know the diff between his rear-​end and his elbow and Joe who was still tied up w/​same suv he suggested that since van’s tire psi calls for 50/​front and 80/​rear and wheels rotated simply, just inflate tires accordingly; after doing so however, light was still on; «oh, don’t worry, light will shut off after awhile» they both said. Highly doubtful from experience, once psi reaches appropriate level censor shuts light off instantly, left @2:30 quite irritated.
W/​light still on, went back @5pm. Mgr. Joe this time and fortunately, no other cars were there re-​inflated tires to no avail while scratching his head. After checking owner’s manual, found out that wheels need to be re-​calibrated if their location is changed. This is done w/​on-​board computer albeit Joe stranger to procedure.
7pm ended up leaving frustrated having wheels back in original locations, not rotated, inflated as they should and @least light off.
Would think that a reputable place like Monro would only hire competent & knowledgeable personnel, two things are set in stone;
1. Would never set foot in that establishment, ever.
2. Would not recommend that place to anyone.

Had a coupon so I thought I’d try this place out for an oil change and free air filter. It was alright. Service was not that great. There
P. s. 1hour for an oil change, and I had an appointment cause the wait was 40 minutes when I came around the first time. but still had to wait an hour when I came back

I arrived at 7:45 am for a scheduled 8am appointment. The Service Manager, Joe Sorenti, stood around talking for an hour because «he couldn’t do anything because he had to man the phones and he couldn’t let the mechanic answer the phones because he was Haitian and no one could understand him»
Another mechanic got there at 10:05am, it took Joe over 20 minutes to get the mechanic to drive my car to see what the problem was. This was after me reminding Joe if someone could drive my car to see what the problem was. So it is now well after 10:30am.
None of the mechanics or Joe, could figure out what the problem was. I told Joe, that I thought it might be a wheel bearing because I had looked it up online. Joe said, «No, it is probably the brakes.» When I said «Well, maybe, but I know what my brakes failing sounds like and this is a creaking sound and the back of the car is shaking.» He said «I don’t understand what you mean. Squeaking?» I said «No, more like something hasn’t been oiled, like an old truck.» Joe responded, «I don’t know what you are trying to say.» He was extremely condescending and sexist. He acted similarly to other female customers.
Another hour of sitting there, I was told it was a dented rotor. The final conclusion was my right front wheel bearing. So I said, «Okay, fix it.» I said I’d be back. I left the garage for two hours. I came back to find that the «part had just come in» and Joe barked «I couldn’t find the time to bring it back to the mechanics!»
At 1pm, Joe comes out and tells me that now the left side wheel bearing is broken as well and my left axle and walked away. On several occasions he didn’t know which car was mine or which side of the car was actually being fixed. When he came out again, I asked him «What exactly are you fixing?» I just wanted a simple answer. Joe yelled at me in front of other customers and then walked away again.
I finally got my car back at 3:30, I left with one fixed wheel bearing. The rest is still «broken» after 8 hours and $ 365.00.

I’ve never Unilocaled before… But for this place i will… Its horrible… they don’t explain prices. My brakes which they supposedly fixed… were not fixed. it seems like everything i need to get done there… has something wrong happened… I asked them about a noise i hear when i accelerate… they say ‘Oh, it’s only the transmission”…is that all?!? Needless to say i need to find a new mechanic and don’t know where to go.

They are not only the slowest place I have ever gone to, they also lie. I went for an oil change and was told that I needed almost $ 1,000 of work done because my car was unsafe to drive. When I asked to see the problem they said it’s hard to see. I left after they told me that I was making a mistake and had my car looked at with another mechanic. My CAR IS FINE. IT IS NOT UNSAFE. DONT FALL FOR THEIR LIES. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED BY THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!

