Great service and down home southern family cooking. Don’t want to forget to mention the incredible prices on the meals, A+ quality of food for the lowest prices in town. A ‘must stop’ destination if you desire authenticity.

We had a wonderful little lunch! Fantastic food and such a sweet and caring staff! Burgers were out of this world. Go cut down your Christmas tree and head over for lunch. Inexpensive and very good food.

Country diner. Had breakfast. Edible but not much else. Needs a good cleaning. Very cheap, but this is a corn dog and home fries type of spot that is CHEAP in quality and price. It does give you a glimpse into the country lifestyle of many residents.

I really love how people are people in this part of the country. No pretensions. Life is life. If this great li’l place was in CA, there would be branded memorabilia all over trying to borrow shine from the fact that it’s close to where the Doc Watson family place is. Here, nope, and thank you! If you happen to be in this part of North Carolina, maybe driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, it’s worth a stop. Great southern comfort food well-prepared. We had a super breakfast that was an unheard of value in our parts. If you like liver mush like I do, you can get it here. They have great specials throughout the week. My only regret is that we only got to visit Blue Ridge Diner once during our week in the area. Next time, more visits!

Good, made-to-order southern cooking like your mama made if she was a good cook. Regional specialties like liver mush are featured, along with local pork chops, ham and chicken. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, specials by the day of the week for lunch and supper. Prices are super low, staff service was super high, and the patrons friendly and engaging. I felt a little odd walking into a room full of locals. at first.but they embraced us and we shared great food and conversation. You know deep gap, where this diner is located, was doc watson’s home. He was said to be a lovely man, friendly and extremely talented. I’m sure he’d smile to read this diner is a reflection of his presence in the town. There is love in this food.

Driving towards the Blue Ridge Parkway and hungry but not sure where to eat. Came across this diner where parking lot was FULL and decided that was a good sign. We went in and were greeted by a friendly staff that seemed to know all of their customers. Prices were incredible! Had the Hot dog with cole slaw, mustard and onions and it was soooo good. My daughter(vegetarian) had the ½ order of popcorn shrimp and hush puppies and said that if all hush puppies were that good, she’d eat them all the time. She also said that the shrimp were very good with nice seasoning and not overly breaded the best she’d had.

Came to the Diner based on Andy E.‘s recommendation. I was not disappointed. The grilled chicken salad sandwich was wonderful. A creamy southern style chicken salad. I cant wait to come back for their burgers. The address is still listed on U.S. 421 and it should be Old 421. Easy fix — take the access road and head back west toward the Blue Ridge Parkway. By the way — free WiFi as well. Came back for breakfast — nothing special.

A local told us this place was good — turned out to be great! It’s only a small diner that sits right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, but it packs a big delicious serving of authenticity and southern hospitality. Everything on the menu looked great. I asked about the chicken salad sandwich and the delightful waitress informed me that they make the salad fresh every day and that I should have it grilled. «What about the burgers?» She told us that they were brought in every morning from Boone where they’re made fresh from local beef. Nothing gets me more excited(at a restaurant) than to know that everything is fresh, local, and original. Homemade slaw and chili topped my burger, that’s how it was on the menu, and I wasn’t about to go changing that. The burger was big, juicy, and one of the most flavorful burgers I’ve ever had in my life! It’s only $ 2.60 by the way… The chicken salad sandwich(under $ 2) came golden brown and perfectly grilled — as recommended. The waitress later described the meatloaf they serve on Tuesdays and even though my stomach was full, my mouth was watering. My family and I will be going back next Tuesday at 4pm, when they start serving dinner, b/c she also said everyone and their mother comes in for it and it’s gone before you know it. You gotta listen to the locals wherever you go — they always know best.
