I have bought books from Topshelf in the past and was disappointed in their buy back policies, they don’t pay enough in my opinion. I am always frustrated and turned off by the fact that they NEVER answer their phone. I want the opportunity to ask if a book is available before going to the store. You would think with all of the people that work there, someone could answer the phone and provide customer service.

Get your books from this place instead of the bookstore in the college! Great location to be(right across the street from San Jac), so you do not have to go far to save what could be hundreds. They can get busy and you may have to wait because of how small the place is. The employees can be considered rude by many if you catch them while they are stressed. When it is slower, the are friendly. No fine middle I guess. Still, worth the wait!

I am so happy I purchased my books here instead of the bookstore inside San Jacinto. I saved myself over $ 300! The staff is friendly, service is quick, and they are very kind as to tell you what they have, don’t have, when the next shipment is coming in, if you should rent instead, etc. They even call you to tell you your book is in and to come pick it up! I saw the guy ahead of me trying to decide if he should use a used book or a new one. The difference would have been over $ 80 and I suppose he didn’t want the used one since the cover was sorta messed up but the inside was perfect and guy(I suppose the owner) took off $ 20 since he saw he didn’t really want the used one due to the cover and really wanted to help him out. I love this place and I intend on coming semester after semester.

Everything Gabriel C. said still very much holds true. I haven’t bought any books from SJC bookstore and the only 2 I’ve bought new in-store came from Top Shelf. They were about $ 12 – 14 cheaper than quoted at SJC. Everything else came used from Amazon. Pretty much how I’ll be purchasing books from now on.

If you’ve ever been to college you’ve felt the pain in your wallet. Tuition is gradually increasing before you get to graduate yourself and text books cost almost as much as tuition. It hurts so bad but you know you need it when the only alternative from education is a job in a plant in Pasadena. You’re willing to take any bit of help at this point. Top Shelf is a place that eases the pain. Text book prices are guaranteed to be lower than other book stores. Not only that, but after you’re done with your book, and if it’s perhaps still in demand, they will buy it from you for more others buy it for. Sad story about San Jacinto College’s book store: San Jac never had to make a profit off of the books they sold; they just needed to break even. For some odd reason, Barnes & Noble bought the store and along came the high prices. The store now has to make a profit. Top Shelf, by no means, has the best prices. Most of the time has the best prices. But if you need a book to pick up right now, Top Shelf is the place to go. The service is extra friendly and helpful, and they are also knowledgeable about paying with student aid money from the government.