just this summer, went in for an oil change that includes a free tire rotation. when called and asked whether i’d need the internet coupon to get the discount, was told «no, we’ll honor it for you». went in, met w/​the usual upsell attempt on the oil, declined. sat down for 30 minutes or so, told job was done, went to settle the bill.
what i thought as a $ 19.99 oil change came to over $ 35!!! um, what? guy pointed to cheapest pkg on the rate chart (about $ 25 – 27), and said that’s the service i got. i said i had mentioned the internet coupon w/​your colleague when i came in! got a nonchalant «oh he didn’t tell me» response; went to adjust the charge reluctantly. still ended up paying $ 27, what with the nearly $ 8 for dumping the old oil… hmmm ok.
asked if they rotated my tires too; said they did, though i couldn’t remember exactly when that happened since i could see my car right from the waiting room, and hardly saw it lifted. when discussing w/​my bf, he contested that the car didn’t have to lift too high, and the whole process only took a few minutes, so maybe it happened w/​o me noticing. my bad on being lazy and didn’t mark the tires before i went in, but my doubt remained.
then, guess what, few months later and i went to Meineke for another oil change + tire rotation, they came back in to ask me for my tire lock! oh, yeah… that didn’t happen at monro last time!!! i asked the Meineke guy would the mechanics have my lock so that they didn’t have to ask; he said they could BREAK the lock w/​o the key, but i wouldn’t have the lock back afterwards. so chances are, theses monro people did not rotate my tires, even though they said they did.
what’s more, when i’m done settling the bill (at monro), they’d try and be neutral by telling me that my tires are almost wearing out, that maybe i should consider getting them replaced before winter came. i was surprised to hear due to the fact that my car is less than 3 years new; the guy said starter tires don’t last long these days. hmm ok.
they could be accurate w/​that diagnosis, and i would much rather err on the safe side. but given their shady practices (over-​charging, not delivering services as promised… upselling seems the least of concern), i don’t think i’d ever want to return to this place.
my bf (who goes to another monro by his work) claims that they rotate his tires every time. maybe they do, THERE. but if you’re willing to spend nearly 1.5 times of what you expect when you go to get a simple service, maybe this place is for you. i’d rather stick w/​Meineke and get my $ 29.99 services and pay $ 34. i don’t mind spending $ 35 on my car for an interval servicing – if it’s what i’m supposed to pay for. i’m just not willing to spend $ 10+ on NOTHING, yet still end up NOT getting services i’m promised.

It used to be a good place to go and get a tune-​up, brakes repaired, etc. Now there’s a new manager, and they’re doing the typical scams you read about online to look out for.
Car went in for an oil change, and SURPRISE, it needed $ 1000 worth of work. Was told the car was «unsafe to drive,» and got vague answers to my other questions. When I mentioned the car was in there a little over six months ago and looked over, and none of this was mentioned, I got «well, ma’am, six months is a long time for a car.“Hmph.
Brought it to my mechanic, who replaced the brakes for $ 275, and told me the rest of the work wasn’t necessary.
I won’t even be going back there for an oil change, no matter how many postcards they send me.

My wife and I procrastinated and did not get the new tires put on our Jeep immediately after T’giving as we’d planned. Now it’s mid-​Dec., and we leave tomorrow for a holiday trip. The tires are slicker than greased owl sh*t and we’re about to loan it to a friend for the week to drive to NJ. Not a good scenario.
We originally came all this way to go to Costco to get tires, but ended up at this Monro. I have had very good experiences with Monro in upstate NY, and so I thought I’d try this place. The tires he quoted me were made by Firestone and are buy 3 get 1 free and he doesn’t charge for mounting or anything… so 3 x the cost of one tire plus tax is the total for the whole shebang. I also asked for an oil change.
I was called a bit later and informed that their balancing machine had broken… uh oh. Originally was suggested that I find someone else to put the tires on… then he called me right back to suggest another option. Not only did these guys put the new tires on my rims, but they drove them (plus one other guy’s) to another store, balanced them and brought them back. The ordeal took a LOT of time (five hours from the time I dropped the car off), but these guys stayed until almost 8pm (they were supposed to close at 6pm, and this is a FRIDAY) and did the job right, even having to replace a couple of pins that broke from being too rusty. I had to have it done, and it got done, but without a single word from me about how badly I needed it… they just volunteered to do it.
I’m now an avid fan of Andrew, the manager, and Jason, the tech, who went way beyond ‘customer service’. I walked out with four Jeep tires and an oil change for around 400 dollars. They were very apologetic about the whole situation, but my opinion is that «stuff happens.» I was astounded by the level of service I got here and I will be driving from downtown out to Dedham from now on to get my car serviced and spend more time with these guys. Cannot give a higher recommendation here.

Took my 2010 car in for it’s first oil change and was happy with the speed and service. Stuck around for additional service on two cars that same day.
While on the lift they told me about some tire damage — I had known about it but did not realize a chunk was missing that exposed the steel belt. Driving on that tire was pretty risky.
The reason for the 4 star review is that Mike tried to talk me out of doing the tire repair at Monro. We had been chatting about my new car and I had told him that I was regretting the dealer upsell on tire/​rim warranty coverage. Mike flat out told me to take the car to the dealer and have it fixed there for free. I ended up declining and having the work done at Monro because I had to drive the car 600 miles over the next 48 hours and didn’t have time to schedule dealer service.
They found an exact replacement for my damaged tire and one of the techs offered to go personally to pick it up rather than wait for the afternoon courier delivery.
I then asked for a quote on a set of snow tires and got a detailed price back promptly along with honest and unsolicited advice to check out
for a set of inexpensive steel rims that would be a better fit for snow tires rather than the low-​profile alloy rims that came with the car. More points for directness .
The kicker to this story is that in a random set of coincidences my girlfriend had just ordered two replacement tires from
AND had left her car at home that day.
I asked Monro if I could bring my GF’s car in and have the tires she bought mounted. They said yes and charged $ 10/​tire for doing the work.
The fact that they only charged $ 10 to mount and balance tires that were purchased online was fantastic. Combined with the straightforward info they gave me about my own car means that these folks deserve four stars.
Can’t speak for the chain as a whole but this particular shop did well by me.

For basic Automotive maintenance — Oil changes, new tires, brakes — Monro’s Dedham location is a solid choice both because of it’s proximity to my work and the nature of the staff. I’ve had brakes repaired here, tires swapped, and oil changed, and every time the guys try to make it the most affordable and convenient they can.
The manager, Mike, is a really cool guy who doesn’t pull the bullshit game of insisting a thousand different things your car needs. You go in, you request what you want, and you’re out as soon as they can get you out (which is pretty daggone fast for any of the tasks I’ve had them undertake). Add to the prompt and courteous service that every procedure they’ve performed has been considerably cheaper than other places in the local area, and you’ve got yourself a winner.
Even when things haven’t gone perfect, Monro has remedied the situation with haste. When my front tires had been put on, there was a seam leak that quickly became the bane of my commute. When I brought it in, weeks later, the guys remembered me and immediately fixed the issue without a grumble at all. They’re pros, and they actually care about their customers. This is a quality that seems extremely rare in the Automotive Service industry (short of small local mechanics), but at Monro it thrives.
If you need Auto service, and you want to deal with honest, upfront people, go to Monro and talk to Mike. You’ll be glad you did.

My car was making an awful noise, and since I live nearby, decided to bring it in to this shop — as I knew it was exhaust system related. I was was unable to drive my car to my usual mechanic, and assumed I would be saving myself the extra $$ from towing, by bringing here … unfortunately, it turned out I needed a new catalytic converter.
Yes, the staff were extremely pleasant and courteous. Unfortunately, it took them 3 times to order the correct part, and I wasted a good chunk of my Saturday waiting for them to get it right. He explained that Honda exhaust parts were tricky sometimes.
Then, two days later, my check engine light went on. By this point, I was able to take it to my regular mechanic, who hooked it up to the computer and figured out the issue which is a wiring problem connected to the new catalytic converter. He could not prove that it was a direct result of the guys at Monro, but he showed me how the wiring was visibly tweaked hard when they hooked it all back up. Plus, he told my I was probably over-​charged for my initial repairs by a couple of hundred dollars. And that was even with the so-​called 5% discount. I should know by now when someone tells you «that’s a good price» its because they are trying REALLY hard to convince you of the fact.
Next time I will pay for the tow and save myself the headache from going to these guys! I’d heavily advise against getting any major repairs done here. New tires or muffler, fine… but they obviously weren’t thorough enough to make sure that the codes read back «okay» after making the repair. And they may have been responsible for the additional damage to the wiring.

My check engine light came on for the second time today, so my mechanic put it up on the lift and checked out Monro’s handywork. Needed a new O2 sensor… another couple of hundred bucks.
From a follow-​up call to Monro, they confirm that they indeed did check the codes to make sure everything was okay before releasing the car to me. Because they had to remove the oxygen sensor to get to the catalytic converter, something could have broken — which happens quite often. Even my mechanic indicated that it may have been a coincidence or unavoidable. Still doesn’t help that I was probably overcharged…
Monro claims that if it was a wiring issue, they would have fixed it for free. If it was a part, they would have offered to have me pay just for the part. My gut tells me that still would have been more $$ than a private owned shop… I say go local/​private and give those hard working guys your business.
